Marner to Seattle

Thanks!! I Knew about Florida, Alaska, Tennessee and Texas. Didn't know the others. I am Canadian so I don't need to know them all. But being a hockey nerd, this is helpful info. So thank you!
But I am surprised Washington state is on that list!

You sure Seattle has no state tax? that would surprise me considering they are a perpetual democrat run state. Now you are making me google american tax laws... haha

Marner
we only have 1 right shot RD in this scenario. I love the Chychrun add (if he extended). But I would use him on LD. We need a RD more. or 2 RD.
I would accept that Seattle package very quickly. But I doubt Seattle trades Wright.

We aren’t giving up anywhere near that for a Marner rental</div></div>
Let's be honest, if Marner went to Anaheim, he wouldn't be a rental. Trading for him without a contract negotiated ahead of time makes zero sense.
So it would be assumed that Marner gets extended her.

Leafs and Bruins Swap
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Boston would almost certainly find a first-round draft pick more appealing than one season of John Tavares, and there will be no shortage of teams offering the Bruins a first for Ullmark.</div></div>
I would be surprised if he gets a 1st. It's rare for a goalie to get a 1st. I assume a 2nd.
I know Kuemper got the 1st a few years ago, but I think Ullmark will be worth less. Time will tell!

I like all the players individually but we need 2 more right shots and we need more scoring and puck moving from our D.

If Nylander hadn't been resigned, and was not resigned this summer. It would have given Leafs 11.5m in cap to spend elsewhere the summer.</div></div>
I personally didn't believe we were cup contenders this year though. I thought we wasted our time with Lyubuskin and Edmundson. We needed a true top pair RD and we didn't go for it.
So I would have preferred the assets and try again next year.

Knowing that Tavares, Marner and Matthews wouldn't/can't be traded, I was kinda surprised that the Leafs extended Nylander mid season. Not that really disagree with the contract "that" much though I still think the Leafs paid a premium price. I understand everyone's concern about having too many top end contracts with forwards. But Leafs biggest problem in the playoffs is that top end guys haven't produced enough.</div></div>
I agree - I actually disliked the Nylander contract though. 10.25m was my top end. I would have traded him if he wanted more.

Tell me, would you take my suggestion. Trade Marner for nothing, but get 12m in cap to so two good UFA Dman could be signed to mid term contracts. To me, that sounds a lot better than just one year of Marner, and having him leave as UFA.</div></div>
I wouldn't trade him for nothing, simply on principal.
I love Marner but the past 2 off seasons I really thought we should trade him. People always said our problem was 4 forwards making 40m. I disagreed. I thought it was 3 forwards making over 33m and Mitch was the clear answer. But unfortunately trading Mitch this year, still leaves us with 3 forwards making over 35m haha. So Mitch and Tavares would be my moves. BUT they both have full NMCs. We will see what happens.

McTavish is untouchable. We aren't getting him for Marner.
Keep in mind Marner has a full no move clause, so he is in full control of where he goes. That lowers his value a lot. AND we get 8m in cap space here also.
You say we could get a top 6f or top 4 d... but we get 8m cap space to sign a guy like that in FA. So we gets 3 x picks and a hard working defensive bottom pair d.

I'm just wondering if team are willing to give up those picks also. Would Washington be better to have TVR, 8m in cap and keep their picks, instead of one Marner.
You might think I'm crazy when I suggest...would the Leafs be better to trade Marner for nothing....so they could have 12m cap this year, spend on two Dmen with five years of term. Is that better than one year of Marner?</div></div>
Let's be honest. A team will eat all of Marners cap and pay for him as well. So I don't think the 11m for free scenario makes sense. I would do Tavares and his 11m for free. But a team will pay a 1st +++ for Marner.

Another Go Around
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jeep71589</b></div><div>Just curious what make Robertson worth an early 2nd? He really hasn't done too much on the ice, plus he is a smaller wing that is injury prone.
In my opinion he is probably worth a 3rd. I just dont see the 2nd.... I havent watched him much so i am just curious.</div></div>
He is still only 22 years old. He has put up over a point per game in the AHL for a few years now and scores alot. At the NHl level he was just under .5 points per game this year, while only playing 11 minutes a game. He is also ultra competitive. He never stops working.
I personally really don't want to trade him. If we do trade him I would want a late 1st. Early 2nd is worst case scenario. But I hope we keep him.
For example, he is only a few months older than Holtz but had better NHL and similar AHL numbers. What would you suggest Holtz is worth?

Marner to Nashville
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I don't think Nashville is sweet sport for Marner as you strives to a career year in this contract year. Marner has NO motivation to move unless it with an extension. Any other good team with might be attractive to Marner don't have the cap for him.
You seem to left out one important ingredient in the trade. Saros and 1st to the Leafs PLUS 6 mill in cap. for Marner. That's too. difficult for Nashville to swallow. Their top goalie, a good UFA signing and first for one year of Marner.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>Good question. I see Saros as being much more impactful in the lineup. I agree with the fact that GENERALLY a proven winger goes for more than a proven goalie, but I think Saros is one of like 3 goalies in the league that probably doesn't apply to (Shesterkin and Helly are the other two, Vasy would have been in that group 3 years ago).
Add onto the facts that 1) Marner controls where he goes/if he goes, and Saros does not and 2) Marner costs 6mil more so it's also doing Toronto a favor in their cap space problem.
I honestly think a 1-for-1 doesn't do it and Nashville is the one saying no. There'd have to be something enticing them.</div></div>
Fair enough - We also have to consider Askarov potentially being Nashvilles long term plan in net. So part of moving on from Saros, is to create room for Askarov.
I am curious to see what the Leafs will do.

Marner to Nashville
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>It's funny you think Nashville adds here.
Toronto fans are going to be extremely disappointed with Marner's return IF he decides "Sure, I'm okay going to play with someone other than the best goal-scorer in the league. I'm totally 100% confident my stats won't drop dramatically with, let me look at the Nashville roster, 33 year old Ryan O'Reilly, in a year I want to be at peak performance for my lifetime contract."
Marner laughs you out of the building before Nashville even has a chance to.</div></div>
If Marner were to waive to Nashville, do you think 1 for 1 is fair? I personally think the super star winger is worth more than the star goalie but that's just me. What do you see as being fair here?
