All out for Swayman
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>No goalie is worth that much.
My view is this.
Mercer is expected to get 6 mill or so on an 8 year deal as a 1st time RFA (Team has more leverage)
Swayman is expected to get less than 7 mill on an 8 year RFA deal post arbitration (Player has more leverage)
Based on teams putting their money where their mouth is, the gap in value isn't that wide.
Would boston match an 8.4x5 offer sheet for example?
I'd offer 3 1sts for him or equivalent assets. Would be the highest price paid for a goalie of all time</div></div>
From a purely analytical standpoint, you make complete sense and I agree. Sad fact is, there's more to it in real world trades. GMs have to keep owners happy, keep fans happy, etc. Swayman is well liked, the goalie hug goes viral and keeps people in their seats and tuned in to TV, so for Sweeney to move him there needs to be some kind of game changer coming back. Neither Bahl, Holtz, or the 1st are a real world or hockey world gamechanger, but Mercer is. That plays a roll.
That being said, the Bruins can and will match an offer sheet like that as long as they think they can clear out Ullmark after the fact. I don't think Swayman would even accept an offer sheet like that knowing it'll be matches, and his buddy will get traded.
Your comment and mine represent the complete opposite ends of the ACGM spectrum.

Vegas Spending
Bruins don't want Vejmelka, there are plenty of backups who are better and cheaper, including ones in our system. If you want us to take him off your hands, it's gonna take another pick or prospect. Take him out and Bs accept

I think Skinner has scared away potential goalie trades with his play this year, the team doesn't need Swayman. Thought they may want him, but not this much.

Mangiapane and Debrusk are pretty similar players, though DeBrusk is arguably better in terms of consistency so far. This only works if they give up on resigning DeBrusk. But the Bs would do it, if some salary was retained to make the cap work.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DonS_weeny</b></div><div>What happens to Poitras in 2025?</div></div>
Depends. If he pans out, he's your other option at 2C. Geekie takes 3C and Coyle goes to the wing, or they switch back and forth. It would be a welcome miracle if both Poitras and Geekie turn into viable top 6 players, and I don't see the the Bruins passing on the chance to sign a guy like Draisatil or even Tavares or Nelson.

Somehow these are both overpays, so I guess the "Aggressive" title makes sense. We can't possibly give up Poitras without getting a surefire center back. Necas could be a #1 center, or a #2 RW on this team. Not worth giving Poitras AND Ullmark.

I know there's been a ton of press about getting a 1st for Dowd but I don't see it. Teams are throwing 1st rounders away in trades but Dowd does not measure up to the guys who earn those picks in trades.

Three Team Trade- DeBrusk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>Swap out Foegele for Ceci (dependent on if we can land Carrier) remove Mitchell and EDM can add a prospect going to SJS.
Something like:
EDM In: Debrusk 50% Out: 1st 3rd Ceci and C+/B- Prospect.
BOS In: Ferraro and 3rd Out: Debrusk and Brunet.
SJS In: 1st, Ceci, C-/B+ Prospect, Brunet Out: Ferraro, 50% retention on Debrusk.
Would be nice too if Debrusk says he would resign with EDM.</div></div>
I think you'd have a hard time marketing Ceci as a good add for SJS but I like the plan. A+ comment effort though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Celtics21</b></div><div>I’d rather have DeBrusk. I don’t see the need to trade him when we have the second best record in the league. Ferraro wouldn’t be my primary target on defense if we acquired a first round pick</div></div>
I think the Bs are scared of all the blown leads so they're going to prioritize defense. Ferraro is cheap, signed for term, can play PP and PK, and eats minutes and hits. Not a true #1 but would definitely help the team.
And I'm just worried that DeBrusk is going to walk. I know he's said he wants to be here long term but I doubt Sweeney will pay him market value, and other teams certainly will.

Fair point, though I don't think the Sharks have the cap space to eat any contracts of real value unless they're moving someone else on top of it. DeBrusk is cheap already so it worked out.

Foegle doesn't seem like a cap dump to me, the retention slot is for a year, and sub literally any forward prospect you want, I just picked a guy who isn't gonna crack your lineup probably ever.

Too much for Buch, who I would love on this team, but not to have literally 4 draft picks the next few years.
And Ullmark to Carolina would make sense for both teams but Skjei would be available this summer in FA if we really wanted him, and moving for that package doesn't make us that much better for the playoffs.

I like Eberle as a target, veteran with good 2 way play. But the issue on D is on the L side, not R. Larsson's great but I bet Boston is on his NTC, since we're all the way across the country. How about we keep the 1st and 3rd and just trade for Eberle?

Boston is going to have about 27 million in cap this offseason. We can sign Hanafin, Swayman, and Debrusk and still have 7-8 mil in cap and that's assuming we pay them on the highest end of what they're worth. If the Devils have 0 faith in any of their goalie options between Schmid, Vitek, and Daws, Ullmark makes sense because he can give 3-4 good goalie years. But otherwise it doesn't make sense to even discuss moving Ullmark to the Devils.
