Dubas swings for the fences
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SammyT_51</b></div><div>That Anaheim trade is very good. I dont think Nylander gets traded but I like that you give Anaheim back some defender they can use. And dont take Larsson back, we have ton of LHDs in the organization. Get a forward from them. Otherwise very good trade.</div></div>
I'm not sure they trade him either but if they get Tavares i dont think they can afford Matthews, Marner and Nylander. I think Nylander will be the first of those 3 to be moved if they had to. I agree they have a ton of LHD's but Gardiner and Hainsey will be off the books, but even then their left side would be something like Rielly, Dermott, Rosen/Borgman. So if you leave Larsson out of that trade who do you think they could get back for a forward? I would think they'd be looking at a young player/ prospect someone like Nick Ritchie, Max Jones, Sam Steel, Troy Terry, Maxime Comtois. All very good prospects for the Ducks but if Larsson isn't a part of the deal you'd have to think the Leafs would be after one of those young players.

Leafs Will Ny @ C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>goodfella</b></div><div>You want to trade the guy who was on the ice for five even strength goals against in a game 7 for a solid 3-4 defenseman AND a good prospect? C'mon.</div></div>
Lol I've figured out there is absolutely no fair trade for Jake Gardiner on this site. Either your an idiot for trading him for picks or prospects when people think you could get way more for him, or you get bashed for trying to get him for too much because he was a -5 in game 7. I'm honestly interested in what anyone thinks would be a good trade for both sides involving Jake Gardiner.

Leafs 19/20 free agency signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jshherman</b></div><div>What, no Tavares?</div></div>
lol trying to be somewhat realistic, I just think he is too loyal to the Islanders plus adding Lou and Trotz along with a group of good/very good young players/prospects around him. Barzal, Beauvillier, drafting Wahlstrom, Dobson along with a few really good players who seem to be right in their prime like Eberle, Josh Bailey, Anders Lee, Brock Nelson. Lou will have to work his magic and get them a goalie and solidify their D core but i think he can convince JT that he will be able to do that.

Tavares to Tampa
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jshherman</b></div><div>I like your thinking, but 2 of the 3 teams listed are in the running for JT, I know this is relatively interchangeable with other teams being used i.e. ARI, VGK.</div></div>
Yah thats true, but i would say Tampa has the best group of prospects/cusp players and young talent already in the lineup like Point, Cirelli even Kucherov who just turned 25. Plus i think Tampa has a slightly better D core than ARI, VGK and more stability and control in net, with a 23 year old Vasilevsky at 3.5 million for the next 2 years.

Sign JT, Parayko Trade (take 2)
Would St. Louis do a Parayko for Kadri + a pick/prospect type deal if they need the center help that bad? Would fill both teams needs perfectly, not sure about the Blues depth at RD if they lose Parayko. I think Kadri + Carrick for Parayko could work, TOR gets their RD to play with Rielly, STL gets a 1/2 C who can play against anyone and may have one of the most team friendly contracts in the league and Carrick probably gets a better chance of finding a full time role on the STL blue line.

Leafs 2018-2019 D
I highly doubt the leafs get Carlson at that price especially after WAS just got rid of a bunch of cap space to re-sign him. Also why is Marner on the 3rd line and why would Grabner or Cullen be playing over Kapanen?

Gardiner for Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>With Slavin, Fleury, Carrick, Bean there they don’t need a LD. Sure Gardiner would be better than 2 of them but it isn’t a pressing need and with him in the package it means the rest of the package is minimal. Faulk for Gardiner is pretty close to even swap. They are lookng for a forward or a pick and mid level prospect. Been plenty of rumors of Hawks for pick and Duclair as part of a bigger total package. Your 1st next year plus some prospect. 2nd and Sparks might get their attention too.</div></div>
Gardiner definately wouldn't be a long term option in Carolina so it may have to be something like you said, i like the idea of Gardiner, Sparks and a 2nd for Faulk, i think that would be a closer deal.

Gardiner for Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>While Marleau could probably handle it on a short-term basis, he is not the ideal permanent solution at 3C. I would think the Canes say no to the offer, as has been suggested already by a poster or two. I cannot really see the Leafs having use for Orpik. He'd be taking up a spot that will hopefully go to a much younger, quicker defenseman in Borgmann or Rosen. Also, I am just venting here, but I was not happy at all with how the Leafs drafted this weekend.</div></div>
Yah i considered that as well, he could rotate in as the LW on the second line and i envision Schaller filling in at 3C between Hyman and Ferland/Grundstrom which seems like a solid shutdown line to me.
I think Orpik could be a great fit on just about any team after watching him in the playoffs over the years with Pittsburgh and Washington. Yes hes quite a bit older but he's a beast in the gym and i could see him being a guy who could play into his 40s. What he lacks in foot speed he can make up for with good positioning, having a good stick and being able to play physical which is something this Leafs D core hasn't done. He would be able to come in and out of the line up with Rosen and Borgman if needed but more seasoning with the Marlies shouldn't hurt them either.

Gardiner for Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Canes pass, easy no. They will move Faulk for FW or picks.</div></div>
Was wondering what else i could throw in to make it more of an even trade. Johnnsson could turn out to be a really good player, Bracco might be a year or two away from cracking the Leafs lineup and in my mind Faulk is pretty much a right handed Jake Gardiner and the Canes could use him at LD. With a plethora of RD in Carolina after the trade with Calgary i think Gardiner would fit in perfectly there. Plus this year Jake Bean will likely need a year in Charlotte so that gives room for Bean to grow and Gardiner to play his final year of his contract on a good looking team. I can see him getting lots of PP time possibly with Hamilton on the other side, with Svechnikov, Aho, Teravainen that could be a lethal powerplay. Never know though im sure the Canes will have plenty of offers for Justin Faulk. Maybe adding a pick or two or Grundstrom instead of Johnnsson and i think the Canes would consider it.

Gardiner for Faulk
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Britishbulldog</b></div><div>I like a lot of what you suggest here....especially getting Ferland.</div></div>
One of my favourite players to watch, guy is a wrecking ball out there and has an underrated skill set. Very good shot, good hands and obviously loves to throw the body, perfect playoff player as we seen a few years ago when he was running over everyone in the series against Vancouver . More of a modern day tough guy as he can contribute at both ends of the ice, but he can also beat the piss out of most guys in the league if challenged. Carolina got a gem in Ferland.

Picking 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
i like the idea, not sure if o’reilly gets you the 3rd pick but montreal has done much worse. Would love to see Brady Tkachuk in this group, maybe he slips to 5 and a trade for Arizonas first pick might be easier to swap with O’reilly +

Rielly fooooorrrr
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Ultimate_Pielord</b></div><div>Gardiner's the Leafs best dman and a solid #1D, probably top 15 in the league. Him plus anything for Myers is a major overpay.</div></div>
I just can't see that at all as far as Gardiner. He is unbelievably talented with the puck and one of the best skaters and passers in the league. But his inability to make a simple play when necessary has cost him a lot more times than he has provided offensively. I can see him going somewhere else with a solid defensive core where he can slip in as a solid 2D and have a lot of success with the right core around him.
