I see it more as Holtz + 2nd for extended Hanifin and 1 + Vitek for Markstrom.
I'd do the first but not the second... So put together it might not be so far off.
Mute point though cause I really doubt Calgary trades Markstrom.

What is the price flames fans
I'm sure plenty of people will disagree with these valuations, but here is what I suspect the ballparks are... Add a cap dump to any of these if needed, as well as maybe a later pick from Calgary to even things out. Note: I want Calgary to resign Hanifin 8 X 7.5 is steep, but I think we need to keep him.
Available
- Tanev (Hoping to get a late first - perhaps with B prospect with retention)
- Lindholm w/ retention (Looking for a 1st + Prospect)
- Dube (I would think this would be a hockey trade. Under-performing player of similar age and ceiling)
- Mangiapane (Prospect + pick)
- Vladar (In today's goalie market, maybe a 2nd if we're lucky. Likely a 3-4th)
Possibly Available
- Hanifin ( 1 + prospect + Cap dump - perhaps more with retention / sign & trade)
- Markstrom (1 + A prospect or more) Too valuable to Calgary if the deal isn't strong
- Coleman (I doubt he's moved, but if so, 1 + prospect)
- Weever (I doubt he's moved, but if so, 1 + prospect)
Not Available
- Andersson
- Sharangovich

I think Lindholm wanting out would have a cascading effect on others wanting out too. I don't think Hanifin wanting out has the same effect though. Hanifin is good, but Weegar got his money and The Flames should be looking at deals, even if Hanifin wanted to stay. The market for D is dry apparently, so good time to take advantage.

Flames 2023 Offseason
As a Flames fan, I'd take that Blues trade in a heartbeat - so likely to one sided. With that said, I agree that Toffoli is someone we look to move for a package around some youth.
Vladar out and Wolf in - yes please.
Zadorov is another piece that I look at moving as well. Like what he brings, but he's a little too pricy for where he plays.
Bring back Stitcher 100%, and if Philips will sign, you bring him up too, without question.
Richie can walk though, and I might be dangling a Top 6 forward for an improvement there. As it's constructed in your lineup, it's too weak.

2 years out Fantilli and trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div></div>
Toffoli is a weird one for the Flames too. Do we resign him? Strange to ask that question about the top goal scorer on the team. I think ultimately they do - especially if Sutter is sticking around.
In both of the trades I feel like Calgary is giving up too much. The argument comes down to TK and Hanifin are valued. Provorov isn't of big interest, but with retained salary it helps. But Hanifin, Dube, Toffoli for TK and Frost + partial cap dump (granted with some value), wouldn't get it done I don't think. I could see it getting closer with Toffoli dropped perhaps.
Lindholm, on his current deal, would require a big pay. Hard to value a trade with so many big pieces changing teams. Value might be right in your proposal, depending on prospect (Forester would be of interest).
Hypothetical trade that would never happen:
Hanifin, Dube, Lindholm
TK, Frost, Farabee, Forester, 1st (Insert Provorov if needed for Salary, and add a lower pick from Calgary).
Kind of works out to Lindholm for Frost, Forester, 1st, then Hanifin, Dube, and a pick for TK, Farabee and Provorov (retained)
I'm sure fans on both sides would pick that apart, but it's fun to try!

Fair enough - though some of the people taking it out of context were in the media and reported as much. I see where you are coming from though, it wasn't a resounding YES or NO when asked about staying. Weegar hinted Lindholm just wants to be paid!.
It'll be interesting to see what happens with Lindholm for sure though. He's Calgarys most important player in a lot of ways, but you can't let him walk to free agency.
Backlund on the other hand. There is a lot of smoke there about him wanting out. And that's not just coming from the media...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>I know that Torts really likes TK and I would be shocked he was moved. But hypotheticals are always fun.
So the base is TK and Hanifin. What are the views on Calgary of Sanheim or Provorov? I'm getting at a blockbuster here to also include Lindholm. Would it start at TK, one of the dmen, and a prospect? Draft picks? Another top 6 forward? is it even plausible? Is Farabee of interest? Atkinson? Frost?
This is fun.</div></div>
Haha... Agreed! Always fun to play GM.
If Calgary was moving Hanifin, its because he is going to want a raise after next season and the Flames have too much tied up in other players - Weegar is basically taking Hanifin's $$. In moving him, the thinking would be that Kylington can come back next year and regain his form, but that's no guarantee. So though there could be a hole to fill in the top 4, the contracts of Sanheim and Provorov would be hard to fit in. With some retention on Provorov, maybe, but only if it meant getting the Top 6 forward we covet.
Adding Lindholm brings in a WHOLE new dimension. He is Calgary's key trade chip - if they decide to trade him. Calgary would need a #1 centre to replace him. Maybe that come come from elsewhere, but hard to include him in a trade without knowing for sure there is a replacement.
If Lindholm was a target - I suspect the starting ask would be something like Konecny, Forester, Frost, Pick. Lindholm is on a great contract for next year.
Frost intrigues me, but I wonder what it would look like as part of a Hanifin trade. Anyone else on the Flames that interest you? Mangipane, Toffoli, Vladar, Dube, Kadri, Ruzicka...
Hanifin ++
Konecny, Frost, Provorov (included if needing to make salary work)

What would a trade start with in your eyes for Hanifin.
PS. This is all hypothetically based on if we miraculously land 1 or 2 in the draft and can speed up the process a bit.</div></div>
The Flames need a few solid hockey trades right now - not really interested in futures since they are committed to not rebuilding (that's an argument for a different day).
I would think the target for Calgary would be Konecny, then balance out the trade as needed. Guessing that's not of great appeal to Philly fans though. Calgary needs Top 6 scoring forwards. Looking closer at the Philly roster, I'm not sure there is anyone Calgary would want that Philly would be willing to part with as part of a Hanifin trade.
If Philly was interested in the inclusion of a B-level prospect of the Flames or Vladar, then maybe the appeal of going a bit younger and building in an area of need (D) using an area of strength (F) might appeal to them.

Would Philly have any interest in Hanifin or Zadorov?
Hanifin would certainly cost (more than the above), but could be a good fit.
Zadorov is in the Philly mould and would be less expensive than the trade above.
Both players the Flames would consider moving for offence I would think.

Widely reported in Calgary that Lindholm and Backlund (and likely others) are unhappy in Calgary. Rumors the Flames explored trading them at the deadline. Their exit interviews all but confirmed they are not happy. Flames will likely be exploring trading one or both of them this off season.
As a Flames fan, I would have liked the Mangipane trade simply to get out from under his contract. But now knowing he needed shoulder surgery, I may give him a year to rebound from an off season.

I tend to agree - but when I considered who NYR might be willing to part with it was tough. I wanted Georgiev as part of the deal and a high pick (1st overall is out though, I know). Considered D'Angelo instead of the 3rd but thought that might be to steep in favor of the Flames.

That does make sense. If it's Farabee (preferred over Frost) then likely would need another smaller add. With that said, I think Calgary has be careful not to go quantity over quality. We need at least 1 quality piece and some futures for Gaudreau for the trade to be considered a success. Not convinced Philly is the best trade partner, but we all know that's where he'd like to end up!

Arrow2 More extreme changes
Ryan is still a solid performer and plays up and down the line-up. The reason he shows up in Calgary trades every now and then is that Flames fans want to move Bennett to #3 Center next year and Ryan becomes an expensive #4C. He is still a 3C in this league though. I like Ryan to Buffalo as well - works for both teams.

Generally I would agree, but with Treliving having a reputation as a solid contract negotiation, Hall wanting to play in Calgary (rumored), and a flat cap over the next few years, around 7 seems possible on the longer 7 year term I used. With a Ryan trade we could afford Hall up to 7,500,000 but I'd likely shave a year or two off the term if that was the case.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>I think CGY would be idiots for even thinking of trading Gaudreau. Not because Hall isn't as good or better or whatever. But because getting a 100 pt player at 6.8M is as good as winning the lottery. Even if Hall is "better", he's older, he'll cost more to keep and he's injured juts as often if not more than JG. Gaudreau for Hall is a lateral move AT BEST regardless of whose a better player.
Hey CGY, maybe you should look into finally getting a top flight 1A goalie and throw in some better depth in the lineup before deciding to trade one of their best assets.
Gaudreau had a bad playoff. So did Kucherov. TB ain't looking to trade him are they?</div></div>
Great points <a href="/users/F50marco" target="_blank">@F50marco</a> and to be honest, I completely agree. I would rather have Gaudreau as well, and his contract is just icing. I don't even think Gaudreau had that bad of a playoffs, he got chances. It was the rest of the team that didn't do much and Gaudreau carried a lot of the weight. I was just playing around with scenarios based on the rumor Calgary is considering an offer around the two. If it did happen I suspect there would be more to the story (A requested trade).
My first wish was for Lehner this offseason and seeing how that played out I'm a little surprised it. He's a FA next year and Calgary will have a better idea of what Rittich is and Talbot as well. If neither take a step, then maybe we swing for Lehner next year in FA.

Obvious Offer Sheets and Trades
I can tell you right now there is NO WAY Sam Bennett is signing a 2 year offer sheet at $925,000. He makes just under $2MM now and will get a raise from Calgary on a 2-3 year deal. If you want to offer-sheet him start at around $4,000,000 and he might sign and the Flames might not match, otherwise it's another waste of everyone's time.

Still Work to Be Done

I'm really not familiar with the Wild so I can only really look at his numbers and as far as term, AAV, and point production goes I don't really understand why him ending up on the Flames is almost a given (at least as far as this site is concerned).
Definitely not trolling either, I legitimately don't understand.</div></div>
Fair question, I asked it myself when I heard the rumors. After looking in to it, like <a href="/users/KH44" target="_blank">@KH44</a> said, he is quietly a very solid player. He is fast, responsible, plays with some grit and puts up decent points (on a not so good Wild club). He is also in the right age group. His contract is a little high, but should be manageable and he is a definite upgrade on Frolik in our top 6. Can't overlook that he is available and wouldn't be too expensive. I was on the Kadri bandwagon, but now that he is gone I was looking at other rumored options (Tyler Johnson, Kreider, etc.) and I think Zucker is our best bet that is left.

Hard no from Calgary. Brodie is a 35 pt, +29, 22 min a night, #2 RD in his prime. I can see the Flames having minor interest in Shaw, but not at this expense. I'm a little surprised the Flames are considering moving him, though I am high on Andersson and he needs a bigger role.
We could get much more for Brodie and a 2nd than Andrew Shaw and 2 players we have no room for.

I get it, you wouldn't make that trade, which is fine. I'm not sure the Flames would either.
The thinking is Brodie is a #2 D who came off a 34 point season with a +29. And this was only his 4th most productive season in the league. He is in his prime and has a very reasonable cap hit. Kyl is a good prospect ready to step in now that is stuck behind a deep pool in Calgary. I like Gallagher a lot and think he has lots of value, but I don't think this trade is lopsided enough to warrant quoting Aerosmith over.

Fair question. The thinking there is that there is Value in shedding his salary and only picking up Jankowski's this helps offset the value difference on Brodie / Kadri.
Also, for the flames, he would be a versatile forward to add to the bottom 6. He would be insurance in case Neal doesn't improve, as he could move to 3RW and Bennett to 2RW. Also, if he outplays Bennett, Bennett could drop to 4RW and Brown up to 3RW. Or Bennett could swing to the 3LW if Dube isn't ready and Brown up to 3RW. Gives the Flames some options.

Would be a pretty good roster to start the year with. I could definitely see Tre going after someone as a 6/7 D on the cheap also. I thought Fantenberg was fine in his time, but agree we could add there. I also think Neal will be back, and am kind of ok with it. I am in the bounceback camp with him. But in order to get Zucker AND Kadri, he would need to go. However, If we can trade Frolik for a 2nd or 3rd, and keep our 1st and have Neal play almost as well as Zucker would on that 2nd line, then that would be the dream scenario!
