Nope, they're correct. Nine states — Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming — do not levy a state income tax.

Yeah, Washington is definitely the outlier, but even then, I'm not really surprised that a far-west state with a lot of public land and frontier-like space is on this list. Outside Seattle/Tacoma, Washington state is basically Idaho, which is extremely right-wing. New Hampshire might be New England but they're very leave-me-alone libertarian-right wing there, so I'm not surprised to see them on the list. And neither Wyoming nor North Dakota has enough people for income tax to matter anyway.

As a life long Washington resident, I can express the same amount of surprise as you. But yeah, no state income tax is a great thing at times, terrible at others.

I still don't think Seattle trades for Marner but using the state sales tax can be a definite incentive for UFA's.
