Flyers Drafted Players On Other Teams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caufield</b></div><div>Don't forget Cauf... oh wait, never mind</div></div>
This joke doesn't make any sense. If I was doing a list of players the Flyers could have drafted but didn't, then it'd be funny.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>I'm banking on us not getting out from under Coots and Hayes, while also having Frost, Cates, and Laughton who can play C. I think we lack depth and playmaking abilities on the wings and would like another opportunity of maybe one panning out for us. Farabee looks rough but I think that's due to injury. Would love to have Cam back but his injury seems just as mysterious as Ellis, TK may be moved, and who knows who else. Tuomala seems like a bust, and we also have Foerster who should be a C, although who knows with that. And isn't Cutter a C as well? Just feels like we have too many and this guy would just be lost in the shuffle.</div></div>
Think they're keeping TK at least for this TDL. Agreed with Tuomala. However, I think wingers are a little easier to draft/develop. Similar to in baseball, someone may not pan out in CF but can shift to LF or RF. Cutter is a LW who they say can play C and they want him to, but until he actually plays it who knows. I think Frost may be better on the wing long term to be honest, unless he really steps up on D (he's been better this year). Laughton is kind of like Raffl in my eyes, can play anything but probably best as bottom six winger.

Agreed the Flyres accept, but I feel like getting a C is actually really helpful. The prospect pool at C is still pretty unproven except Cates, and the NHL depth is rough.

I mean, I am not saying there isn't any truth to the rumors. I am just saying that it seems a bit odd. They're really not in any place to make it this year. As an offseason deal for Meier, if he's a rental elsewhere? That seems to make more sense to me. Doing it now just seems a bit odd I guess. Waiting until the draft allows them to use those picks if they don't like the asking price.
Also, are they considered to be strong prospect wise? Feel like I haven't heard much about many upcoming Blues prospects after Neighbours and Snug.

Busy TDL and offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DH28Hockey</b></div><div>A little bit of both? I think the first 3 are things they should do and will do something similar to.
The J.T Miller thing is something I think Fletcher will try and do, not something I'd do. They clearly want a top-6 center and I think he'd be the only one available on the market. I'd stay away from adding a contract like that and would rather they move Provorov for futures, but I doubt the FO would do that.
Severson... I have a lot of conflicting thoughts on. What I gave is a light deal, but honestly he absolutely isn't better than a 4D level and I can't see any team offering more than say a million and an extra year more than what I have here, even with the limited number of RHD on the market. Mostly just signed him because I think TDA and Risto are bad fits for York (even though Risto has had a quietly good season)</div></div>
The UFA market for D next season is AWFUL from what I've seen. Severson is probably the best player on it, by far (Klingberg could've been but....yeah). I cannot see a scenario where he is signing for only 600k more than Risto to be completely honest. And I think there are teams that can and will offer him more money, including just staying in NJ. Don't disagree that they need better RHD but...there's a reason its a premium.

I honestly think that that isn't enough for McCabe, at least from CHI perspective. He's signed for multiple years after this, PLUS retention? I know he's not a top defenseman, but they're going to want at least the 24 1st, the prospect others mentioned (Minten), and another pick at minimum.

First three trades I think are relativly realistic. Only one I could see being different is JVR to Dallas, I just have this feeling Dallas is going to do a bigger move, but I do think JVR could get a 2nd from a contender. Obviously, Hayes is a big question mark but I think he could get moved for like, Rampa and a 2nd in the offseason. I think my question is, are you doing these trades/signings as if they're your opinion or what you think Fletcher would do? I could see Fletcher signing Severson, but there's no way he gets only 5.6 mil, and also I think that'd be a dumb move for the Flyers honestly. Miller/Provorov just seems silly but it is fun to dunk on Chucky. I also think they expect Gauthier to be with the team next year.

SJ could take that, but I would say: why the hell would St. Louis do that? Isn't the point of trading Tarasenko and ROR to reload the prospect pool?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Yeah, but Karlsson was considered one of the three best, if not THE best, defensemen in hockey at that time . . . and he's not having a bad season several years later, either.
Holding Chychrun out may have boomeranged on Arizona, too. Suppose he was traded today . . . would he be game-ready before the end of the month, after his weeks-long layoff and then some familiarization practices? And Rob Blake may be taking the same view of the Kings as some of us Los Angeles adherents have: the Kings aren't Jakob Chychrun away from contending for the Stanley Cup this season. All of which is to say that I don't think that he's going to be stampeded into overpaying for Chychrun.</div></div>
Sure, but do you think the kings will be contending in the two seasons after this one? Which he's under contract for under 5 million for?

My Thoughts on their Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Los Angeles has two NHL-qualified LhDs under contract for next season, and Bjornfot is one of them. So trading Bjornfot would be an odd move for Rob Blake.
Because the cap situation changes over time, the Kings' cap position isn't as dire as it may seem. Including Sean Walker in a trade for Chychrun would probably render Los Angeles cap compliant.
That being said, I don't think that the Kings are going to pay more than the 2024 first, Alex Turcotte or Sam Fa-gem-o, and Jordan Spence for Chychrun; they might add their 2023 second or a lesser prospect, but that's about it -- I don't see them trading two more first-round draft picks after having traded away the 2022 pick.</div></div>
I mean, adding Chychrun means they would also have two NHL LHD. I see your point. But I think that they could deal with that. I see your point about that with what they give up but, I can't imagine Arizona accepts that to be honest. I mean, EK65 got two firsts as a pending UFA.

Yes I agree, hence why I included a Stetcher trade. I am not saying the Red Wings SHOULD get him, they are just an example of the type of team this season that could add a player like him.

I don't think that those two things are incompatible. I agree with your assessment, but think about how every year some sort of defenseman gets traded that we all god "what? why?" in reaction to it. Beaulieu comes to mind recently.

I was just making a joke because the two replies I got were the complete opposite.
Though, if you look at the description I wrote, I just chose DET as an example of a bubble playoff team. Its not uncommon for hopeful bubble teams to pick up depth players, like Stecher. Ottawa could be another good example. I chose DET because they were early in the alphabetical order of teams I think are playoff hopefuls, versus contenders or those out of it.

Exploring Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>Yeah, I think we saw how that went this year with having very offensive defensemen paired with 3rd pairing shutdown D playing way above their heads. We've learned the lessons of John Klingberg. Well take our swing at Graves, Garikov, Mayfield, and Severson in FA.</div></div>
I mean if you are implying that you should not have any offensive d-men then I just disagree with you. Klingberg is also more expensive and older than DeAngelo and expects to play higher minutes. Also, I highly, highly doubt that Anaheim is an attractive destination for those guys especially Graves and Severson with how NJ's season is going. Anaheim is a frequent appearance on NTCs for example. I don't mean that to insult, but they are having an awful season and seem to be still stuck in the rebuild rather than emerging like we thought coming out of last season. I feel like maybe you are taking this trade idea as an insult to the team, which I don't mean to do. But, you should probably temper your expectations a bit with those kind of targets.
