<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>For the good of the Wild, I would like Parise and Koivu step up and waive their NMC. It would strengthen the Wild next year. With their contracts they wouldn't be selected by the Vegans. This way the Wild could protect 5 Men.</div></div>

2 things...
1. How does that make the stability of the team look? Having your captain from the better part of the last decade waive his NMC on a team that has made the postseason 5 straight years?
2. There is no doubt Vegas would take Koivu. It is an absolute no brainer, he would perhaps be the best player unprotected in the league. He had one of his best seasons in his career and was nominated for the Selke. He is taken 100%. Sure his contract is almost $7M per but only 1 more season. He is taken without hesitation and named captain of the Golden Knights.

People are worrying too much about this team. Look at the Preds. They quiltely made the playoffs, and are in the SCF. It's rare to have a team make the playoffs 5 consecutive seasons. Sure we haven't got the success of making the WCF with this core, but it's not time to blow it up. Asking the face of the franchise (Parise) and your captain who has been here his whole career to waive their NMC is a disaster waiting to happen. This team already has lockeroom issues between young and old, and if 2 vets are waiving their EARNED NMC for some young unproven players who have had injuries, horrible stretches and inconsistency throughout their careers, boy that is not looking good in that room or in the box office.

Sujet: Nylander
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MNBassman</b></div><div>That's too much for Nylander. I'd offer Spurgeon straight up for him.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ODOG67</b></div><div>Generous offer for Nylander, but Toronto loves this kid. We see a superstar in the making.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gavinray</b></div><div>You're overpaying with the Toronto trade. Niederreiter is so solid on both sides of the ice. That's two guys that almost scored 60 points and a 22-year-old top 4/5 defenceman.
I know you gotta give to get but you're basically getting less than half of the production back, the wild are a better team by keeping those 3 players than by getting Nylander.</div></div>

It is a steep price but here's how I look at it. Coyle had what, 3 goals in a 54 game stretch to close out the year? I don't remember exact numbers Russo said but it was something like that. Nino is a perennial 20-25 goal score and I think that is his ceiling with the minutes he plays here. Dumba has great offensive skills don't get me wrong, but down the stretch and in the playoffs I felt like our bottom 4 D was so inconsistent and a liablity including Dumba. I think Dumba offers more risk than reward and he's going to need paid next summer. So on paper it looks like a big loss for the Wild but when you think about it, Nylander has a higher ceiling than all 3 combined imo. Could easily be a 35 goal scorer next season, but like ODOG said, Toronto is high on him and isn't gonna let him go.
