Agreed, VAN backed themselves into a corner wanting to move Lindholm so they have to take a hit. Also, I don't get that, Ullmark is better, cheaper, and younger.

If Rutherford wants to move Lindholm to get Guentzel, it's going to be at a discount from what he paid for him. 2nd, depth piece, prospect.

Heads will roll in Vancouver as a result of adding the overrated Guentzel, at that price too!!!
That is an awlful deal, on historic levels.
Guentzel is not that dude.</div></div>
You comment like Trump talks and it makes me cringe. But yes, faith in JR is at an all time low, especially considering you're no longer getting a 1st to move Lindholm

Overpay for Boston and we don't want a goalie prospect. Also DeBrusk AND Toffoli going to VAN kinda eliminates the need to trade for Guentzel which is the whole point of this trade.

My Take
The delusions VAN fans have. Carlo for Lindholm straight up is enough. DeBrusk>Mikheyev. Friedman barely makes an NHL roster. Why are the Bruins giving a 4th to retaining on DeBrusk? Bruins won't trade center depth to get another center, that defeats the purpose. So much wrong with this... and no way are you getting Guentzel without a 1st. Just wild.

Bruins would need to make another move to make cap.
To BOS: Elias Lindholm, 2nd rounder (VAN)
To VAN: Jake Guentzel, prospect (BOS)
To PIT: 1st (BOS), 1st (VAN), 3rd (BOS), Forbort

Deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>This is sorta why stats only get you so far when evaluating a player, you gotta watch the games to know the full picture.
Hyman's play style is what makes him such a perfect winger for McD, not to say Debrusk couldnt flurish but expecting the same bump is insanely wishful thinking.
I'm not sure what Debrusk goes for rn, but if Boston cant sign him and he wants to go to his home team we can wait for the offseason and not spend 2 valuable assets to get him.
I'm also not seeing the reason why Boston wants to move him, even if he leaves at the end of the year.</div></div>
This is funny, because I think DeBrusk has the kind of playstyle that McDavid would help too. Granted I haven't watched too much of Hyman in EDM (too late at night for me) but I think they're kind of similar finishers but DeBrusk has been bred into having a 2 way element to his game

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>cody_tugak</b></div><div>You aren't getting Holloway and our first that easy, if you add Merkulov then maybe, but if you want Holloway and our first, then swap Debrusk for Trent Fredrick and then add Merk, then we have a conversion</div></div>
Zack Hyman at 27 (Debrusk's current age) scored 21 goals. That was playing with Tavares. The same year DeBrusk scored 27 goals playing with David Krejci at age 22. Now I love Krejci but Tavares is a better C.
If we take the 3 years leading up to this season for DeBrusk and the 3 season prior to Hyman coming to the Oilers (wiping out the covid season for Hyman), Hyman averaged 0.28g/gm or 17g/season. DeBrusk averaged 0.325g/gp or 21.6g/season. If you compare that to the last 3 season where Hyman has been playing with McDavid, he's averaged 0.49g/gp, good for an extra 17 goals per season. So you're telling me you don't want DeBrusk, who is younger and arguably more talented than Hyman, knowing he would likely score about 0.57g/gp which means he'd average over 40 goals per season for the next 4 or 5 seasons?
Now I didn't do well in statistics in high school but you wouldn't give up a fringe NHLer and a late first for what would likely be the best pure winger McDavid has ever played with? Thats just dumb.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Frederic in not an upgrade on Foegele, and Merkulov isn't an upgrade on Holloway. What is the 1st for?</div></div>
Frederic and Foegele are nearly identical in terms of production and p/gp for their career (Foegele has 0.027 more ppg which translates to 2 points a season). Only Foegele hasn't gotten better over the last 4 years and Frederic has. 1st is for potential. Would love to check back in 5 years and see how they both progress.

Tough call. Holloway for Merkulov, Foegele and a 1st for Frederic is fair value but it seems like this is a trade that puts the Bruins at the disadvantage of having to resign both guys this offseason which eats into their big pool of cap without really improving the team. But maybe.

All out for Swayman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>No goalie is worth that much.
My view is this.
Mercer is expected to get 6 mill or so on an 8 year deal as a 1st time RFA (Team has more leverage)
Swayman is expected to get less than 7 mill on an 8 year RFA deal post arbitration (Player has more leverage)
Based on teams putting their money where their mouth is, the gap in value isn't that wide.
Would boston match an 8.4x5 offer sheet for example?
I'd offer 3 1sts for him or equivalent assets. Would be the highest price paid for a goalie of all time</div></div>
From a purely analytical standpoint, you make complete sense and I agree. Sad fact is, there's more to it in real world trades. GMs have to keep owners happy, keep fans happy, etc. Swayman is well liked, the goalie hug goes viral and keeps people in their seats and tuned in to TV, so for Sweeney to move him there needs to be some kind of game changer coming back. Neither Bahl, Holtz, or the 1st are a real world or hockey world gamechanger, but Mercer is. That plays a roll.
That being said, the Bruins can and will match an offer sheet like that as long as they think they can clear out Ullmark after the fact. I don't think Swayman would even accept an offer sheet like that knowing it'll be matches, and his buddy will get traded.
Your comment and mine represent the complete opposite ends of the ACGM spectrum.

Bruins don't want Vejmelka, there are plenty of backups who are better and cheaper, including ones in our system. If you want us to take him off your hands, it's gonna take another pick or prospect. Take him out and Bs accept

I think Skinner has scared away potential goalie trades with his play this year, the team doesn't need Swayman. Thought they may want him, but not this much.
