Trading Lindholm Rakell and Manson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mytduxfan</b></div><div>If you'd prefer Killorn/Palat at a lower price, that is fine, but Rakell is absolutely worth Timmins + 1st. I don't think we'd trade him for anything less. In fact, from what you're saying about team's being desperate to get under cap, I think it is safe to assume that Rakell (and his sweetheart deal) is worth a lot more now. Nice!!!!
</div></div>
Yep, just commented something similar here:
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moli92</b></div><div>
Its gonna be a buyers market this offseason, TBL especially will need to have a garage-sale-esque offseason and not that many teams will be listening to take on guys with a 4.5-5.5M cap hit. Although the flat cap lowers value players like Rakell, you can also look at it from the perspective of a team who may be looking to add this offseason but are close to the cap (PHI, EDM, VGK, etc). Many teams may be wanting to add a Killorn/Palat but wont be able to, and thats where a team like ANA can come in and offer Rakell at a lower cap hit and maybe still get good value for him despite the flat cap</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JaredB40</b></div><div>Rakell would cost our BUF 2020 1st or Cozens, and they're not getting Cozens. I feel confident in saying both of those statements as facts.
Now if that pick ends up being around 7th overall, like expected, I'd be tempted to work something out around that pick for Rakell. But would ANA is the question. I think maybe yes?</div></div>
As much as I love Rakell, and as much as I love my Ducks, Rakell doesn't = 7th overall pick. Maybe Anaheim adds Jacob Larsson?
I don't think it makes sense for Buffalo to trade that pick. Here's a deal I could live with that doesn't cost you it:
Jokiharju

Playoff Contenders
I have a hard time believing the Ducks are going to kick the expensive defenseman can and sign Tyson Barrie this offseason. This team is a work in progress, and I think this group will take things slow and steady. If I had to make a prediction, I think Rakell gets moved for futures and the Ducks sign 2nd, or 3rd UFA tier defenders. Maybe like Radko Gudas? He will probably cost you half of what Barrie costs and I think he'd be a good veteran leader for this young group.

Clearly Rakell > Kapanen, if not by much. If you contend that Kapanen = Manson (= first round pick), then how can Rakell be worth only Timmins and a devalued second?
If Kapanen = Manson, then Rakell = Timmins and Colorado's 2020 first,

Silvy is a big asset for the ducks. He’s our main scorer and top winger. I would expect a good prospect and a first, or a good RHD and a lower pick. You’d have to add a sweetener if you want us to retain salary.

Seconded, signed a Ducks fan.
Sure we need another top-4 D-man, preferably a RHD, but there's really no reason to cut bait on Manson. Kapanen produces as much as Ricky but without the same potential. If we're going to be moving Ricky and Lars we might as well pair them up to acquire a quality d-man as well as retain Manson if we intend to improve rather than making moves for the sake of making them.

ANA trade and signing Toffoli
I'll second my esteemed colleague <a href="/users/mytduxfan" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@mytduxfan</a> in everything he says.
I think we would take that deal in a heartbeat if Fleury were right-handed. But with Djoos, Larsson, Guhle, Mahura and now the new signee Curran all on that side (plus LaCombe and Thrun in the pipeline), I don't think he'd fit well with the Ducks.
However, sometimes I wonder how these negotiations work mechanically. I remember that when Dean Lombardi decided to acquire Milan Lucic, the moment the deal was finalized Boston turned around Martin Jones and sent him to San Jose almost immediately, which tells me Boston and San Jose were negotiating contemporaneously. If we could work out a deal to flip Fleury and Foegele to Florida (doesn't that sound euphonious?) for MacKenzie Weeger (?plus?), this would be a great deal for us. In fact, this might be the best trade we'd ever made since the Pronger/Niedermeyer acquisitions.

Retooling the Ducks
Trading 7 veteran regulars is too much turnover -- that's not a re-tooling, it's a complete reconstruction. We'd only have Fowler and the expiring Gudbranson left from our core. John Gibson deserves better. Plus, you're only getting 6 regulars back, and two of them (Bennett and Johansson) are less than earthshaking. As to the actual trades:
Rakell = Timmins plus the first
Manson = Kapanen plus the second
No need for the Getzlaf trade, and he wouldn't waive anyway even if we asked him to, which we wouldn't
If we only made one trade this off-season, I'd choose the Rangers one
I don't think the return from the Buffalo trade is worth losing two of our top 6 forwards
I'd offer De Melo $4 million for 5 years
Sherwood didn't make any impression in his 10-game audition in the NHL this season, so I don't see him getting a 40% raise

Local tv station showed a reporter doing a remote late at night; in the background, two policemen were leading a female looter off to be arrested. She was in her fluffy orange bathrobe and fluffy orange bedroom slippers.
Only store in my neighborhood boarded up against looting is the high-end pet food/supply store between a Gelson's and a liquor store. I guess we have a different class of looters.
It's a strange time.

What young scorer can Lindholm get us
Here’s what I think Anaheim should do:
Trade Lindholm to the Rangers for Lundkvist (a stud future RHD) and the higher of the 2020 1st (assuming pick 12-15) plus maybe another smaller piece.
Then take Lucas Raymond with the Anaheim 1st, Jack Quinn or Jake Sanderson with the pick you get and another good forward with the Boston pick.
Then you’re set long term

NYR BUF trades
Lindholm for Lundkvist and the Rangers' 2020 first is fine. We're not interested in the cap dump with the NMC.
Accepted value of Rakell is Colorado's 2020 first and Connor Timmins; Buffalo's first is too high, so Henri Jokiharju and the 2020 second is acceptable if we add one of our innumerable lefties (W or D). Jacob Larsson is better than Jake McCabe or Lawrence Pilut.

Fowler is an ok D-man. DeAngelo is essentially a 4th forward. Doesn't contribute much on his own end.
Also their defense behind them is extremely weak. Djoos-Gudbranson, Larsson-Hakanpää or something to that regard.

Flat Cap and No CBO Ducks Edition
I don’t think Fowler moves back to the right. They tried that to start the season but guhle got hurt and Fowler and Gudbranson played very good together. Swap Heinen and Henrique. And I think there will be some move to be made before they play again.
Too many ready bodies for not enough spots. The 4th line will prolly be what you have with Aggozino rotating in. Rakell plays a lot better on the left for some reason. I’d bet he stays there with one of Milano or Heinen playing on their off side. Comtois is now 21 and looks ready for a full time jump but he’s not going to play on the 4th line. I’m not sure how lundestrom looked in SD but he now has a full NA season under his belt plus Zegras signed and BO signed and whoever they draft. Got a lot of middle 6 guys that won’t develop on the 4th line but might be too good for further AHL development. Think the ducks should use that young depth to swing some deals for places of need ie. young goal scorer or RD.
IMO they should be very active checking the prices of players with the cap not going as high as first thought. They have cap space unlike many other teams and could get decent prices for solid players. TB STL AZ NSH TOR just to name a few could all have quality players of decent age available. Ducks should be on it if the trade prices are reasonable.
