You can't restructure or opt out of any contract in the National Hockey League.

I know the NHL CBA doesn't allow it but it would be nice if it was possible. Hawks are in some financial trouble with seabrook Kane and toews being over paid.

How on earth can you say that Hammer is not a top 4 defended? Do you even watch the Chicago Blackhawks?

I'm not sure this improves the D any. Trading one of the 3 Dmen that Q trusts? And is actually the youngest of those 3?
Campbell is kind of done. Please let him retire and be an assistant to the team in some form. I'd rather they give Kempny, Gustafson, Forsling, Svedberg, etc. more ice time rather than D men over 34 years old, no matter how cheap the contract is.

Campbell is still a better defenseman than all of those players except maybe Forsling. Everyone hates on Campbell but he ranked among the best in the NHL in some collaborative advanced stats. While advanced stats aren't perfect and can often have anomalies, he shows up in many many different charts along with some of the NHLs best. Here are some that I recently saw.

Kempny is questionable in my opinion. While I definitely think the Hawks should resign him and play him more next season his stats from this past season were padded. He received some of the most sheltered play of any defenseman in the league that played more than 40 games. I'd like to see him play an even role, unsheltered, and see how he does.
