why would the leafs not sign that offer sheet??? 6.5 for 5 years is a good deal for the Leafs. Doesn't make any sense for Colorado.

I'd be interested in being an AGM for a team. Leafs, Flames, Lightning, Stars, Canucks, Coyotes, Panthers. No real preference just looking to get in on this, looks like fun.

Zadorov or Zaitsev? And for how much.
What do you think an offer for Zaitsev might look like? Another big contract to take on but if you want a russian RHD... not as physical as a guy like Zadorov obviously, but doesn't mind throwing his weight around.

Our First Potential Cup Run
RFA signings look pretty good but like you said it all depends how each player develops. I can see Patrick taking a huge step this year and Konecny who's already a hell of a player, looks like he's just gonna keep getting better. Really interested to see what kind of a year Philippe Myers has if he gets a shot on the Flyers blue line, another player with a lot of potential but as a Defenseman he might take a little more time to develop.

Exactly, a team like Edmonton comes to mind, McDavid can put up 100 points with me and you on his wings. Leivo is a skilled offensive player and can really shoot the puck. If I'm Chiarelli why not take a chance on basically a no risk acquisition at $925,000. Cant be much worse than Lucic or Cagguila.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>littlejerryseinfeld</b></div><div>Leivo is a 2011 draft pick who still can't crack it. Bracco has more to do to prove he is anything more than a depth AHL player at this point.

Not arguing this trade really, I just think Leivo hasn't played because of the depth in Toronto and it seemed like either Babs or Lou or both really didn't like this guy. I could see Dubas giving him his chance this year and i'm sure a lot of other teams would take a chance on him. Bracco certainly has alot of strides to make but this year but he's in good hands with Sheldon Keefe and the Marlies organisation which has seemed to be very productive in showing players what it takes to play at the next level, especially with young players like Bracco.
I'm not saying they have a ton of trade value i just think you have to consider what another team might think of a player or where they can see them fitting into their own lineup.

Guys, Leivo and your AHL guys are not trade assets.</div></div>
How are they not? you don't think Leivo could play in the NHL somewhere if given the right opportunity? As for Bracco, i think he can take a really big step with the Marlies this year with more ice time, I wouldn't be surprised to see him up with the Leafs in 2-3 years.

Payback is a B*tch!
I don't get why Isles fans are so bitter about JT leaving. What would he be staying for other than Barzal? his whole career he never had the line mates to play with, their D core is abysmal and they never got him a goalie who could stop a puck. Garth Snow is the reason for most of this and hes most likely the reason Tavares is gone. Lou can work some magic but i dont think it helped that he only had a month or whatever he had to convince JT to come back to the tire fire Garth left him with. If Islanders fans want someone to be pissed at it's Garth Snow not John Tavares, if anything be thankful you got Lou from the Leafs who almost immediately did what everyone on the Island wanted to do which was get rid of Garth Snow. Adding the Stanley Cup winning coach cant hurt either, at least they know that the future of the Islanders is in good hands.
Also why would Nylander want to go from a young cup contending team to a team that is going to be rebuilding the next 3-4 years

I'd like to think if anyone offered 5 years 7 million via offer sheet to Nylander the Leafs definately match it. If they offered that to Marner they would match it without blinking. 7 million for Marner is a steal for the Leafs.

Johnny T is a LEAF pt.2
I like the Pesce addition i think he would be a great fit for the Leafs, not sure if you'll get Skinner in that deal too. Also I agree Matthews probably gets 11 at least, Marner will definately be asking for more i would say starting somewhere around 8.5. I dont think the Leafs could afford Skinner even if they did trade for him. If they want to keep Matthews, Marner, Nylander I dont think there will be room for Skinner. Plus your going to need to sign another 2 players to get to 23 and somehow stay under the cap. Gonna be some interesting signings and roster movement for Dubas in the next couple of years.

wild leafs trade - leafs side
When you look at realistic options for the Leafs top pair RHD via trade its probably Faulk, Dumba, Parayko, Manson etc. (in no particular order) IMO Nylander will more than likely be in the deal if they manage to get one of those players. I could see some type of deal like this happening with probably an asset or two for each sides added to the mix.

Pigeont4thLiner: If he was really a show down pairing RHD would the Hawks be trading him?</div></div>
I dont understand what your asking, i think he's a solid shut down RHD that is definately an upgrade over Carrick and he would be a great fit to play with Gardiner or Rielly. Obviously Chicago and Toronto are heading into different directions that's another reason why i think a change of scenery for both players could work here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NickC1988</b></div><div>Murphy would be a good player for Toronto, it's hard to judge the value of a stay at home D man because it's not about the points as much as the defensive positioning they provide.</div></div>
Agreed, that's why it would be hard to trade him for the flashy forward like Kapanen. Completely different players with different jobs. Kapanen can skate like the wind, kill penalties, plays all 200 feet of the ice, things like this will also increase a players value, like you said its not all about points and though Kapanen has the potential to produce offensively, he does alot of other things well and could probably play on any line for the Hawks. Murphy would fill the obvious role of the right handed stay at home D to play with Rielly or Gardiner for this year at least.

I think the Leafs would say yes to this trade every day of the week. Murphy would be a great fit as the shut down top pairing RD that the leafs have been looking for, for so long. I think Chicago would be able to get more out of Toronto for him than Connor Brown, maybe a 2nd rounder and another pick could make the trade work. Or Kapanen for Murphy straight up? I love Kapanen as a player but if it means adding a guy like Murphy the Leafs might not be able to pass that up.

I agree, I think Murphy would fit perfectly in Toronto, same age group like you said but i'm wondering what Chicago would want back from the Leafs. Not really sure what Chicago's big needs are but i think Kapanen could be close in value to a player like Connor Murphy.

Yah its not looking good for Chicago but i think with the likes of Matthews, Tavares, Marner, Marleau even Kapanen, (who could turn into an elite player in the league) these players will surround Grundstrom, Johnsson etc. and i think that they will have a very good opportunity to succeed in at least a top 9 role.

19/20 Leafs Cup Run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Codyymd16</b></div><div>i didnt say theyd have trouble cracking the lineup, im just saying that having a veteren 4th line is big for a cup run. Beagle, Cullen, Lewis or Richards for the kings (i forget who played the 4th line) but all these team had veteran depth to win the cup. i dont remember a team that won the cup with rookies on the 4th line, correct me if im wrong please. im sure the leafs could find a way to bring someone in</div></div>
I agree completely, I think the Leafs may have some guys like Hyman or Ferland who could drop down and play that role which might mean guys like Grundstrom or Johnsson get bumped up to play with Tavares/Matthews/Kadri which might work and it might not. I think Babcock will be trying alot of different combinations to try and find chemistry between players. If they dont do that, l think they could definately add another veteran 4th liner at a decent price maybe someone like Joel Ward, Lance Bouma, Brad Richardson (just a few guys i'd like to see them sign) again as long as they can find a way to stay under the cap which could be difficult for them in the 2019/20 season.

19/20 Leafs Cup Run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Trickster</b></div><div>Your relying on too many young players to NHL ready in 1 year.
You might get 1 or 2 but 4 is not happening.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Codyymd16</b></div><div>my only problem with this team is that you got a lot of players that havent played a full NHL season, which is a big question mark, look at WSH 4th line, Beagle, DSP and Stephenson (i think). a strong veteran pair with a rookie, they were lights out</div></div>
IMO Johnsson, Grundstrom and Rosen will most likely make the team this year and will stay up with the big club for most of next year. Then by 19/20 they will all have a little more experience, as for Liljegren i don't see him having any trouble making the team in 19/20 after another full year with the Marlies.
About the 4th line i think the Leafs could add a veteran or two to give Max Jones and Bracco some more time to season in the minors. A guy like Josh Jooris who they just signed, or someone similar who can add experience and depth but also at a realistic price as the Leafs are gonna struggle to stay under the cap in 19/20. Which is one of the reasons they might need to play these guys while they're on their ELC's.
