Colin Miller is the wrong type of RD. TOR would be better suited attempting to acquire a more defensive RD.

why even post a roster of just twenty one player and no cap. if miller is a 4,5m player, the leafs would have to offer more

I, for one, have liked Miller and think he is a viable option for a lot of teams. Good job with your 120 second roster!

Connor Murphy wouldn't be a bad fit in Toronto, he fits the age group well and is pretty affordable. Probably won't cost a lot via trade.

I liked Greg Pateryn for just this reason. I had him on a lot of my pre-FA rosters. At his eventual price, I'm particularly sad that neither Las Vegas nor the Islanders picked him up.

true but some realism would be nice. might as well say mcdavid is going to quit hockey unless he is traded to Leafs. Leafs acquire him for 7th rounder and oilers retain 50%

He had a career year, but many wonder if he can sustain it and what it would cost to sign him.

You missed the LTIR for Horton. (Drag him to LTIR - Rookie instead and you get the full deduction.) But even so, you have the 2019 problem: you will need at least $16M to re-sign Auston Matthews (an additional $9M), Mitch Marner (and additional $4M), and Kasperi Kapanen (an additional $3M); even with Gardiner and Hainsey coming off the books, you'll only have $6M in cap room and you're still 2 forwards short on the roster.

Seems like its time to trade some of the high priced help. Maybe Willy?

I agree, I think Murphy would fit perfectly in Toronto, same age group like you said but i'm wondering what Chicago would want back from the Leafs. Not really sure what Chicago's big needs are but i think Kapanen could be close in value to a player like Connor Murphy.

Both Gardiner and Reilly are offensive minded gems. Murphy would be a steady partner to rely on.

leafs do have cap space for alll their RFAs in 2019. hainsey and gardiner would have to go and be replaced be expensive players such as liljegren and borgman. if the young guys are up to the task, that's great, but if not, one of those forwards has to be traded for dman help. even murphy at 3.8m may be too expensive without a juggling at forward.
