Trying to use rumors and expansion draft.
Doesn't fit any of the Wild needs. Need a top 4 D, scoring. The 2018 1st rounder is intriguing because it could potentially be 1st overall, but to give up Nino just to shed Pominville seems like a mistake to me.

No thanks on Alzner for 6 years. I'd take him 4 or less.

trying to make 4-4-1 work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>For the good of the Wild, I would like Parise and Koivu step up and waive their NMC. It would strengthen the Wild next year. With their contracts they wouldn't be selected by the Vegans. This way the Wild could protect 5 Men.</div></div>
2 things...
1. How does that make the stability of the team look? Having your captain from the better part of the last decade waive his NMC on a team that has made the postseason 5 straight years?
2. There is no doubt Vegas would take Koivu. It is an absolute no brainer, he would perhaps be the best player unprotected in the league. He had one of his best seasons in his career and was nominated for the Selke. He is taken 100%. Sure his contract is almost $7M per but only 1 more season. He is taken without hesitation and named captain of the Golden Knights.
--
People are worrying too much about this team. Look at the Preds. They quiltely made the playoffs, and are in the SCF. It's rare to have a team make the playoffs 5 consecutive seasons. Sure we haven't got the success of making the WCF with this core, but it's not time to blow it up. Asking the face of the franchise (Parise) and your captain who has been here his whole career to waive their NMC is a disaster waiting to happen. This team already has lockeroom issues between young and old, and if 2 vets are waiving their EARNED NMC for some young unproven players who have had injuries, horrible stretches and inconsistency throughout their careers, boy that is not looking good in that room or in the box office.

There isn't no point in trading Pominville if you are retaining anymore than $1 million per year. Wild lose that trade big time.

MIN trade
I really like Dumba's upside and feel like he can turn into a stud. But last season he was such a liability. So basically here's how I look at the trade. Dumba for Reinhart, Zucker for Fasching and a 3rd round pick for Pominville. I like the Dumba and Pominville parts, but I don't really like Zucker for Fasching. If that's what it takes to take Pominville off the books and he agreed to waive the NMC, I am definitely accepting this deal if I'm the Wild.

Would you take this Wild fans?
Not a chance. Granlund is younger, cheaper and better than Stepan. 21st OA doesn't help us now or really anytime in next 2-4 years unless he is a diamond in the rough. Instead of 21st OA, Skjei gets the Wild to answer the phone. Also Granlund played the entire year on the wing. Don't expect him to go in to a 1st line C role.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gavinray</b></div><div>You're overpaying with the Toronto trade. Niederreiter is so solid on both sides of the ice. That's two guys that almost scored 60 points and a 22-year-old top 4/5 defenceman.
I know you gotta give to get but you're basically getting less than half of the production back, the wild are a better team by keeping those 3 players than by getting Nylander.</div></div>
It is a steep price but here's how I look at it. Coyle had what, 3 goals in a 54 game stretch to close out the year? I don't remember exact numbers Russo said but it was something like that. Nino is a perennial 20-25 goal score and I think that is his ceiling with the minutes he plays here. Dumba has great offensive skills don't get me wrong, but down the stretch and in the playoffs I felt like our bottom 4 D was so inconsistent and a liablity including Dumba. I think Dumba offers more risk than reward and he's going to need paid next summer. So on paper it looks like a big loss for the Wild but when you think about it, Nylander has a higher ceiling than all 3 combined imo. Could easily be a 35 goal scorer next season, but like ODOG said, Toronto is high on him and isn't gonna let him go.

I also think that's too much for Dumba.</div></div> Savard is an upgrade of Spurgeon imo. Jenner does more dirty work than Haula which is what we need. Good trade for both teams. 3OA is not too much for Dumba. Young R shot D men are a hot commodity in this league. If we trade him, he will be a steep price for teams to pay.

And I think Condon will seek a team where goaltending is an issue and he would get more games in. If we can get a solid backup for a cheap price like that I'm all for it, but also I am fairly confident that Stalock can be the guy. Condon has done great in OTT this season when Anderson was with his wife, I think Calgary will be after him if they can't land Fleury.

I love every trade other than Dumba to Dallas because I have a bad feeling he would come back to haunt us and would fit in great with their young, mobile D-core. As for Foligno, I don't really see him being an effective 4th liner for 2.5. Much rather have Schroeder/Kunin in there.

It's mainly to clear cap space to eventually sign Oshie and Alzner. Also prevents Dumba from being exposed. Fleury could be a stud soon.

Bergevin could become a hero by doing this
When will people understand you cannot simply sign RESTRICTED FREE AGENTS. RFAs rights belong to the team most recently under contract. In this case Pastrnak is a Bruin come July 1. He does not just hit open market like Shattenkirk, Oshie, Hanzal just to name a few of big ticket UFAs. The only way Pastrnak is a Canadien is if Boston and Montreal complete a trade sending Pastrnak's rights to Montreal in which Montreal would then have to sign him to a contract OR Montreal signs an offer sheet for Pastrnak from the Bruins which if NOT matched by Boston, Montreal obtains Pastrnak for the contract that was offer sheeted. If an offer sheet is not matched, it results in the player's previous team, in this case the Bruins recieveing draft pick compensation from the player's new team in this case Montreal. With the 7 year, $7 million AAV contract you have Pastrnak signed for, that would result in Montreal sending Boston their 2017 1st round pick, 2017 2nd round pick and 2017 3rd round pick.

Granlund for #5oa (Van)
It would be incredibly foolish to trade Granlund for 5th pick for 3 reasons.
1. The player drafted at 5th overall will likely not turn out better than Granlund.
2. The player drafted 5th overall is AT LEAST 1 full season away from being NHL ready.
3. The Wild would hate to see Granlund bros become next Sedins for a 5th overall pick.
Easy no for the Wild.

Have to disagree. Granlund peaked. It's so unlikely he comes back next year and scores 69 points again. He has been invisible in the playoffs the last 2 years. Now it the perfect time to trade him.

I've seen enough people say Brodin is going to Vegas!!!??!? Why would you protect Scandella, Dumba, or Folin over Brodin!? Honestly at this point barring a trade there is a 0.000000001% chance Brodin goes to Vegas.
Wild brass is very high on Brodin, and if they were planning on exposing him or even trading him this summer there is no chance he would be playing in the IIHF World Championships which it was announced today he is. They wouldn't risk injury if they were planning on moving on from him, as it lowers his value.
Dumba, Scandella, and Folin all had a very speratic 2nd half and did not perform to their capabilities. Brodin is the 3rd best defenseman on the team.
If the Wild go the 7F-3D-1G protection route, the 3D will be Suter (NMC), Spurgeon, and Brodin. Mark my words.

You guys seriously took the time to comment but not read the description. The first sentence says that this is a joke. And yes Palhal, McDavid will be an Oiler forever. Generational players don't just leave as UFAs and there is no way EDM will even let him get to UFA status. He will be given a max deal under the CBA years before he even hits the UFA market. If you guys even took the time to read this team explanation you would see it said JOKE in all capital letters and "would never happen due to cap situations".

Agreed. These are two good players in return but if they move Kucherov, I'd have to believe they would want picks and prospects in return. (Cheap players). At least that way, they could resign all their other pending free agents like Drouin, Palat, Johnson easier. Adding Brodin and Coyle only means they are guaranteed to lose one of Palat or Johnson. Which would defeat the purpose of not keeping Kucherov then.</i></div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DirtyDangles</b></div><div><i>I don't think this makes Tampa any better.</i></div></div>
Agreed with both of you. Now looking at the Tampa roster there is no way this deal could go down. Just fun to fantasize is all.
