who should the canucks DRAFT at 10 or trade up
My thoughts at 10:
-Zegras (Highly doubt he falls past Buffalo)
- Dach (doubt he falls, if he falls to ANA there's no way they pass... right?)
-Caufield (he's small, but has seriously talent and scores like crazy)
-Boldy (solid choice)
-Krebs ( ^ )
There are some defence we could take, but I'm very hesitant on Broberg, who has shown limited versatility. Soderstrom The defence in this draft come around 15, where there's A LOT of them (Harley, York, Soderstrom, Broberg all could go around then). None have shown enough to surpass the huge amount of forward talent we see above, except maybe soderstrom. The only reason to go Defence is because of positional need, but at 10 i really don't think it makes sense.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>I expect better from you Bren... this is why Mitch >. (idk if that's sarcastic yet, it depends on your answer) Pesce has been easily one of the biggest reasons Carolina are playing Boston at this point in time, Nylander isn't gonna be the first ask, but because you're not moving Marner, Matthews or Tavares, Nylander is also the most realistic, William Nylander's 7 mil (6.9 but who cares?) compared to Pesce making less than 5, not only does this clear cap space, it sorts out Toronto's biggest need. Carolina also have less than 0 reason to move him, so an "overpay" in a sense would be needed, William Nylander's value is also at the lowest it has been in forever...</div></div>
Noone realizes that this was me fooling around, not supposed to be realistic or even fair lol. You and I both know that my ACGMs are better than this lol

Keeping and losing
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bunnymcfoo</b></div><div>The idea of NOT locking Timo up for as many years as possible at a reasonably low pricetag is just completely confusing to me - like, why on earth would you not lock him down for at least 5? And yeah, add another million <em>at least</em> to that Labanc salary - arbitration eligible or not, he's more than earned it.
And dude, Donskoi is gooooooooone. It makes me sad as hell because I love him and his Playoff Mode, but he's been in PDB's doghouse for literal months now and I don't think that one goal (no matter how great) is going to get him out of there. (I don't think he's ever going to be a high goal count kinda guy - he's a passer, not a shooter - but god forbid we play to that strength and try him as a center - neeeever gonna happen here.) Anyway, his fiancee didn't even try out for her spot on the 49ers cheer squad this year and I think it's at least partly because they both know the writing's on the wall :( :( :(</div></div>
Just wanna know if these changes seem right to you, I appreciate your thoughts. This was about keeping as many guys as possible, not just having the best situation. So:
- Cut Donskoi (Gain 2.5 million)
-Change Labanc to 4x4 (lose 1 million)
- Add 1 million to Meier and lock up long term (lose 1-1.5 million)
Sound reasonable? We could add a cheap depth guy in there with some tinkering too if needed.

I think Bracco would fill in that role, if not someone like Korshkov, so it might not be needed. However, he would be a great signing either way cuz the marlies could use him if guys get called up.

Reeves, Eakin and Miller will be gone, thats makes up for the 8.5m needed to sign Karlsson, Gusev and Schuldt. The rest of the team would be set. What would make more sense is for you to trade for Miller for a 2nd rounder. Sign and trade Kapanen to someone like the Yotes who don't have a 20 goal scorer. The end result you might fair better in the end</div></div>
I said above in a comment this idea:
To Car: Kapanen
To VGK: 2nd + low forward prospect
To TOR: Colin Miller
thoughts?

Not that I mind Zaitsev and his 4.5m isn't excessive, but teams want cap flexibility and five years is too long for teams to accept.
Canes trading two of four RHD, and one with excellent $$$ and term. An easy no from the Canes.</div></div>
I completely forgot to consider the removal of two rhd, so great points.
I would take out Brown and TVR, trade Brown for someone similar instead.
I also don't think it makes any sense to trade Pesce, but as I said, i was just curious if something like this COULD work.
not reasonable tho, I agree, just wanted to think about it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chips_n_beer</b></div><div>Makes more sense however Vegas will trade Miller for at least a 2nd rounder to dump Salary. Knights have to trim roughly 8-8.5m in trades to make room for the cap. They won't be looking for any additions for this year. Their team is already set. Miller would make sense to go to the Leafs, however it can only be either a combination of picks or actual prospects</div></div>
I've done some looking at their team, and it seems to me like trading Reaves/Eakin is the best way to dump salary, this is simply a hockey trade.
That being said, you make a lot of sense when you say they can't take Kappy back, so maybe we're looking at a 3-way deal where Kappy goes to say... Carolina for some prospects, and then the specs go to VGK.
How's that sound? Makes me really curious now

I would agree, except IDK if it's worth it to lose Donskoi and Dillon for just Nyquist, I'm thinking of maybe changing Donskoi for a cheaper option and locking up some of the guys here longer term - more cash to them.

2018-19 GM Game - News and Important Info Thread
Effective immediately, I will be stepping down from my role as a General Manager in this league.
Thanks to everyone for a great season, and I would especially like to thank the BOG for their hard work and commitment. It was a really fun time, as this is a well-run and very planned out league.
Sadly, my time is taken up by school, sports, and my personal life, and I do not believe that I have time to start over again. I was barely able to keep this going as is, and I know that my life will only be getting more busy as I move on through my final years of high school, especially with finding a job soon.
Good luck to all, I hope to see you all around CF, and will continue to be apart of this awesome community of hockey fans. Thanks again,

Marlies Report - Playoffs Round 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Laudan</b></div><div>I actually hope they will start transiting Duszak and Hollowel into wingers, cause size as their handicap as Ds unless they will be paired with 6'4 guys that we dont have atm ( BOS & Krug ), also with that kind of transition you get two-way forwards and quality PK-lers, with speed and currently hot on scoring as they are atm</div></div>
Not a horrible idea and I like your thought process, but with how much depth we have up front and the problems we have on D, I think the more D prospects, even if OFD, the better. Gives us a chance to get lucky with as many guys as possible, not every prospect develops after all.

Completely agree that he is a capable RD. I would run something like Reilly - Hainsey and Muzzin- Dermott, obviously depends on who signs. I also think that Sandin and even Rosen make it clear that Dermott needs to play the right to make room on the left side. We have a lot of RHD prospects tho, with Duszak, Hollowell, Lilly, and some lesser guys.

Marlies Report - Playoffs Round 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jamiepo</b></div><div>I haven’t had a chance to watch Duszak in action. Of the three Rhd (Duszak, Hollowell and Lilly) which do you think would be most likely to be pushed up next season. I was thinking Duszak due to age and importance to the organization. (I don’t think his development is as important as hollowell and Lilly).
Do you have any opinions on that?</div></div>
I would agree with the fact that Duszak’s development is not as important to The Leafs organization, but the problem is his exposure to the coaches. He has barely played with the Marlies because They are so deep on d and have had a lot of help with Rosen coming back and Hollowell coming in.
I think he is the most likely to get a spot, but that Borgman and Rosen are going to be the ones who get a spot and not one of these guys unless the need for a RHD is that large. If it is; Duszak probably gets the first chance, but all 3 could be options. Hollowell needs a year of AHL at least, and Lilly is too valuable to rush.
I haven’t seen that much of Duszak sadly, so he probably won’t start with the Leafs, though he could get a call up.

thanks ! basically took the ideas found in BleacherReport, Pension Plan Puppets, and The Athletic. I've made about 5 of them this year just for fun.
I might make one after the year, depends how things go lol.
I started making these because I love watching the Marlies and got kinda tired of how many Leafs things are here. Thought this would be different, and I figured it was a good idea for real leafs fans, who actually wanna know about the FRANCHISE and not just the Team.
I am also big into Sports Management and Business, analysing players and teams has become a hobby of mine. Looking to go into University for this, we'll see :)
If you have any questions about any of the marlies or stuff, feel free to ask!

It's true, every single trade gets that message. Most of these trades were actually FA signings, or I traded guys like Roussel straight up for a low pick, and traded that pick for someone else.
I've actually struggled a lot with that problem, trading with the Leafs and Bolts is pretty much impossible.
This one is actually out of date too, i'm half way through year two and I've added a lot, my minor team has 86 rated defence lmao.

Now that that’s out of the way Merzlikins will be in the NHL next season and we won’t buyout Dubinsky, probably would move Wennberg before buying out Dubinsky too. Milano is probably gone too, he’s turned into a bust and needs a new place to play.</div></div>
I'd tend to agree with almost everything you've said, but as I said, this was a test to see how many they COULD fit, and isn't really an accurate assumption of what the team will look like. I would also tend to think that depending how far they go in this Playoff, they could be giving more incentive for guys like Bob and Breadman to stay. Although I would tend to agree that Duchene's contract gives very little reason for CBJ to resign him. I'm hoping that Panarin will stay instead, and if you make that change it should work cap wise.
Milano is a bust, but for a cheap contract he's still been great in the AHL and might be worth the risk.
Merzlikins I forgot about, he will get in.
The Dubinsky buyout is highly unlikely, but I would much prefer it to trading away Wennberg, who despite the bad year should still have promise. I would tend to agree that the Wennberg trade makes more sense, I just wasn't sure what his value is, and I know that Dubinsky isn't worth half of what he's being paid.
