STL move on from older guys and get good return for their retool/small rebuild
PIT get an immediate impactful return in exchange of long term success</div></div>
Saad makes more sense, Krug seems like a terrible pick up to me I don't know. When I think back to the 2016/17 runs Pittsburgh had, their defensemen were all pretty solid and deep on both ends of the ice (maybe Letang is not a defensive dynamo, but he's Letang). Krug doesn't justify his money with his output now either.

CBJ aren’t trying to get rid of Boqvist, but with Jiricek coming, he’s likely to get squeezed out considering his high-offense play style.
Was about to say, isn’t there questions about whether Cam will even play again?
Which, I guess it means he could be a good LTIRetire guy for a team needing cap, but I wouldn’t move much (if anything) for him right now.</div></div>
Yeah agree with you about Boqvist, I personally would like the Flyers to get him but it'd have to be more than just Hayes or maybe less/lower picks.

Saad I can see fs especially since he’s from Pit
But Krug provides a lot of backend offense (granted he’s been very average to bad at defense this year)</div></div>
Hey, I'm a Flyers fan so I get your frustration with Hextall. Thing is he only tends to do moves when he basically has no choice (injuries, fighting for playoff spot) or if he just really really wants somebody (usually a tweener/prospect).
Yeah Saad is from PIT but idk. If they JUST got Saad as a Zucker replacement, I'd get that more. Krug though idk. You're the Pens fan, but don't they have a lot of D who provide offense from the back? Letang, Petry, and POJ I would think are offense guys.

my dream come true
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MaxH</b></div><div>Pretty much... makes this team competitive and see what St. Louis can do with a real team. No prospect is guaranteed to be good. PLD and Huberdeau have proved it. And think of the TV ratings in the city.</div></div>
I generally tend to agree with you in regards to prospects. That's why a team that is ready to make a push, or wants to get over the edge (win a cup versus 3rd round lets say) shouldn't hoard picks and prospects. The Canadiens are not in those situations though. Trading Barron and Harris is just silly with how young they are and they have been playing in the NHL. They're not guys in juniors or overseas. Also, I can absolutely guarantee you that the Canadiens both 1.) will be ****ed with the cap implications of Huberdeau's extension and possible decline and 2.) are not concerned at all about their TV ratings and financial situation.

Krug and Saad
I have to admit I like the Saad fit even if he's another old guy. My real question though is: Will a declining Torey Krug really be the piece that makes the Penguins elite again?

A Goalie Please
If the Jets decide to blow it up, they definitely could do worse than this offer. I do agree with Boos though that only 1 year left makes that a bit of an overpayment. Maybe if there's a reasonable extension as a part of the deal?

So...your dream come true is to make the team more cap strapped, maybe a little better short term but not long term, and make it more French?

Yeah I think that that kind of low cost, younger energy player is what the Penguins should be trying to keep in their bottom 6. I was a fan of Foegele's in CAR but no reason to give up that player for him.

Revised ACGM for next year
Flyers fan but want to offer some neutral feedback, I find team building so interesting.
Garland as a fit is good, but I don't know why the Canucks would do that to be honest. Yes its less years, but Garland is better and not super old. Nylander and a 2nd isn't enough to take Granlund. Foegle for O'Connor seems lateral to me. Edmundson is an ok pick up but think they should keep Poulin, and I like the Compher 3C. Gurianov idk. Feels similar to when they got Galchenyuk...if it works you look genius, if it doesn't? Not a fan of Parise deal, the Penguins are already so old and I know he's had a good year but the way the Penguins try to play vs NYI fits what Parise is better. He will have the Carter effect, I can guarantee it. Erne is ok as depth.
Think some other FA targets they could explore instead of Gurianov and Parise could be like Kerfoot, Pius Suter, Sundqvist, maybe a Miles Wood reclamation project?

Year One Picks and Prospects
Don't know too much about the prospects you have them drafting, but do you think that guys ready to be a NHL 3rd line guy? I think they should draft the best player available but I also kinda hope they target RHD and C.
I think Hayes deal is good. Foudy not in the NHL though? Feels like the kind of player they would want Torts to try to "fix" like Frost. Honestly, other than the cap space, I'm not a fan of that return for Laughton. Dude has almost 50 points this year, if they trade him they could definitely get something better than that with his cap hit and term. Those prospects numbers didn't blow me away when I looked here. TDA, the sooner he is gone the better. TK, I really really doubt they trade him, but if they do this return is "ok" to me. Lucius is rated highly but when I looked him I saw his skating is not the best. If he's going to the Hurricanes, I would push to get one of their top RHD prospects personally. Provorov deal, I think its "ok" also. I like Spence, Turcotte if he can have the same Torts effect would look like a good pick up since he's struggled a lot. Kinda wish you could squeeze a bit more out for Petersen since that's a lot of dead cap but overall I like it and want Provorov outta here. Seeler is a good TDL deal I think.

Attempt at Realistic Caps Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>brady_t12</b></div><div>Take out Suzdalev on Vancouver deal. Rest looks pretty good, depth signings are a little odd, would rather just use some younger guys from Hershey over random UFAs.</div></div>
Fair enough, I admittedly don't know every team's prospects situation. I think the depth signing is just how NHL teams usually go plus I'm a little traumatized as a Flyers fan when they just tried to rely on rookies. I kinda imagined those three depth guys as being on PTOs but no good way to represent them.

Feasible rebuildretool moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sk540</b></div><div>Firstly, signing a UFA then flipping him, is something that pretty much never happens, so that's moot with Stecher.
Secondly, this team blows. Unless you're saying that this will be another year of trying to get a top pick, then yes, it's still rebuilding.</div></div>
This is just categorically false, signing a UFA that is then flipped happens all the time. Especially on one year deals. Just from this year: Klingberg, Stetcher, Bjugstad, Motte, Niederreiter, Namestnikov are all examples of 1 or 2 year deals signed this offseason and flipped by the TDL. Unless you are saying the thread starter is saying to sign these guys and immediatley flip them, which is pretty silly of you to interpret when its stated they are deadline deals. You also say "this team blows" as if the Flyers should be trying to win the cup next year. Are you a Flyers fan? If so, do you really think they should be making moves to win the cup next year with how the team is constructed, versus "blowing" and trying to rebuild? If you aren't, are you just being snarky to dunk on them?

Not bad additions (except maybe Quick), but I do think your GM has the right idea here. They're not lock to make it, and that's a lot to give up for a team who is just opening a (hopeful) window for many years.

If Fliggy Goes On LTIR
Probably take that as the Flyers? JVR has played much better than the stats show, we just suck. Torts has gotten some really good hustle out of him and he can still score, we just have no one to get the puck to him. Didn't know Foligno was injured, sucks to see as he's had a nice little bounce back from last season.
