Playoff Kings
If I’m Eichel, I don’t know that the Kings are the best fit. They’re more than one piece away and their best prospects are centers. Are Lemieux and VA better linemates than what he had in Buffalo? This team probably finishes around .500
That being said, if I’m Buffalo I 100% want top center prospects coming back in any Jack trades so they would love to deal with LA

Perfection off season
Lots of thought put into this ACGM which is good to see
My question is would the Bs rather hold on to JD at his $ and hope he turns it around than take a flier on Domi at his $ and hope that he turns it around? If the $ was equal I could go either way, but I would prefer to either keep JD and use that extra cash somewhere else on the roster or use DeBrusk as part of a package for a LD (maybe Keith?)

Alternate Reality- What if Marc Savard never got hurt
Savy was one of my favorite Bs from the last 20 years (as well as the only sweater that I have ever purchased from the pro shop). He and Chara put the Bruins back on the map after the decade they spend wandering the wilderness in the Boston sports landscape. I wouldn’t trade that 2011 season/team for anything, but this was one of the most interesting things that I’ve seen on this site. Nice effort.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Per Ellliotte Friedman from Sportsnet, the Coyotes don't want late picks otherwise they want prospects included. The Bruins are probably picking late and they only have couple B prospects so I don't see a Garland to BOS trade that would make sense for both sides. I think it's better for the Bruins to trade for a rental like Palmieri.
I don't know if NJ would prefer to free up the roster spot and give a chance to someone they already have in their organization or if they would take Senyshyn. 3rd+Senyshyn, if they want to do it, fine.</div></div>
I guess that my issue is if Palmieri is going to cost a 1st anyways, I’d rather go one step further and include Studs and maybe another prospect to get Garland who helps them for this year and the future. I get that AZ wants a high pick and if a team with a top pick want to trade it for CG then I’d tip my cap to them, but if I’m Sweeney I’m calling everyday till I get an answer

What do you think a Garland deal looks like? And what’s the highest you’d go if you’re the Bs?
As for Murray, are you saying Zach plus the 3rd or just the 3rd and if it’s Zach and a 4th or just a 3rd, which would you rather do as a Bs fan?
Appreciate the feedback👍

The bet didnt work
I think the issue is that unlike in years past this team is more than just a tweak away from a cup. If you want to tell me that they can go all out and get Ekholm and Hall/Garland then that’s fine. Those moves significantly move the needle. However, if the plan is some version of a Drew Stafford and JM Liles then I would rather they just stay put than give up assets for the same type of players they already have.
As for their current ceiling, this looks more than a “rough patch.” All of the concerns that were there before the season started; 5v5 scoring past the 1st line, young D that would be on a learning curve and need to be sheltered are still at the forefront. There’s too much reliance on the health of bottom of the roster guys (Miller, Kase, etc) for them to be a serious contender. Go big or stand down.
But that’s just me

Buyers Market
These are probably very much in line with what they would like to do: add without sacrificing long term assets or complicating expansion draft roster decisions. Likely very close to what Sweeney would be offering<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>You clearly haven't watch the Hawks. He's been on their top pair for a little bit now. BUT on the other hand you might have been watching because he's on your to pair too. So it kinda seems like you know you're trying to take advantage of another team in which case just offer a 7th rounder for Kane half retained. The Hawks will protect Zadorov at expansion.</div></div>
Would you take a 5th for Kane?

I see these trades as either or. I don’t think that the Bs would give up 3 of their top 10 prospects (granted it’s Boston so they’re lower ceiling guys) and their top two picks when they need to start restocking the system, but they could make one of these. If it was Bjork, Vaak, Kase and a 1st for Mantha would you take that?

I didn’t fill in the lineups as I was thinking more roster moves than line up ones.
I don’t know that Sweeney makes a move for D only because he never has (except for JM Liles) and they are already elite in goal prevention. Personally, I have been all about getting a top 4 LD since they got pushed around in the TB series last summer. However, it’s never been Donny’s style.
In a perfect world DeBrusk, Coyle, Krecji, and Smith start producing (I’m not putting any confidence in getting anything out of Kase) and they don’t need to do anything.
Thinking as a GM though, if they don’t make a move and lose in the playoffs because they can’t score then that comes right back to Sweeney. You can always pass a failed trade off as at least you tried (think Kase or Rick Nash).

Bruins making Moves
Since nobody asked, here’s my take:
The Bs need a healthy Matt Grzelcyk to get past WAS and NYI. If Lauzon and Zboril are at 100 % then they are have even better chances.
However, this year is set up as perfectly as possible for the Bruins in that they won’t need to play TB before the conference finals and TOR before the Cup finals. That won’t exist next year. Moving forward they are the 3rd best team in the division (possibly 4th depending on FLA) and are fighting uphill to get past the 1st or 2nd round. Now is the time to go all in. And if that means acquiring a D with term that forces them to make hard decisions then so be it. Leave Ekholm exposed, leave Gryz exposed, make a trade to entice Seattle to take someone else.
Feel free to rip this post

Forsberg and Edler
Love the Forsberg trade (agree that NSH doesn’t retain much if any, but there’s enough cap room for the Bs that they won’t need it).
Not super sold on Edler and I think Lauzon coming back in a month takes the need for him away. Gryz’s health is gonna be what determines if they make a move on D. If he can’t play and they don’t make a move for a top 4 LD then they won’t make it out of the division rounds.

I think the Bs will only go after 2 types of D:
A) a clear upgrade over Grzelcyk that they would protect in expansion
B) someone on an expiring that they don’t have to protect
I have been on the Murray bandwagon all year but I think that Sweeney will prioritize scoring over D

Can we talk about Gryz
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Ya. He played behind zdeno chara and torey krug dude....
When malkin was in his prime playing behind Crosby, i still would have described him as a first line caliber center.</div></div>
My point is that he was great as 3rd pair. His ceiling might be 2nd pair. Malkin was the 2nd overall pick and played 1C minutes whenever Crosby was out. He was a known commodity. There are tons of guys who had to play below their abilities because they were blocked by better players. There are also tons of guys who fell victim to the law of diminishing returns. Sometimes you know ahead of time (Messier, etc), sometimes you need to throw the guy out and see what happens. I can pretty much cut and paste my thoughts from here on out: I don’t think the left side is good enough is Gryz isn’t playing everyday at a high level. If they lose because he can’t/doesn’t and they don’t have a backup plan then they flushed the last year of the core down the toilet.

Can we talk about Gryz
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>This year? Not really. Prior to this year he was playing behind Zdeno Chara and Torey Krug, so, ya.
This year he’s had three healthy games, and three games where he had to get pulled back because he’s clearly got some sort of nagging injury that they’re rushing him back from. Those resulted in games where he played 10-12 minutes, without getting time in the third period. The healthy games he’s normally second on the bruins in TOI behind McAvoy. There’s a 24 minute in there, a 22 minute in there. If that’s 3rd pair minutes, well, there are a whole lot of third pair d men in this league.</div></div>
Sorry, I should have said it better. I meant that he had only played 3rd pair up till now. It could just be a coincidence that since he started playing 20+ minutes a night vs better competition he’s missed 1/2 the games. It could be that he’s better suited for something else. That’s the gamble. If it works then I’ll be the first to admit that I was wrong. If it doesn’t then I’ll be disappointed that they blew the last year of the core
