Adding a forward, especially a winger, is likely @ the bottom of the Kraken's to-do list this off-season, and certainly not at the cost of a 2nd rounder for a one-dimensional player like Olofsson. Not when that capital can be better spent elsewhere.

Is it just because he's a Washington kid that every second Edmonton ACGM has Seattle acquiring Yams? Seattle is deep at forward, especially on the wing, which would likely limit his opportunities to succeed. Also, when you consider he failed to succeed (ie. produce offense) last season when given the chance to play with 2 of the world's best offensive players, it doesn't do much to make the Kraken want to add him and move someone else down their depth chart or off the team entirely. (?)
Also . . . helping a division rival free up cap space so they can improve their roster is none too appealing, either!

I think Seattle would prefer to trade up with their combination of 2nd rounders, maybe even couple one or 2 with 20thOA to move higher in the first round, if possible. (?) If not, I'd hope they keep their 2nd rounders, especially the highest one which you've targeted here. They have 10 picks in the draft already; stick with quality over even more quantity, IMO.

Again, as cool as it would be to bring in the hometown kid, Seattle's depth at forward and especially on the wing would likely prohibit him from getting opportunities to succeed. Additionally, considering he failed to succeed (produce offense) when given opportunities with 2 of the world's best offensive players last season, it doesn't do much to inspire the Kraken to add him and move someone else down the depth chart or off the team entirely. Fixing up the expansion mistake
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>Problem is that expansion year, they would have needed to get a defender since Holl was the likely target, and I also think they would have been above the cap with Kerfoot and McCann.</div></div>
Yeah, retaining Hyman was probably a little far-fetched, but they definitely could have kept McCann over signing Ritchie or Kase, IMO.
In additional hindsight---being 20/20 that it is---I think it's clear now that Holl is very replaceable!
But c'est la vie, I can't complain. . . . Worked out great for Seattle!

He's one of the worst GM's in the league. He has no plan, doesn't know how to win, doesn't know what a winning team looks like and just plug holes to keep his job.
Instead of taking a step or 2 back and make a winning team, he just focuses on making the playoffs to satiate ownership and fans.
He's brutal and most fans want him gone.</div></div>
Didn't mean to open that can of worms. . . . Simply pointing out that adding Nylander would give the Jets one more player with minimal team control.

Seattle would be crazy to move off Wright to acquire EK. I don't much like the idea of the Kraken adding him at any cost, mind you.

Nylander was BORN in Calgary, but grew up and played in the states and then Sweden. But I agree . . . who knows. (?)
But let's be real, at this point if Chevy traded for ANY player with a year left on their contract, he'd be booed out of town!

Like he said!
There's a couple of steps further worth taking . . . What if Toronto had gone the typical expansion route (7F - 3D - 1G) and protected both Kerfoot and McCann (and probably Engvall as the 7th?), exposing Holl and Dermott as likely the most attractive targets. THEN, instead of letting Hyman walk, Toronto extends him at 5.5 million (rather than Edmonton) instead of signing any number of players like Ritchie, Kase, Kampf or Mrazek . . . I haven't crunched the cap numbers, or considered extensions for other players or what goalie they would have been able to afford to tandem with Campbell . . . but man, what a forward group! (thinking, of course, that they'd still bring in Bunting that off-season).

EK65
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>poeticentropy</b></div><div>yep, seems like the most logical place for EK to go. He wouldn't be replacing an offensive D on SEA's lineup like he would with other destinations and you'd think he would waive for SEA for both compete and also it being a great place to live, albeit a bit more cold and rainy. I wonder though if Francis is going to give up prospects and picks because they're 100% not operating like Vegas's model</div></div>
I don't think (hope) that Francis would break the bank on adding EK. To acquire him would definitely be a bold move, but it could also be the one move that both diminishes their organizational depth and puts them in cap hell in coming seasons.

Always enjoy your builds . . . the thought and detail you put into them. Nicely done here, again, and look forward to the next one. Hanifin would be a solid add, though at the expense of Oleksiak would be disappointing.
Now . . . Curious what Flames fans feel about the deal. (?) I know they want to add on RW, but is there any hesitancy to trade within the division? and for a RW who has struggled with consistency his entire career and is somewhat one-dimensional at times. (?)

Offseason moves
There might be a deal involving UPL, especially if Driedger is moved and Daccord signs elsewhere, but Kraken likely have zero interest in Olofsson and a trade won't involve a 1st Rounder.

Even if there was room for another winger or a need for more offense, that is all Olofsson provides and Seattle would likely still have no interest in trading assets for him.

Calgary Trade
Like the trades. Soilid return for CGY in a tough situation. Question I have is would you make that trade if Hanifin weren't a local boy? Seems their defense is pretty solid as is and while I know there's cap savings, as well---depending on what Frederic might re-sign for, perhaps as much as 4 million---but a lot of that would likely be eaten up in a year when/if a Hanifin extension kicks in. Just my thoughts.
Also, if I'm Boston, I'd see if there's a little more (a pick or another prospect) I could squeeze out of LA for Ullmark. They would be getting the reigning Vezina winner (likely) and everyone knows Arvidsson is the piece LA is desperate to move for cap relief, etc.

If konecny too high value
While I don't agree with Windjammer on the assessment that Yamamoto has negative value, the reality is he is at best a late round pick (6th or 7th rounder) from a team with cap space willing to take a flyer on him needing a fresh start. And the issue with that is it would likely mean EDM waiting later into the summer for a team to see what better ways there are to spend 3.2 million next season, which I doubt Edmonton wants to do. And while Yamamoto may be a player Winnipeg would be willing to take a chance on given the potential turnover they are undergoing this next year, the reality is that the trade proposed depletes them from a position they are currently weakest at. Easy no for the Jets.
As a Kraken fan, also---choosing to comment numerous times I see Olofsson traded to Seattle---I can't imagine a world where Jost and Olofsson would cost a 1st round pick to acquire . . . except maybe one that exists in Buffalo or by a team REAL desperate for offense! (ie. Olofsson, 'bout all he can be counted on for)

Seattle passes. Likely looking for a placeholder on LD bottom pair---one who's more defensive-minded and can help with PK---until Evans proves ready . . . . not Smith who can't seem to break his way in as a permanent on the big club.

Will Chevy wake up
Seattle is far too deep on the wing to add Niederreiter and has zero interest in Schmidt. Furthermore, by involving Geekie, it would almost look like Francis wants a do-over from the expansion draft when he could have had Niederreiter (or Bean) for nothing, but went with the young centre instead.
The other deals are head-scratchers. Chevy's not just waking up, he's going nuts, too! And that return for Dubois would be amazing, but never happening, I'm sure.

3.) CHI wouldn't have interest in Ceci and certainly wouldn't pay a 2nd for him. If you want to keep a Ceci trade within the domain of realism that exists on CF, then Ceci to ANA for a 4th typically goes over well with Ducks fans. Some DET fans are open to Ceci, but others are vehemently opposed.
4.) In what world does it make sense to pay to trade Desharnais away? He's on a below league minimum contract; even if you think he's a burden and a waste of a roster spot, just send him to the AHL.</div></div>

Seattle likely zero interest in Hayes, retention or not, with this current, effective forward group that has to already consider how (and when) to fit in Shane Wright.
