Buy out stralman or matheson. Matheson could probably be traded. His potential is there he juat needs a change of scenery. So Strålman it is. I think dadonov signs for less to stay in fla ewpeiclslt with the no state tax. And I’d be willing to take a chance on honka can’t see him signing for that much.

If dadonov signs for let’s say 5.5 and cutting Strålman that will put them at almost where they want to be. I still think they won’t cut that much like they’re saying. But they won’t spend to the max.

I looked at buying out or trading Matheson, but his term is a killer. He had a bad year and now I have to assume most organizations would be very hesitant to take on a guy for the next 6 years, even with a million retained, its a roster spot and $3+m against the cap. Buying him out is a lot of money to ask a franchise that doesn’t actually make money to piss away. I didn’t think about Stralman, did he have a bad season? I felt like only two years left, unless he’s been quite bad, was worth powering through - or maybe finding a trade partner if he would waive.

Not really. They have a lot of fans. But competing with 3 other major sports that are more successful franchises is difficult down here. If they’re winning they fill the stands. That’s how it works with sofla sports.

I think someone who needs defense and has a player who could use a change in scenery as well could do the trade. Once he body slammed petterson two seasons ago it like changed his style of play and became a turnover machine. And Strålman I don’t know if it was a bad year or change of coaching but he couldn’t stay healthy. And was not a good player for the panthers. At 1-2 mil a year he’d be fine but not 5.5. But cutting that 5.5 million would help with shaving off their budget if that’s what the owners want but I think it might be a smokescreen to light a fire under this team because they are way better than theyre playing. At least on paper.

Which is fine. Cutting 10 million won’t help them get fans. They’ll literally be killing their fan base and attendance for years if they do a little retool/rebuild.

Sofla sports are weird. You can go to the marlins game for like $2 but no one goes cause they suck. They’re attendance is worse than the panthers they close the upper deck half the rest of seats just to keep people in certain areas. The dolphins will always have fans and the heat are coming back around now that they’re getting better. But no one goes to games when they suck just have to put a winning team out on the ice. And when we had jagr it helped boost some attendance.

If Florida possibly looks to move Matheson, I wouldn't mind him in Detroit we will need future LD help. Would be curious what the cost would be.
