Laughton-Pageau Swap
Much needed cap relief and a 3C upgrade for NYI, but it comes at the cost of a mid-1st round pick. Laughton alone can go for a late 1st rounder. And Puckpedia cap relief calculator shows that 3.5 million cap relief over two years is also worth a late first rounder. Puckpedia draft pick value calculator shows two late first rounders is slightly more value than ~14th pick. So essentially,
- Laughton = late first round pick
- $3.5x2 cap relief = late first round pick
- 2 late first round picks > ~14th pick (slightly)
- The value of Pageau is covered by the difference in value between two late 1sts and pick ~14 (a mid-to-late round pick may need to be added by PHI to make up
Pageau's value, I am not entirely sure how to value him given age, M-NTC, etc.)

I get why people immediately react this way to Zegras to philly proposals, but I think its overdone a bit. Zegras and Torts spoke after the whole Michigan fiasco and they both said they have a lot of respect for the other. I think if Torts hated Zegras there wouldn't have been any rumors that they looked into trading for him, but they did at least look at it. I think PHI just doesn't want to pay up for him (even tho they should).

Yeah I agree with you. They are likely giving TK 8x9 which is unfortunate.

Not enough for TK imo given how they are doing with him leading the forwards corps. Also, I think Philly could retain the money themselves and get the extra picks.

Why is that? Because of Torts? They have spoken before and have a good relationship.

DAL-PHL
As a flyers fan I would love this but definitely way too much. I would personally do Walker, Seeler, and mid-round pick for just Stankoven, but I am not sure if DAL needs that many dmen.

Walker to Jets
As a Flyers fan, if Walker can't get a first at TDL, I think this offer is pretty fair. WPG having MTLs 2nd would help them win out against other buyers. I personally don't have much interest in Stanley but I could see that as someone Jones and Briere would want to take a flyer on. But we currently have a logjam at D so I only think we would take back Stanley if one of Seeler or Staal are also traded.

Dmen and Cap Relief for Picks
Not sure of Myers value but at $3m with his size I think he would be wanted; not sure if NYR would be the one but they have the cap space and a potential need. Vancouver improves dmen depth and frees up cap to go after other targets at TDL. Philly gets picks for rebuild.

If Flyers are Sellers
As a Flyers fan I would accept this and then look to flip Domi. We would have to retain on Walker which is fine. I have a feeling Briere would overvalue Laughton a bit though.

Danny Briere Fleece Tactics
1) I don't believe Pinto is eligible for an offer sheet. Even if he was, Ottawa is very likely matching that.
2) I think that contract for Klingberg would be a big mistake for a rebuilding team. Leafs fans are happy to get cap relief with him on LTIR.
3) Petterson will not be traded unless he forces his way out, which seems unlikely given how the team is doing this year. Even if he was traded its not nearly enough given every NHL team with some cap space would be bidding. Any offer for him needs to start with greater than or equal to the value of 4 1st round picks, since thats what Vancouver would get as offer sheet compensation, which I don't think your offer has. But it would likely take more than that.
4) I honestly think there is positive value for Risto, especially with the cap limit going up next year. When he was traded to Philly there were several teams in the bidding war and he has improve since then. At 50% retention he absolutely has positive value.

Slight overpay I think. Maybe swap Farabee for Voracek? I dont know if that would work cap-wise.

Provy/Laine swap won't happen. Reports are that Fletcher isn't even willing to give up Sanheim/Myers at the moment, which is why the trade hasn't happened. Can't imagine he will give up Provorov.

Laine and Fox
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BSpadaro83</b></div><div>Your missing in that you seem to think the bonus limit is a hard line, where if they are over the ~6m in bonuses that make up 7.5% of the cap, they have to shed players that have bonuses to get compliant. Thats not it. They just lose dollars in real cap space for those additional bonus dollars. So the Rangers show 23m in cap space with CF right now but are really closer to 18m when you factor in Laffy. They arent just gonna give away Fox for some space lol. Easier ways to clear money.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Rino911</b></div><div>exactly what I’m thinkin but I didn’t feel like writing a paragraph to him lol</div></div>

Laine and Fox
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>buchiegang</b></div><div>There are better ways then to part with Fox. Yes true the more players with bonuses that are in the lineup the lower the working cap for this year however. All those players are on ELCs and are under a million dollars. So the more Forster floats filled with ELCs the less cap has to be spent on roster players. And vice versa, the less ELC players on the roster, the more cap available to gov two FAs. Rangers will likely decide on keeping one of ADA or Strome (seems like ADA form initial reports) and move Smith if they have to. Not only are they not moving Fox for that purpose, they are not trading him for that...</div></div>
OK that makes more sense. Admittedly, I think I saw the tweet from Frank and jumped the gun on Fox.

I don't know if that will be enough to get you compliant. In fairness, I havent played around with NYR armchair yet. But I most definetely can't see you getting cirelli or danault. Did you see what Seravalli posted today? It seems like a huge issue. Or am I missing something?

If we are trading Sanheim for Laine, I think I would be willing to form a package around Farabee for Fox. But the problem is that adds to NYR's bonus issue. I guess Fox just wouldn't work in a trade, but I seriously have no idea how NYR is gonna do the gymnastics to get cap compliant with the bonus issue on top of the buyout cap hits.

This is what I feared. But who are the Rangers going to trade in order to stay under the bonus cushion limit? The only other options are Kakko and Sheshterkin. Or are they going to shed cap another way (eg trade Smith)?

Niskanens Replacement
Obviously getting Pietrangelo would be great, but now we would have to leave a good dman unprotected in the Seattle draft. I think if we sign a stellar dman like Pietrangelo or Krug we should be making a trade that involves one of our top 3 dmen. So if we signed him I would want to go for Laine by giving up Sanheim or Myers.
Also, idk if you have him as a placeholder but Vorobyov will be in Russia next year.

I pray to god we don't resign Thompson. At this point with Nisky reitiring, I think it would be best to keep Ghost. I don't think Frieds is ready to be an 82 game 6D, plus if we do sign Petro our D will be deep enough to the point where we could give Ghost a competent D partner, unlike last year. If he bounces back he could have some better value at TDL this year.

I think I would do this as a Flyers fan, not sure Wild would. Dumba is fantastic. However, I don't know if I would pursue him due to expansion draft complications. We already have three dmen we need to protect in Provorov, Sanheim, Myers.
