things the wild cannot/shouldn't do. Trade their best center maybe ever? for a lesser center and some decent pieces. even if those two picks were 1st rounders i wouldn't trade ekker.

TRADE SELL-RETOOL
not sure why Minnesota would do this. they one cannot afford him this season and probably cant afford him in the offseason and they are giving up THREE first round picks for "BRETT PESCE"

Fleury plans to keep playing
Marc-Andre Fleury, who mopped up with six saves after replacing Filip Gustavsson to start the third, made it clear after the game he “for sure” plans to play out the final year of his contract. He has one year left at $3.5 million and doesn’t plan to retire. “I’ve still got one more year and it might be it,” Fleury said. “It is too bad. We have a good bunch of guys, great chemistry and a good team. We had good depth. I really believed we were going to go deeper here in the playoffs. It’s a little bit stunning.”
The only reason the 38-year-old’s future was a question is that he started only one game in the playoffs and told The Athletic last summer that he signed for two years because he wouldn’t want to move his family again after this season — but that he would be willing to play ball with the Wild and retire if he showed this season he couldn’t play up to his standards.
Fleury won 24 games and is seven from tying Patrick Roy for the second-most regular-season wins (551) in NHL history.
Asked how he dealt with starting just once in the playoffs as opposed to five games last postseason, Fleury said, referring to a Game 2, 7-3 loss, “It was hard because I wasn’t happy with the game I played. Maybe it wasn’t the best as a team, but I didn’t help either. I wasn’t good. Other than that, only one guy can play and Gus has been good and consistent all season long. That’s fine. That’s fine with me. I tried to encourage the guys, I tried to encourage Gus, support him.”

Thoughts on this trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CapFriendlysFinest</b></div><div>I expect Fluery to retire and I was suggesting that Murray is there for the start of the season behind Gus. Wall would come up in case of an injury which is likely and would then take over the back up role. I worry that Wall is not ready for a full time back up job (maybe he is, he is a highly sought after prospect) but then I also worry about a full time Gus. I think Murray is just the insurance for both.</div></div>
MAF has said publicly he isn't retiring and he is staying in MN. and Murray at 5m is 100% a negative value to the wild (as a backup) and probably most teams.

The dumbest rental idea on planet earth
if that is for one year of AM that is a overpayment beyond the maple leafs wildest dreams. that's like 4 - 1st round picks and 2 2nds and 2 nhl roster players?

If Minny rebuild
JEE is probably the least likely player on the wild to get traded. his contract, his position and his age. all help the wild long term. i think they would trade Kirill before JEE (not saying they would trade KK)

Massive deal
i don't see how the wild could do this trade. they do need a dumba replacement but at 5m they could probably just resign dumba. if they did this trade they now need to go find someone to fill in as their top line center next season with less cap space. and why are the wild adding the pick to balance out the value?

no more core 4
i'm not saying the value is bad because Marner is the better player right now but the wild can't give up 2 million extra for the next two years for the same about of goals. plus the wild don't know boldys ceiling yet and under contract for the next 7 years is key.

the wild wouldn't do this trade even if you included all of the draft picks for the next 3 seasons.

i love that montreal is adding to this trade. have a d- prospect that the wild don't trust, a d-journeyman the wild don't trust and a top 6 center on a great contract for a #3 overall pick yall just traded for. oh and give the wild a 3rd rounder too LOL

Off Season Moves and Next Years Roster
i thought the flyers were sending 2-1sts and a 2nd with Hart for Rossi and Faber and i thought the wild would never make that trade.
then i realized which way the picks were going and realized this is a total joke and is a troll post.

Retool
even at 50% salary i don't see Backlund fitting in the wild cap or being an upgrade over current center options. he's 34 years old and hasn't gotten 20 goals for 5 years.
i would personally just keep rolling Hartman/Rossi, Ek, Freddie as our top 3 center options.
and two seconds in this draft seems really steep cost for 1 year of Mikael Backlund.

i appreciate the fact that you actually understand the wild's cap situation next two years but yeah that's too much to give up right now for the wild.

if the wild do this trade and i have no idea why they would want to trade MAF for next year. there is nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo way they retain on the deal. we gave up a conditional first to get him (ended up being a 2nd) but wild's cap hell says no retaining for 2 years.

woof moose for clutter? you know the wild already got rid of him once.... older... less productive and not enough cap savings to be anywhere close.

Hindered by buyouts
those re-signed players cap hits hurt my brain. Gus Bus 1 year at 4.1?! I'm a Sam Steel fan but I don't think there is a NHL team that gives him a 3 year deal let alone one for over 2 million a year.
i think resigning Mojo is way above Sunny

i think Dumba gets quite a bit more than 3x3 in free agency. i think if was looking for that big of a pay cut he would stay in MN.

as a wild fan this trade is so far off. I wouldn't even take this even if Pettersson was retained at 50%. Just a bad fit and we need hartman for the next year hopefully the following year to get thru cap hell.

Simple offseason
MoJo is coming off two - one year deals 1.5 and a 1.1 Million dollar contract. yes he's played great with boldy but i don't think we double his salary on a cap strapped team. My guess is GMBG get's him signed for similar to Ryan Hartman's deal. 2-3 years at around 1.4m cap hit.

Wild Playoff Lines
I thought JEEK wasn't projected to be back until the 2nd round at best. but Sam Steel or Marco Rossi probably take his spot until he's healthy.
