FYI the last time he was a 60 point guy was 2018-2019. Long time ago. He was in his 20s</div></div>
ok but the contract is great at full retention! it's like with Karlsson. yeah with no retention you're not getting good value, but with max retention you're definitely getting solid value.
lol I like how instead of saying 29 you say "in his 20s." on pace for 60 last year if he played the 5 games he missed and on pace for 60 this year too.

probably a 3rd pair defenseman but is playing top pair right now with EK65. good size at 6'6 220. just a reliable defensive-defenseman that can provide a bit of physicality.

huh? Getting a 60 point 2nd line center for free that's only making 4 million? 4 million for him won't even be bad at the end of his contract.

I mean for only a few 100k in retention I think I would do it, I like the value. The only reason an NHL team might not want to is since you can only retain on three and we’re already retaining Burns. So only one more retention for this year and next, but I would say yes.

yeah but I love Knies. Would replace Meier perfectly as they have a similar style of play. Also if you look at Knies his stats are very similar to Tommy Bordeleau. Both but up around a ppg in the Big-10 at 20 years old.

don't understand this for SJ
Merkley and Nieto are each probably worth a mid-round pick and it seems we got nothing
does Kaut have any value? 23 and still stuck in the AHL. and MacDonald is a 7th defenseman at best.

seems about right. The only one above Meier I'm familiar with is DeBrincat and I think those guys are pretty close. And I've seen reports that Meier will get less than DeBrincat. We'll see though, I think Meier is underrated but I would bet that every fanbase thinks their players are underrated.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Use comps...
Fiala = Faber, 1st = Mukhamadullin, 1st
Debrincat = 1st, 2nd, 3rd = 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Reinhart = Levi, 1st = Brennan, 1st
Rakell = Simon, Aston-Reese, Clang, 2nd = Smith, McLeod, Brennan, 2024
Buchnevich = Blais, 2nd = Zetterlund, 2nd
Stone = Brannstrom, Lindberg, 2nd = Casey, Johnsson, 2nd
Duchene = Abramov, Davidsson, 1st = Stillman, Salminen, 2024 1st
Tatar = 1st, 2nd, 3rd = 1st, 2nd, 3rd
ROR = Grigorenko, Zadorov, Compher, 2nd = Holtz, Okhotiuk, Salminen, 2nd
Havlat = Preissing, Hennessy, Barinka, 2nd = Walsh, Thompson, Okhotiuk, 2nd
...they will give you the likely range of possible returns.
Sharangovich, Holtz, Mukhamadullin, 1st would be well outside that range and closer to the packages Jack Eichel and Rick Nash got</div></div>
to be honest I'm not familiar with the trades from Stone onward as I hadn't really been watching hockey then, but I think Meier has more value than all the other guys.

If This Is Close To Being True
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Tintin</b></div><div>Mate, Blackwood + Holtz + 2023 1st + Mukhammadulin + Sharangovich would be far higher than what Jack frickin Eichel got.
In terms of pure value it'd be close to what the Panthers had to give for Tkachuk.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>So, leaving the Reimer/Blackwood swap out since its a wash. For Meier, you'd ask for....
Alexander Holtz
Shakir Mukhamadullin
Yegor Sharangovich
2023 1st round pick
That is roughly twice the anticipated return.</div></div>
I'd still give Reimer and you could keep Blackwood, so...
Timo Meier
James Reimer
2023 NJ 1st
Yegor Sharangovich
Shakir Mukhammadulin
Alexander Holtz
I've seen many posts, including posts from a New Jersey perspective, with Meier for Sharangovich, Holtz, and the 1st. This makes sense as it's a 1st, a solid prospect, and a young roster player, which is the outline for many trades. Mukhammadulin for Reimer probably favors SJ a bit, so I'd be willing to add something small, like a 3rd or an ok prospect.
