The funny thing is, I got the idea from the multitude of Leafs fans on here who have included Risto in their Armchairs. Assumed there was some traction there lol.

Agreed. I'd have to imagine they'd want at least a 1st rounder for him. If teams / fans think that is unfair or an unreasonable ask, fair enough, but they aren't going to move him for mid round picks.

NY was unable to acquire Tarasenko with retained salary again. They did so on last year's deal. Unable to acquire same player , with retention, again.
NY had to take his full salary.

The Dubas Plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>What's a humble tailor doing here? I think you could argue to bump up the return, but there's no way Chicago declines it purely on principle. I just really hate estimating cap dump trades because we are often very wrong here (look at Mrazek and Zaitsev for example, think we all expected there to be more attached to them).</div></div>
Hockey fans come from all walks of life, my good doctor. I just happen to be both a tailor and an Armchair GM. haha.
I thought Zaitsev was about right, with it being a TDL move and only the 23-24 season left on his deal. Plus, almost half his salary was paid on July 1, 2022, and then more than half his remaining salary was paid by OTT before he was traded to CHI. So there was very little salary owed to him post TDL. Sending the 38th overall in the Mrazek deal was definitely a bit much, though. But at the time we needed a stop-gap goalie that would be solid and professional enough while also not stealing CHI too many games. I just think that there will be better and more lucrative ways we can use our cap space during this league wide cap crunch going into next season. We can't take them all either. So, in providing a service to teams, taking on bad contracts for them, we can afford to command more and hold out for the highest bidders. Not only that, but if we use historical trade data, the going rate for that sort of cap dump is in the realm of an early 2nd round pick plus, value-wise. If they aren't desperate enough to pay that price than he shouldn't be a cap dump target and they can try their luck with another team.

The Dubas Plan
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>Good point about Dubas and goalies. I felt like considering the FA options that a trade and sign of Hellebuyck would be worth it (he's not ancient) but I see your point. I guess looking in FA I just wasn't sure who could be a legit starter other than bringing back Jarry (eh) or someone like Andersen who there's complicated history with. Maybe buy high on Hill, but the history of signing the hot goalie on the cup run is not great.</div></div>
Personally I would just sign a 1A/1B tandem (or trade for someone cheap like Vejemelka from ARZ) and hope it works more like CAR's goaltending than TOR's over the past few yrs. But I also just think goaltending is completely voodoo and basically comes down to luck when evaluating 99% of goalies, there are only 2-3 consistently elite goalies (yes Helle is one of them tbf)

The Dubas Plan
I like the direction here but still think the bottom 6 is really lacking in offensive ability still. I did one of these last week and had them buying Carter out and going after someone like Ross Colton's RFA rights with their 2024 2nd. Buy Carter out, do that deal with Tampa (theoretically they'll take the asset that they can then use to flip for someone else who is cheaper either this summer or at the deadline), sign Colton to something like 4x3.5.

Yeah Saad is from PIT but idk. If they JUST got Saad as a Zucker replacement, I'd get that more. Krug though idk. You're the Pens fan, but don't they have a lot of D who provide offense from the back? Letang, Petry, and POJ I would think are offense guys.</div></div>

Eh, CBJ can do better for Boqvist. I wouldn’t want to include him in a Hayes trade. I still stand by a 2nd/3rd plus Foudy and/ Bemstrom.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>CBJ deal: Sure but think CBJ may not want to get rid of Boqvist
MIN deal: No for both sides
NYI deal: No for both sides, especially NYI
SEA deal: No for SEA</div></div>
CBJ aren’t trying to get rid of Boqvist, but with Jiricek coming, he’s likely to get squeezed out considering his high-offense play style.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>Isles would pass. Atkinson will be 34 and coming off neck surgery, and Seeler is a 6th/7th D at best on a contender. Why would the Islanders give up a guy who's still somewhat productive (15-16-31 in 49 GP averages out to a 25-26-51 line over 82 GP) *and* a somewhat decent pick to save a measly $1.25M next season?</div></div>
Was about to say, isn’t there questions about whether Cam will even play again?
Which, I guess it means he could be a good LTIRetire guy for a team needing cap, but I wouldn’t move much (if anything) for him right now.

Revised ACGM for next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bluspy88</b></div><div>Flyers fan but want to offer some neutral feedback, I find team building so interesting.
Garland as a fit is good, but I don't know why the Canucks would do that to be honest. Yes its less years, but Garland is better and not super old. Nylander and a 2nd isn't enough to take Granlund. Foegle for O'Connor seems lateral to me. Edmundson is an ok pick up but think they should keep Poulin, and I like the Compher 3C. Gurianov idk. Feels similar to when they got Galchenyuk...if it works you look genius, if it doesn't? Not a fan of Parise deal, the Penguins are already so old and I know he's had a good year but the way the Penguins try to play vs NYI fits what Parise is better. He will have the Carter effect, I can guarantee it. Erne is ok as depth.
Think some other FA targets they could explore instead of Gurianov and Parise could be like Kerfoot, Pius Suter, Sundqvist, maybe a Miles Wood reclamation project?</div></div>
I honestly think that Drew O’Connor is better than Warren Foegele.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gretzkyghosts</b></div><div>Actually Jeff was a reclaimatino project a few years back and it would have cost the Sabres dearly to move his salary off of the team.
But Tage was never paid a significant salary and anyone who watched him play knew he would eventually find his game.
It would be difficult to find a GM who would give up 2 seconds and another young player for a UFA who has 14 in 29 games.
I assure you at the end of the 20-21 season no one would give up a third for Tage, much less two seconds and even less for Jeff. If Buffalo wanted Bertuzzi, they could just wait for the off season to sign him and keep Asplund and the two seconds.
So one can only presume "I think that guy is just a galaxy brain that we mere mortals can't comprehend" Tjm220 is a bit smarter than those who mock him.
