i love this ACGM because it makes some very good and salient points with a dash of "I can't stand Mike Hoffman, please just make him go away".
It's an interesting case - I think Monahan & Hornqvist are interesting players to target if you have the Price cap space available next season. As you said, if they both recover even some of their game, they can be easily flipped at the deadline (with 3 open retention slots, too!) and you can get back some more picks and/or young prospects. And nearly $30M available for the 2023 offseason? Impressive!

Blowing it Up
Anaheim declines -- no interest in either Drouin or Armia. We're not making the playoffs this year and we'd rather give the ice time to developing young players with upsides. Drouin is a short-timer and Armia has topped out at a bottom-6 RW, and we have at least two of those who are much, much cheaper.

And? People weren't expecting the 9th overall pick either, and it was only contenders that would have been willing their 1st so the 1st would have been a late one anyways.

Rangers trade - take out Robertson and the 2nd going to NYR. Also Rangers dont need any money retained.
Lehkonen & Kulak for Kravtsov, 2nd & 4th.

JVR and a 4 for Petry and a 5 imo. You can drop frost, the salary’s aren’t terribly different and there isn’t really a market to move Petry close to Michigan besides Philly plus he has more term.
Arizona accepts easily, that’s straight forward.
The rangers are basically getting Lehkonen and kulak for kravtsov and Robertson, 2’s offset. Seems fair to me but the rangers fans might feel otherwise.
Florida likely accepts.
No way Anaheim does that. He’s having a down year but that’s selling very low imo.
Edmonton likely accepts, it’s an upgrade if only a marginal one.
Minnesota would have to be an offseason deal, and it really seems like going LTIR for the next 4 years only compounds their issues. Montreal likely has to sit on that deal for another year or two until they can move it. That’s a ton of term and cap hit even if the dollars paid are low

Feed back pls Habs TDL and Offseaon
1. 4th + 5th for Giroux retention maybe. 4th is in the range of $1.25M retention. 5th should be enough for the rest (or a low end prospect).
3. Kravtsov for a 2nd, sure.
Garand for Kulak doesn't make sense. No need for a middling goalie prospect.
Berard is not near enough for Lehkonen.
4. Chiarot to Boston for a LHD doesn't make sense. Not a want or a need. Even without considering rivalry and fit.
5. Idea and return is "okay", but nothing to jump at. Allen needs to be back in action first regardless.
6. I personally think it's worth a 2nd to Arizona for Weber's contract. If it were my money and I had that many 2nd rounders, I'd do it.
I think the cost is actually lower however. Weber's contract isn't a factor right now, but the opportunity to move it before it gets in the way might be more important than getting return value.
You have to consider his $8M eating up the majority of the 10% off season cushion.
7. Pretty meh return for Petry. Last resort is to move him for a shorter term contract. I'd keep him before moving him for that little, but this is at least something to consider if he absolutely has to be moved.
8. No way. Not doing Toronto any favors and the last thing we need is another expensive goalie with term.
9. Not bad, but retention might be required. I'd settle for Allard and a conditional 3rd (Drouin games played).
10. Can't see Gourde being a consideration unless it's for Dvorak. Seattle will also want a piece with more high end potential, none of the 2nd, Poehling, or Armia qualify.

Well Detroit got a 4th in the Savard deal
San Jose a 4th in the Foligno deal
The value is good in my mind with the 2 picks

I felt the value was pretty similar has this trade you posted...</div></div>
Allen stats are exactly the same as Samsonov but he’s 6 years older. Samsonov is valued at a 2nd bc his potential. I don’t see anyone paying a 2nd or even a third for Allen bc generally players don’t get better at 31 they are trending downward.
Allen = 3rd best case but imo with his stats today I wouldn’t pay more than a 4th for him
Sammy =/= Allen. Allen at best is a lateral move so why would we even make the trade? The goal would be to upgrade not downgrade or laterally move while getting older. Alexeyev was a 1st round pick about to be NHL ready he is worth more than a 3rd to us.

For the Leafs, Mrazek’s not played enough games. Historically he’s been a pretty average to good goalie.
The value of Chiarot would be down to only picks (not a 1st) as the prospects are too valuable to the Leafs 2-3 years from now on their ELC’s (expecting Niemela to slide a year).
We’re expecting Mikheyev, Kerfoot, and Holl to be traded or walk into free agency, and a sub 1 million skilled forward and really good D prospect is not worth the extra insurance of Chiarot for 1 year. The cost to pick up Soucy (who would fill a similar gap) would be quite a bit lower and he has an extra year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rA9_Messiah</b></div><div>So I guess you don't like Petry whatever the price ...</div></div>
Petry doesn't fit in Detroit. He's 34 years old. 3 years left on his contract at 6.25 mil AAV. He's a RD. Red Wings already have Seider, Hronek, Lindstrom at RD. Yzerman certainly isn't trading Niederbach who's pegged to be a future C.
Red Wings are rebuilding. They're not giving up prospects for 34 year old players. Better targets include LD's like Alec Martinez in Vegas. Marcus Pettersson in Pittsburgh. Or trying to sign Hampus Lindholm in UFA.
Petry to Detroit trades are made by Habs fans on CFACGM every 5 minutes for the past month. Just because he's from Michigan doesn't mean Yzerman has to trade for him. I'm sorry to jump on you. But there's 30 other teams Jeff Petry can be traded to. I'm quite sure he'd be willing to play for other teams.
