<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>So lets say the Leafs go out and get a guy like Jensen at the TDL. Where does that leave Liljegren? Lyubushkin was deliberately acquired with double retention, so I think he's definitely going to be a frequently dressed player for the Leafs. McCabe has been utilized at RD a lot recently, and then the new guy (in this case Jensen) would presumably slot in next to Mo. So whats the deal with Lili? Do we see another Sandin-like trade? Does he get dealt to a team like Minnesota (who are reportedly willing to trade a guy like Dewar)?
I really dont want to trade him, but it seems far too likely at this point. If we were planning on using him, there wouldn't be such a huge emphasis on getting another defenseman. I think his time here is coming to an end. Sending him to Minnesota for Dewar and a 2nd would be fine</div></div>
I'd fire Tre on the spot if he suggested making a fairly lateral swap on D to go from Lily to Jensen, making the big add on D Boosh and simultaneously getting WAY older.

I 100% agree, I just have no idea what the Leafs are trying to do here with Liljegren. Slight typo in my post as well, I meant something like Dewar and a 1st (thus the comparison to Sandin). Keefe's constant belittling of guys like Robertson and Liljegren is extremely infuriating. Give the guys an actual spot and quit screwing around with their deployment every game. Not sure why Keefe doesn't just pair Liljegren with Rielly, to me that is the obvious solution to our problems.

Also with Kaliyev reportedly being shopped, I would have major interest in bringing him in as well. Physical scorer that can fill Robertson's niche. Thats a guy that is due to break out any time soon, and Roy can be easily extended by Toronto. Id be super happy with a deal like that</div></div>
To add to this, Roy + Kaliyev and then a Duclair trade would set this roster up very nicely. Roy would be 50% retained by a third team to make the cap work, and the trade packages would largely consist of picks + non-roster players (like Abruzzese, Timmins, maybe but hopefully not Steeves, etc.) with the exception of Robertson
Bertuzzi - Matthews - Nylander
Duclair - Tavares - Marner
Knies - Domi - Kaliyev
Holmberg - Kampf - Jarnkrok
Rielly - Roy
McCabe - Liljegren
Benoit - Brodie
Woll
Samsonov
That is a roster with ample secondary scoring and a pretty stout defensive group. Duclair and Marner would be a dangerous duo

Was it just me, but the by the positioning of the camera (probably closer to the ice), the ice surface looked wider than it does in other televised games. Really looked they were playing on European ice.</div></div>
The cameras in that arena are closer to ice level than all the other arenas in the league. Of course it's also a minor league arena so that has everything to do with it.
Was listening to the Overdrive show and they were talking about if/when Matthews is headed to the Hall of Fame, footage from that game would probably be part of his highlight package and how it would be sad seeing that a memorable moment for Matthews happened in a minor league arena with around 4K fans only.
During the second intermission ofthe game, Justin Bourne joked about this game being a private ceremony for Matthews. LoL
This is so embarrassing for the NHL.

I've been a Liljegren supporter since he's been drafted but I'm just not seeing him take that step. For me, it would depend on how extension talks have gone...but he's not someone that has earned $3m+ to me...maybe worth the risk if that's a long term deal...but I've just been seeing a lot of mental errors recently.
From calgary's end...they obviously get a younger guy that can step right into the lineup with control vs a typical draft pick.
TIme to cut bait or hold the line?</div></div>
Absolutely not. With or without Tanev, this team isn't going anywhere this year. No way I'm trading Lily for a rental. Even if we assume Tanev comes with an extension, the guy is 34 with an extensive injury history. Do we really wanna lock that up? It's just not in the cards for me.

At worst, Liljegren will be a bottom 4 defender for years to come. At best, Tanev will be a top pairing guy like 1 - 2 more years..
There's no chance I'd trade Liljegren for Tanev straight up, there is way too much upside with Liljegren in addition to his already solid play and far too much risk with Tanev

No. Tanev is one bad fall from his career being over, Lily can be a B4D for us for years potentially

You can't just point to 5-10 games in the regular season where he actually looked decent and come to the conclusion Domi is a good C. The larger sample size suggests he isn't really the answer at C.

that
Bertuzzi and Domi were good to bad for Keefe's bad system. Guaranteed under a new HC those two would probs be thriving rn.
Only ones that are meh be Reaves who should have been 1.1m to be buriable and Klingberg who came in hurt but hey LTIR space to go buy this TDL
2.5/5 better then nothing
In general Keefe basically is hurting the two good guys we added this offseason. Many here besides a certain 2 someone's have all said the same Domi is fine along with Bertuzzi only issue is Keefe aint the right guy for either of them as Babcock wasnt the right guy for Barrie
Hopefully Keefe is gone this summer but sadly so will two guys who are gonna rebound with their new teams leaving us going wish we kept them. Should have fired Keefe the moment Berube became available as its benefited other teams just ask EDM lul</div></div>
