<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sens65</b></div><div>Why would Minnesota trade the only good center they have?</div></div>
That's a bit off, center was one of our deepest positions this year. Caveat: When healthy. Which we were not, not by a long shot this year.
Rossi was excellent this year putting up 20 goals in his first full rookie season and has looked the part of and proven himself to be at minimum a 2nd-line center going forward.
Eriksson-Ek elevated himself to legitimate 1C status this year. He's correctly untouchable.
Hartman, love him or hate him. Is a solid middle-six center/winger who can play anywhere in the top 9. He's a good option when you need someone with some jam to their game but can still play with enough skill to keep up with better players.
Khusnutdinov joined the team late and has looked solid on our 3rd line. He's really good defensively, plays with a ton of speed, and looks like a really good 2C/3C going forward.
We also have some pretty good prospects in Yurov and Heidt coming along in the pipeline too.
Still, it'd easily cost Stutzle in return for us to even consider moving JEE.

Hey....
HEY....
Nope... it's not happening.
You realize that Guerin is going to want Stutzle for Eriksson-Ek, right? Which is absolute lunacy for Ottawa to do. But, it's what it would cost for Guerin to even consider moving a Selke caliber 30-goal scorer who only is getting better and better with each passing year.
It may have taken him until his age 27 season, but Ekkers absolutely looked and felt like a legitimate 1C this year. He's easily the most important player in Minnesota not named Kaprizov. Even more so than Faber too.

Potential trades for next season
Even though the Wild will have more money to throw around next year despite the last year of the big dead cap hits, I don't think they will want to spend it on goaltending after having already re-signed Gustavsson. Almost 10M spent on two goalies who have struggled this season is way too tough of a pill to swallow.
I think they sooner not give up any assets and either see if Wallstedt is ready to be the backup or perhaps re-sign Fleury for one more go.

It has been confirmed that MN is not qualifying Steel and he'll be UFA, so you can remove him entirely.
You look to be too high on Gus' number - 1x3.1 or 3x3.5 is what we've been told to expect by Russo.
Merrill could be the cap casualty - Goose said he isn't waiving and can't see Guerin dealing Foligno before TDL.

Duhaime will probably get traded. I imagine Guerin would love to sing him for that, but sounds like he wants more money and we just don't have the space to make that happen.
I hope Rossi gets a shot in the top 6 on the 2nd line with Johansson and Boldy. We need to see what he can do and putting him with Gaudreau and Foligno isn't doing him any favors to develop offensively.
I don't really love the plan this year. We aren't contenders and I'd rather punt and try to get a high pick next year to continue stocking the pool, but Guerin seems determined to make the playoffs.
We certainly did target forwards in the draft this year, taking 3 centers in the first 63 picks. I've long questioned why we haven't been prioritizing center in our prospect pool when it has been such a need for us, but the front office definitely addressed that this year. Time will tell on these kids, but we really need someone to develop into a 1C.

You can always do trades, trades made post TDL though players can’t play in the playoffs and generally speaking, playoff teams don’t trade during the playoffs

If Michkov falls to 5
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drmantalban</b></div><div>Yeah that's completely fair. Definitely can appreciate that argument. I'm not all that high on Rossi, so this isn't as unpalatable for me as it is for you, but I understand where you're coming from.
I think in this scenario if you fast forward to 25-26 and had a fwd core of Kap, Michkov, Boldy, Yurov, Ohgren, Ek, Khusnutdinov, etc., you could either land a legit C via UFA or make a huge trade to get one. At that point, I wouldn't be all that concerned about further gutting the prospect pool. It'd be an all-in, whatever it takes to get a 1C. You'd be at the mercy of the market in terms of trade prices and who's even available, but I'd be optimistic that you could get someone suitable and have enough firepower to be a true contender.
But I acknowledge all of this is video game planning.</div></div>
IF we're discussing hypothetically moving up to target a specific player in this years draft.
I want Brayden Yager.
There's enough talk of him probably dropping and going in the teens at this point that I think there’s a decent chance to be able to move up and take him. The better part of this for us is that the cost of moving up to get him is significantly less than it would cost for us to get Michkov. I think he has every chance to be as good as Logan Cooley too.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Birtle34</b></div><div>Let’s say there’s no trades, bedard/fantilli/carlsson/smith/benson/michkov would be my prediction. Gives Montreal there Caufield 2.0, not exactly what they need but could still be interesting with less of a gamble. But just an opinion. Somebody falls in love with michkov and has a rhd prospect and 1c prospect and not falling that far down from 5 I could see Montreal moving out possibly.</div></div>
Yeah I don't think it's likely he drops below 5, but it's definitely not out of the realm of possibility. That would be pretty spicy.
If he fell to AZ, I'd offer damn the kitchen sink to get him. I'm incredibly high on Michkov. Trades are just so rare that high in the draft, it's tough to see anything actually materialize.

Some Old Some New
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lightman13</b></div><div>They wouldn’t. It’s a joke. They’d have to drop the 1st from the package. Maybe get a 3rd instead. But that’s about it. Raddysh has similar production to sam steel…… so shrugs. Maybe a hockey trade would be appropriate</div></div>
And San Steel is a RFA with arbitration rights who will be looking for a deal that pays 2-2.5 per year which a team with 15 million in dead cap can't afford. TRad is the exact combo of minimum contract and production that cap strapped contenders have paid a first for. Firstov is a wildcard throw away of a guy that ran back to the motherland the first time something didn't go his way.
I understand not wanting to give up a first round pick for TRad. I also think the Hawks and Wild make interesting trade partners in that the Hawks have a number of league minimum players that can help and the Wild have a deep prospect pool of guys that are still several years away. Hawks have mid 20's pieces like TRad, Katchouk, and Roos that can all play at minimum cap while the Wild can offer early 20's guys like Spacek, Bankier, and 2nd round picks to make a trade package of 2 or 3 pieces per side that would be win win for both. Hawks can reset some older pieces for younger to allign better with when they should start to turn things around. Wild can grab several players at minimum to fill out a roster that otherwise gets real challenging. I think a deal of TRad, Katchouck, and Roos for Spacek, Bankier, and a 2nd would be a win for both sides with where they are currently at. Wild get 3 pieces that help now at minimum cap without giving up a 1st rounder (or 1st round equivalent prospect) . Hawks get younger and add 3 pieces to the rebuild that you expect 1 to be a helpful NHL piece in a few years and hope for a couple.

The thing about fitting him into Montreal, is that Barron and Hutson are already offensive tilted D, so it may not make sense long term (depending on how those players progress) and in the short term there's Matheson.
It's worth taking a chance if the price is right, just something to keep in mind.

He might still be around. Mateychuk will probably be playing a year in the AHL for 24-25 and I could see Svozil still being there too. It really depends on if they're able to land a significant 2LD this summer like Jarmo has been talking about I guess. If they do then maybe they move Bean or maybe they keep him to play 3LD and then decide on his future for 24-25 based on how Svozil and Mateychuk are looking.
