Oh I should clarify, it's not a bad contract at all if it's retained. Some team is gonna really like it. It's a bad contract for the leafs to take on unless they're trading Dermott/Holl for him because we have no money, i'd rather go cheaper for the depth add

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Radu47</b></div><div>A lot of good input here but they key foible is how valuable RFAs are especially relative to short term UFAs especially young cost controlled ones
UFAs very replaceable thru FA

Yeah, it's true, RFAs can be hard to deal with and young players with cost control are very valuable. The problem is, not a lot of these young guys are gonna be getting into the lineup or becoming stars, so when there is better talent available, whether you're flipping it or keeping it, sometimes you gotta do it.
As for the capping at 24, you're right on that too, but given the fact ELCs are exempt, taking 23 and 24 year olds is a necessity for a team that is going to have no system or prospects yet.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lord_Simek</b></div><div>Noah Rod also makes this team. Swiss are a little short on grinder types and Rod provides an edge in the bottom six that they could really use. He can also put up points if needed.</div></div>
Yeah I was thinking the same thing, he was my final cut. I just wasn't sure if he had the experience and skill needed to beat out the other bottom 6 guys, but I think I will move him in front of Vermin. He's really the only one I think Rod can beat out here, Hoffmann, Moser, Thurkauf, and Pius Suter have been very good in Europe and would be hard to cut.

Cool, good to know. I figured he would be very close since he is younger and arguably has the most room to grow of all the bottom 6 guys. He was my last cut, so i'll throw him back in and take out Noebels or Pfoederl.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Capitalfail67</b></div><div>Russia looks a lot less scary without Kuzy...</div></div>
I tend to agree, the center depth is just not there to support the rest of the lineup. The winger depth is pretty insane tho, considering I had to leave some decent wingers like Radulov, Buchnevich, and Anismiov close to the cut. They also aren't the youngest team, so unless some guys like Zub, Romanov, Podkolzin, and Denisenko become top end talents by the time this happens, they might be in trouble against teams like Canada, the US, and Sweden who are very young, fast, and have way more depth at C and D.

I would agree that he would move up the lineup by then, its just because of the uncertainty of the prospects that I left them lower in the lineup or as the final cuts. I'd have him as the 2/3 LW by that time if all goes well in his development

I would agree with that, the only reason I had Nuutivaara in is that he is a guarantee, and that he is a defensive dman who a lot of coaches will like for an international squad like this one.

Honestly I didn't really put the goalies in order cuz all three are extremely good and I would probably run a 2-3 goalie rotation if I was the coach. Helley probably should get the start, but Bishop has been extremely solid the last two years and who knows what Gibson could do in front of a better team.

I agree completely, seems like they have the best defence core of any nation (even Canada and the US) and they have a forward core that is more than good enough to beat the Americans and Fins. Having Markstrom and Lehner as a goaltending duo would also be extremely good if the last two years are any indication.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>firezfurx</b></div><div>Marchand and Bergeron will be done. I'd give their spots to Konecny and Barzal.
Same with Doughty and Gio. And won't Makar be team NA?</div></div>
I think Marchand will still be around, I would be very close to giving Bergeron's spot to Barzal but I know the management of these teams typically take the older guys with international experience. Doughty and Gio, Doughty's contract all but guarantees he will be around for a while longer and again, the experience and veteran presence would make him pretty valuable. Giordano I could see retiring the year before this, so i would probably put someone like Theodore/Morrissey/Ellis in his spot.
For Makar, I don't know if they're going to do another North America team, and this was purely hypothetical since we don't know when the next international event with NHL players will be.

The Compliance Buyout Team
Hey guys, just wanted to firm this up:
There are quite a few teams who don't really need to use a CBO, but for the purpose of this ACGM I added the most fitting players for that team. Examples include:
- Goligoski: Arizona
- John Moore: Boston
- Ian Cole : Colorado
- Andreas Johnsson : Toronto
I'd make a case for Fleury or Oshie too, even Tyjo in Tampa.
These teams probably wouldn't use it, but if they did this is the most likely person IMO

Whats Holding this team back
I'm glad to see I started some good discussion.
I think a lot of people agree with me on the fact that the main need here is a top 6 forward, either a 2C or a 2RW, it's gonna be interesting to see what happens at the TDL.

Creating Room this Summer ANA MTL and FLA
Notes:
- I don't know if you would have to pay to dump Baertschi. Might be able to do 5th + him for a 5th or something. Minor detail, the idea is right.
- Gaudette needs more. I would think somewhere around 2M or so, for 2-3 years. Similar to the deal of Connor Brown a few years ago.
- One more year is gonna be needed for Markstrom. It sucks because of Demko and DiPietro, but he's gonna want that 4th year because he will get it anywhere else. Again, minor detail.
- Motte, Virtanen, and Leivo all make sense.
- I would sign one of Tyler Madden and Linus Karlsson, and William Lockwood 100% (UFA in August if not signed)
- Interesting one to watch is Tanev. My opinion is that if you are going to trade Stetcher (clears about 3m in RFA money), you should be aiming higher than Tanev. Do you go for someone like Barrie and give him 7M? I don't think so, but it could be an option.
- I do like the contract you gave Tanev, it makes sense even if it is a little bit steep from my preference. If you are keeping Tanev:
- I don't really like moving Stetcher, I would rather see him stay. Honestly I would trade Benn and use the money to sign Stetcher. Leave Fantenberg as the 7th and reunite Stetcher and Tryamkin from a few years back. I love the depth Defence that we could have, but IDK if I trust Fantenberg, Tryamkin, Juolevi, Rafferty, etc. yet. I would sign Stetcher for another year and move him at the deadline if needed. Remember, Edler only has one year left after this.
Also, the cap is projected to go up by about 1M, so that would make up the difference in what I am suggesting. (I'll post my similar ACGM later)

ITS FINALLY MARCHMENT TIME IN TORONTO
I would personally rather have Gauthier come out of the lineup rather than Timashov, I think Marchment provides the same size as Gauthier but with way more physicality and presence. I think it would become a 4 man rotation though.
Marchment hasn't had the greatest season with the Marlies so far and has only just became fully healthy, so I wouldn't count on him sticking around this time around. Probably sits in the box for a day or two, gets sent back down, and comes back up at the next injury

I just figured that Binnington isn't proven enough (in terms of time) to justify leaving him a lone. Elliot has been a solid starter when healthy, so he seemed like a cheap option. Maybe a better actual fringe goalie is more fitting?

Defensive liability but look at those forwards
The Leafs deal would have to be at least Bracco and a 2nd to be fair.
As a Leafs fan, don't wanna lose Bracco and I doubt Dubas will trade him.
As a VGK fan, I would rather keep Miller and get rid of Engelland and maybe leave Schuldt in the AHL for one year to make cap room. That being said, the deal makes a lot of sense to help both teams in their cap and roster situations, especially if Miller is being misused and Bracco doesn't make the Leafs out of camp.
I like the Eakin trade, and agree that Holden/Reaves would go for low picks. They would be traded separately and get a little more value tho.
