Its been 8 years. We have given him plenty of time to figure it out. This isnt a young kid anymore

If he starts playing well, absolutely.
It is literally the only thing I want.
If not, i dont care if we win - we need to talk about moving him

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NorthernLeafsFan05</b></div><div>Blaming Marner for that Pastrnak goal is crazy, that lands on Benoits shoulders.
Marner is a great player whose given a short leash. He's either forced to be Matthews' personal assistant or carry the load of Tavares and Knies. Under another coaches system, Marner would pot 40 goals.
If we were to trade him (which would be a huge mistake), I actually don't hate Random2152 's idea. I'd love to get Doan out of Arizona / Utah, big fan of that kid. I think Crouse would be an unmitigated disaster under Keefe though, he seems to struggle with players like that. Unless you are a low maintenance speedy 2 way winger, you won't find success under Keefe. He completely fails to utilize those wildcard players to their strengths. The only teams that make sense for Marner IMO are New Jersey and Utah. Again though, I'd be crushed to see him dealt</div></div>

Marner was giving worse production than REAVES last night...
And Pasta was Marner's man, the Leafs were playing Man on Man defence... Can't let Boston's most dangerous guy in the slot w nobody around him

He's not figured it out for the past 8 years... What makes you think he'll figure it out now while playing top 6...
Give him bottom 6 comp, like PLD and Lindholm and nurse his confidence when Willy comes back...

The problem with Robertson on the top 2 lines is he isn't a puck retriever. Matthews needs a puck retriever (Hyman, Bunting and now Bertuzzi) and a playmaker (Nylander, Marner or Domi). Robertson is a shooter as well and is too small to go get pucks in the corner. It will effectively nullify their ability to cycle the puck and make them an almost exclusively a rush line. Not optimal at all.

Like if Robertson had 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points in 56 games if we give him more mins and he plays all 82 games I could see a 20-25 goal 50 point guy easily
Can apply the same to McMann (when healthy) and other guys one day.</div></div>

Yep, that we can agree on. Problem is, that doesn't happen every game.
I'm gonna go one step further and say Matthews has to build on this effort tonight especially when you consider Marner really hasn't done much in this series so far.
As for the goaltending...well, playing like this will really help both goalies and will need both IMO.

You then go trade the other guy for a more pick based haul to set up for later and with the remaining cap space keep Domi, Bertuzzi, etc</div></div>

Send him to Utah along with Kampf for local boys Crouse, McBain, and Doan. With Mitch's contract up I doubt we could get more

Yeah i spent the last 2 years humiliating my league so they all wanted me dead. They nearly got it too. I barely snuck in as the 4 seed, needing to win 2 tie breakers just to get that.
6th place got 13 wins, 1st got 15. Just stupid close.
All that just to destroy the 1 seed and now the 3 seed in the finals lmao

Hockey is a very random sport, so anything can happen, but boy do I have no faith in this team for the playoffs.
Special teams are ass, D-core is brutal, defensive support from forwards is questionable, goaltending looking shaky

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>U cant really blame Keefe when he's not in charge of the PP
Boucher is and in Feb PP was 50% but then March it just went south and while it has been a bit better for April its not substantial
And Rielly really aint the issue for the PP as through the years its been top 10 with him on unit 1, if anything this is just the setup and system needing adjusting once teams figure it out. As u can see the backpass to either Marner or Matthews eats 30 seconds off the clock and then they struggle to set up. Teams expect it and just wait. Whoever has it should just carry it not wait and drop pass
Article is a good read https://mapleleafshotstove.com/2024/04/01/why-did-the-maple-leafs-power-play-fall-off-a-cliff-in-march-a-look-at-the-game-tape/</div></div>
Keefe is the head coach. He takes the heat for everything because ultimately it falls on him to make the best decisions possible.
Do you think if Keefe disagreed on Rielly's use on the powerplay that he'd still be there? Absolutely not.
He has the last call on coaching decisions regarding of who is running the powerplay or penalty kill etc.
Who is the one answering the tough questions after games? It's not any of the assistants. There's a reason why.

For the remaining games I'd start Woll vs Detroit and Florida and Sammy vs Tampa.
As of right now, for me Sammy is the game 1 starter but of course the leash is going to be short.
None of these goalies have shown they can steal games or series so...my expectations for goaltending is to keep the team in the game, nothing more, nothing less.

Agree completely. But remember Bettman is an employee of the owners. I don't know why the the majority of owners haven't fired or just not renewed Bettman's contract for decades.
When Bettman became NHL commish, the NBA and the NHL had the same revenues. I don't care what others say, under Bettman the NHL had fallen way behind in fan support (revenue streams) in North America compared to other pro sports .
