I think if we are trading with Minnesota, it might be more realistic to target Brodin because as we already heard from the Calgary contingent, Valimaki is nearly untouchable. Maybe there is a deal to be made around Brodin and Strome that allows us to keep Buch and also save some money for a guy like Haula (who is probably going to get a million more than that)

If there is a CBO it is being used on Ladd to move Salary out, Isles cannot take any salary back with a flat cap.</div></div>
Didn’t really think that far about it - more so just revisited the trade that was rumored to have been nearly completed at the trade deadline. I agree it doesn’t seem to fit either team - the islanders probably could use some more goal scoring but Parise costs too much. Minny would probably buyout Ladd if the option exists.

Fast probably another million, possibly as much as the Tanev deal in Pittsburgh.
Hoffman probably gets more term, not more than $7m is my guess.

For the D, they can just play Roy and Walker on the right side. And probably two of Bjornfot/Clague/Anderson will make the team. Also appears that MacDermid is underrated and could play a regular role.</div></div>
Nah I’ve been throwing my CBO into that slot rather than “trading” them to another team.
Full disclosure, I don’t know anything about the Kings, I probably blew this one pretty bad.

Foudy is 20 now so I don’t think he’s eligible for an ELC slide next season. So the 9 game limit doesn’t apply. Seems questionable if he’s ready for the NHL. Seems like they have plenty of forwards on the big team to be able to give him a year in the minors.

I would expect a RH top 4 defenseman coming back</div></div>
20th overall and Neal Pionk got Trouba (without a contract) last year, so I’d say this isn’t far off. Appleton is probably considered in a similar light now to what Pionk was last summer. The first is around the same draft position. I guess Anaheim could ask for more for taking Perrault’s contract. Rakell under his current contract is worth more than Trouba without a contract last summer..so perhaps WPG has to do a bit better but it’s not way off.

I looked at buying out or trading Matheson, but his term is a killer. He had a bad year and now I have to assume most organizations would be very hesitant to take on a guy for the next 6 years, even with a million retained, its a roster spot and $3+m against the cap. Buying him out is a lot of money to ask a franchise that doesn’t actually make money to piss away. I didn’t think about Stralman, did he have a bad season? I felt like only two years left, unless he’s been quite bad, was worth powering through - or maybe finding a trade partner if he would waive.

Yeah that’s great you know what the calendar says, wise guy...trouba’s NTC doesn’t kick in until July 1, or whenever the league determines the 20-21 season starts, so the Rangers have until that date to do whatever they please with him. In a traditional season this would mean any time from when the playoffs end, until noon on July 1, including the draft...which is a time period that could be included in this scenario.

Would Toronto be buying out Bob? I know they’re a very valuable and profitable organization, but that’s a ton of money to just write off just for a good prospect and a first round pick. The GM would love it but the ownership has gotta have reservations about writing a $60m check.

Apparently Sanderson is shooting up boards like Seider did last year, so one of those forwards could slide to 9-11 if someone finds themselves desperate for a defenseman or goalie (Askarov)

The premise here is that the Rangers pick 7th, if they give the 7 teams that don’t make the 24 team playoff the first 7 picks in the draft. No, Raymond won’t slide out of the top 8 in all likelihood. If the Rangers do select 7th (again, via this probably hypothetical 24 team playoff format) and Rossi slides to that position, we should snatch him and run away like the fox in the henhouse

See his previous post. There is talk of a 24 team playoff with the 1-6 from each division being involved. If this happens, only 7 teams miss the playoffs, the Rangers being the highest point total among them, thus the 7th lottery odds and 7th pick.
Honestly, if they go forward with this June draft and lottery based on current standings, it screws the Rangers among the worst - we miss the playoffs and have our slight lottery odds taken away. At least moving into a 7 team lottery is some compensation for a system that would allow 8 teams with lower point totals than us to make the playoffs ahead of us.

I agree i think Fabbri gets slightly more perhaps around the $2.5m on a 1 or 2 yr deal. I'm kind of torn around Markstrom he is treading on the wrong side of 30 especially for a long term deal. Probably wouldn't mind Talbot on a 1-2 yr deal.</div></div>
I had Talbot going to Boston but that’s out now that Halak gave them a discount. Had halak going to Vancouver, so Talbot could work here as a 1a/b with Bernier. I don’t think I ever found a spot for Greiss...with I think there might be more goalies than openings, unless there’s a retirement somewhere...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bhavikp27</b></div><div>Think Fabbri gets more $. Veleno is probably not ready. Except the contract for Bertuzzi, agreed with the rest.</div></div>
I went back and forth with Fabbri. He really had about half a season of “good” nhl hockey on his ELC resume. So it was either Detroit takes the risk and pays him with term, or he takes less and gets term but could outplay the contract and regret it. So I tossed the one year “show me” bridge deal to him, assuming if he keeps up his output, they will sign him to a 4-6 year contract next summer to be a piece of their core. I tend to be cheap with these guys without much of a resume coming off their ELC’s so I’m probably a bit light, like you said.
I should have looked for another trade for a C for them, agree Veleno might be getting thrown to the wolves here.

I thought about that, but I decided they’re going to need someone, they’re going to need to reach the cap floor and they might feel like they have to give their young players a chance by putting a decent goalie behind them to try to get the rebuild going. I don’t think they have much in their system at the position, but could be wrong about that...

Not too sure those vancouver or Colorado trades get very far. Demko is their guy for the future. The Rangers, to the fans demise, aren’t that interested in unloading Staal, either.
I also doubt Byfield slides past the 2nd spot, and Stutzle is a wing, I think.

That’s giving up way too much on the NYR end just to be rid of Strome’s looming extension. None of those Winnipeg pieces have proven to even be above average nhl players yet.

Hintz probably deserves more, but neither have arbitration rights and they each have about one season of nhl contribution. Unless they get long term, they’re in line for modest bridge deals.

I’m thinking he’s either getting something similar to Aho on shorter term. If they want to buy up some UFA years it usually costs more
