Wow. I take a day to, you know, go to work and I get called out? What's the average response total for these threads? 4? And this one has two pages? Hush your criticism and appreciate the dialouge thats happening.
To address the criticisms: 1. I do fully endorse the idea that this roster could be bottom 3 in the division, and as the most competitive division in hockey (arguably) that puts the Bs in play for a lottery pick next year. And without a doubt, this team is worse than last year and most other ones improve.
2. I think there is an incentive to move an additional piece in the trade with Ottowa. Probably a prospect, so maybe the rights to Studnicka or Brett Harrison? Replace an unsure center with a higher end prospect makes sense for the Bs and sweetens the deal for Ottawa.
3. I think there are at least 5 teams that want Reilly, that means one of them is gonna offer a second instead of a 3rd. He has term and deal.
4. Same with Debrusk (on the wing with McDavid, he's a 35-45 goal scorer, hot take)
5. Toronto is in a cap crunch and I don't think they prioritize forward depth over defense and goaltending, they know that's what they need to compete. (If they move Nylander, this is all a wash)

He's a top 6 winger on a team where the ENTIRE forward corps is still on their mom's health insurance (under 26 for my Canadiens). Devils will bring in some vets and Bratt will settle into the 3rd line unless he vastly improves. Shar, Zacha, Kuok, and arguably Johnsson are all better.
