Habs win lottery and off-season Blockbusters
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WhoCares_ItsAFantasyGame</b></div><div>Not whining at all... I'd actually move on that.. To get Crosby in MTL.. I think it would be a steal.. Personally I'd give Dvroak (50% retention), Barron, Harris, Beck, Norlinder, WIN 1st, and 2X 2nd rounders. If they want I'd even forget about the 2X 2nd rounders and provide WIN 1st AND CAL's 1st, but would remove either Harris or Barron form the equation. This would need to be with that Crosby signs for 3 years in MTL (around 7M$yr probably) . He'd be a great asset for the Habs and the money cash cow that he'd bring in.. OUch..
If Gretzky was able to forget the C on his jersey, I think Crosby can take an A instead and leave the C to Suzuki and teach him.
I'm saying Dubas does worse trades than that.. You have a way better view than him of what to get for Crosby. He'd trade in his 2023 Ferrari for a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, would still have to pay 30K$ at 6.6% interest for 8 years on it and think he won the deal..
I bleed for Pens fan.. I do like the Pens, they should have a better team in order to at least try one more time, but Dubas isn't a builder.. He'll destroy the team to get that first overall then 2 or 3 top 3 picks and still be unable to figure out why he can't win series. Just look at what he did in TO.. Really.. You have Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares, and Rielly.. still he never woke up to figure out he also needed defensive defensemen, a good goalie and some grit players. He got more point makers that don't block and don't carry the puck.. That's a huge hole on defense and that'll hurt your team. He's doing the same bringing in Karlsson.. Should've gotten a player with less points, but more +'s and grit around the net...
I hope the Sr Management open their eyes with the attitude Crosby showed in the locker room after that awful trade for Guentzel..</div></div>
I didn’t say you were the one whining, I totally agree with you (on that part).
Crosby would have the C. Suzuki would obviously give it up, and would gladly do so.
Pens will rebuild through the draft and bringing in young players. It will take time. So all the vets eventually get moved out. It’s the right thing to do for the club. Pens fans had a lot of great years. They’ll survive.

Nemec is the only reason this thought even came to mind. No one else on that roster is relevant to our squad.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jfkst1</b></div><div>Yes, but that is something out of their control and still ignores the millions being lost immediately if he is traded a season earlier. But that is a massive disconnect between fans doing this with no accountability and GMs actually working with ownership oversight.</div></div>
If Crosby wins a cup with the Habs, it only strengthens his long term post playing career value to the Pens. He overtakes Gretzky as the GOAT imho in that scenario.
They’re gonna let him makes this decision. No question about it.

Sure, so they wait a year and get nothing.
And piss off someone they want as an ambassador of the franchise for 40+ years after he retires.
Smart business model.
Not.
You need to think bigger picture.

32 teams in the NHL would take Caufield. Jersey top of the list given the connection with Hughes, which will only continue to develop with the national team in international best on best tourneys. The Devils would be lucky to have him, but we’re not moving him. I was just curious what the team would look like with the cap space.

If Crosby chose Montréal? Yeah, he would. Especially given his connection to Hughes. With retention higher return, no retention less return. You’re right, it’d be up to ownership.

Two firsts, a young quality D, quality young winger adding to your trend of adding Finnish players, and two experienced vets on expiring deals who could be flipped at half salary at the deadline for additional picks.
Or wait one year, try to entice him to sign as a UFA, and give up nothing. A big part of that return is for Letang with the salary retention. Pretty sure that if Crosby walks, the Pens will also respects wishes.
Crosby picks his destination. Don’t expect a huge return.

Obviously if we were rebuilding it'd be beneficial to get the absolute haul and the draft picks that Sid would bring (and for the receiving team youre selling out every single game at a 50% price increase) and if Sid wants to go then I know for a fact we would honor that. He's earned his say. If he wants to stay, stay. However, Sid has always said that it's important to him to only wear one jersey for his whole career. So idk. Outside of punditry and speculation I've never seen Sid say anything other than it's still important to him to retire a Penguin.</div></div>
I dunno about Colorado. I mean, better team, sure. But if he wins there, vs. if brings cup number 25 to Montreal?
Number 87 in the rafters? Oh my god…
He definitely has had this cross his mind.
And I fully agree. That move would instantly make Geoff Molson millions upon millions of dollars in extra ticket revenue, ad revenue, beer revenue…

Yep, nothing’s changed about what he’s decided to say publicly.
And his desire to do this, is in direct conflict with his desire to have meaningful seasons at the end of his career.
My guess is the latter wins out.
I can’t possibly state enough what the experience would be like for him if he came here.
He would literally transform the entire culture of our province.
We have the young core in place to support him.
It’s his childhood team.
It’s the perfect fit.

Cost is extremely high, he’s loved in ANA by the locker room, coaches, and fans alike, and fits a desperate need as a scoring winger that has positional flexibility. I’d guess there are 3 players in this draft that Beek would even consider moving him for and that’s it. Celebrini, Lev, and Lindstrom. Even then, for the latter two I doubt he’d do it straight up, if at all</div></div>
This summer, he’ll have two years left on his deal, plus one more RFA year. So, 3.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>nativewulf</b></div><div>I'd say in the offseason a trade for Saros would revolve around either a top end RD or C prospect and a 1st. I think they'd ask for Reinbacher or Barron</div></div>
If those are their main needs, then we’ve definitely got multiple pieces they could want. Nashville’s in a playoff fight, and I think they hold off on moving Saros until the draft. Askarov will be ready next year.

Hughes has been so patient, I really get the feeling one day we’re all gonna wake up and he just pulled the trigger on something so unbelievably massive, that it will get the Habs bandwagon revved up to a hysteria level pitch.
It would only have to be a one year commitment for Crosby and Guentzel if they wanted it to be that way. Or if they’d be in it for the long term, even better.
