Huge win for Nashville tonight. Who gets the last playoff spot? Calgary has the easiest schedule, but we've seen them lose to bad teams. Winnipeg and Nashville still have some tough games to play.

Winnipeg, Nashville, and Calgary each play each other one more time. These games will most likely determine which team is the one that gets in the playoffs.
April 5th Calgary at Winnipeg
April 8th Nashville at Winnipeg
April 10th Nashville at Calgary
With the way things are trending I won't be surprised if the Canucks are single digit points out of a playoff spot by the end of the season. Canucks management will scrap the rebuild/retool idea and the cycle repeats itself.

Panthers lost today, Islanders lost today. Sabres keep their season alive. If Ottawa wins, then they move within 3 points if Pittsburgh loses in regulation. If Washington wins in regulation, they move within 2 points of Pittsburgh and 1 point behind Florida. If Pittsburgh wins, they move within 1 point of the Islanders with a game in hand. The race for the wild card spots in the East are going to go down to the wire.

Which team has it worse long-term - Vancouver or Philadelphia?
Vancouver
JT Miller has looked better under RIck Tocchet, but he looked better under Bruce during the 2021-22 season and was god awful in the 2022-23 season with Bruce. I won't be surprised if the old bad habits return next season. His contract starts next year and he is already past 30. OEL's contract is awful and he has been pretty bad this season after an alright first season with the Canucks. The Canucks are stuck with that terrible contract for 4 more years. Boeser has a decent amount of points, but he can't seem to put the puck in the net. He hasn't been the same (in terms of goal scoring) since 2021. Boeser also is kinda slow and it isn't going to get better since he's 26. Myers has also been pretty bad this season, but at least his contract ends next season. Garland has been better under Tocchet, but he still has been disappointing over all this season (only 13 goals so far). Beauvillier has been good with Vancouver, but his contract ends next season and will he stay. Ethan Bear has been alright I guess, but he'll prob be overpaid. Bringing in Hronek was absolute unnessecary. They did not need an offensive defencemen that struggles in his own zone. Dermott hasn't been good for the Canucks and I doubt they give him a QA (he's an pending RFA and 26). Poolman was an terrible signing and he's stuck on the Canucks verison of Robidas Island. Pearson was ok last season, but he did not look good in the few games he played last season. His contract fortunately ends next season. The Canucks have a few bottom 6 players like Phil Di Giuseppe and Sheldon Dries that are the types of bottom 6 players on weak teams. (Unremarkable fringer NHLers). Rathbone has taken a step back in the AHL this season. Hoglander was sent to the AHL and has been scoring at a weaker point per game pace than Phil Di Giuseppe and Justin Dowling. Kravstov I doubt what he'll be able to consistently play on the 2nd line and I think he'll be gone after 2024 or 2025. There aren't much promising prospects with the Canucks. Lekkermaki? Raty? Klimovich? The other Elias Pettersson? Rathbone is probably getting to the point where he's too old to be considered to be a prospect. Demko is back, but I still have questions on goalie depth. Silovs has been decent in the few games he started. I don't know if Silovs who is only 22 is ready to be a full time backup. Soggard for Ottawa is the same age and has shown he probably isn't ready. I thought Spencer Martin could be a decent backup who could help Demko not be overplayed and play alright if Demko got hurt, but Martin was absolutely terrible after Demko got hurt.

Maybe this is the year the Leafs finally make it out of the first round? The blueline is weak and Vasy is going to have to bail them out more often. Tampa is lucky that the Islanders/Penguins are ahead of Buffalo/Florida/Ottawa. If Buffalo/Florida/Ottawa had the same amount of points as the Islanders or Penguins they would only be 7/8 points behind. With the way Buffalo/Ottawa are playing that would put pressure on Tampa. That being said I won't be surprised if Justin Holl hands Tampa the series win in Game 7 in Toronto.

Signing Dumba would be Tyler Myers 2.0. Severson is decent, but he'll probably get a contract similar to what Myers signed too. I'm not sold on Ethan Bear.

welp looks like no playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>oilfire</b></div><div>I wouldn't count out anyone in this division. Vegas went from 1st to out of the playoffs in Feb last year. The Kings are 2nd with a -6 goal differential. It's annoying that Minnesota is doing that well with all that dead cap space. McDavid and Draisitil will likely drag Edmonton in to it. Calgary can't score.
It's the wild freaking west.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bogdown</b></div><div>In such a weak bipolar division all it takes is a six game skid for a team like LA or Calgary to fall out of the playoffs. It’s still early in the season with over half of it left to play. We found ourselves in the exact same place last year, maybe this time we get it done. I think that the best thing we can do at this point is try our hand at a few more Bear like trades. I think Cal Foote or Emil Bemstrom would be great targets for cheap late draft picks. I think trading Garland and Pearson would make room for some of our signings in the off-season which would have to include a top 4 LHD like Graves. We should 100% target a RHD at the draft like Dragecevic or Reinbacher who I think is a stud.</div></div>
I could see Vegas not finishing 1st in the Pacific, but I think they won't miss the playoffs like last year (Bruce Cassidy is better than Peter Deboer). Seattle has been surprisingly good and the chances of them making the playoffs are still quite high. It's very likely 5 Central teams make the playoffs this year. Calgary should get their act together. Will the Canucks be able to play well enough to leapfrog teams that could be on losing skids? Can they take advantage when LA or Calgary go on a losing skid?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pensfan21</b></div><div>I agree with all of this. I don't doubt they'll make playoffs, but to me I don't care as much about the streak as I do them winning a round or going on a run. I think the real question that could impact this teams future isn't whether we make playoffs, but whether we win in playoffs. If we don't again I think Hextall could be gone. My question for you is what changes do you want to see for us to be in a contender? Any players you think we should target?</div></div>
Another winger for the middle six would be nice.
A younger 3C (33 or younger) so that Carter can move to 4RW.
Perhaps a defensive defencemen.
