Drury should be fired if he trades a 1st for Dowd, I dont care if it is his market value.

NYR officially not in on Kane
Maybe he has finally learned his lesson that younger and faster is better than giving up assets and picks for old and slow.

One More Middle Sixer
I very much agree. One of the three of Tatar, Suter, or Heinen needs to happen here. I feel like Heinen is the most likely and would fit our needs well. Could play 2RW with Panarin or anywhere throughout the bottom 6.

I'm looking forward to the day people making NYR pages stop trying to sign Patrick Kane. It's not happening.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldSenileGuy</b></div><div>Is this a wishful thing or did this happen? I’m in the dark with twitter down lol</div></div>
No, more wishful thinking for Yamamoto, but outside of the Yamamoto (mock signing) and the rfa's of laffy and miller (I also mocked), all these deals are true.

If hes gonna play like that
What does Drury need to do to prove to the hockey world he isn't going after Kane? I think the asking price is just too high. Both NYR and TOR decided to go elsewhere.
The fact that he didn't go for retention on Motte does in my mind spell it out very clearly.

Dvorak for 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>In_it_to_winnik</b></div><div>Not sure what to think of Dvorak. Had a few good years but has been injured and awful this year. I'd have a look at Copp and rakell. Mainly copp. Feel like a bigger centre/winger is what the Rangers like and he's been very good. Maybe even Stastny as a rental. Even a holl/dermott out of Toronto to help the 3rd pair as it has been weak</div></div>
The thing is all Habs have been injured and horrible this year under Ducharme, but msl came in and they’re all playing way better. I know it’s a very small sample size, but Dvorak played his first game under the new coach last night and looked really good. I don’t think he gets traded until the offseason because I’d imagine teams who would grab him at the deadline would offer way less than what Hughes would want. Hughes and Gorton probably want the rest of the season to boost his value cause I don’t think a team is offering what you offered at the deadline.

Light trade deadline
That's definitely a reasonable offer for Montreal.
It doesn't address an immediate need, but it's <em>at least</em> sufficient value wise. I'm not high on Kravtsov and Gauthier is inconsequential, but it's still around two 2nds and a 5th in total with potential for more.

The Ultimate Poison Pill
On the real, BUF should have no interest in dealing Skinner considering they can afford to hold him for a while. He will likely find time in the top-6 again this year with Krueger gone and maybe bounce back a bit. Attaching any negative value to Eichel would not be wise.

Stop Ignoring Player Bonuses
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldSenileGuy</b></div><div>This makes sense, but then where does the allowance to go 7.5% over the cap due to performance bonuses come into play?
EDIT: Talking about this bit in CapFriendly's CBA FAQ:
"Performance bonuses count against the salary cap; however, a team can exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses by the maximum performance bonus cushion amount of 7.5 percent of the upper limit."</div></div>
This is covered under 50.5 (h)(i) and (h)(iii).
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHL CBA 50.5 (h)</b></div><div>(i) "The cash amount of any Performance Bonuses contained in an SPC that becomes impossible to earn in a given League Year shall, at that time, be deducted from the Club's Averaged Club Salary."
(iii) "Performance Bonuses that may be earned by Players pursuant to Section 50.2(b)(i)(C) above, provided that under no circumstances may a Club's Averaged Club Salary so exceed the Upper Limit by an amount greater than the result of seven-and-one-half (7.5) percent multiplied by the Upper Limit (the 'Performance Bonus Cushion')"</div></div>
So at the beginning of the year, 100% of the bonuses count against the cap, and the team cannot exceed the cap by more than the 7.5% rule. So the maximum amount of performance bonuses they can carry on opening night is $6.1125M. However, as the season progresses and certain bonuses become unattainable, the bonus cap hit for those contracts are reduced, and therefore more bonus contracts can be added mid-season.

Nylander is a serviceable Center. There's no way the Leafs make that trade, but if you're toying around with the lines, Nylander can play C.

Tell Me About Michal Kempny
Michal Kempny got 18 points at even strength this past year and was +19. Current Rangers who did both last year are Panarin, Fox, and if they can sign him, Strome. Adding a fourth guy at that level for a 7th round pick would be awesome if you could do it, but let's be realistic.
Some Caps fans are giving away lots of guys left and right to make cap space for Hall. Other Caps fans think that the guys the old coaches benched have to be traded because the coaches didn't like them. But the coaches all got fired. The old head coach is back to being an assistant in Pittsburgh. His opinion doesn't matter anymore.
NYR, NSH, MTL, and BUF are all rumored to want a top-four LHD. Could one of them score Kempny cheaply if the Caps really are in on Hall? Sure. Otherwise, bidding probably has to get up to about a 2nd round pick, or at least a high third and a risk/reward prospect, before the Caps are strongly motivated to sell? The only way they go cheaper is if Brendan Dillon wants to stay in Washington on a contract cheaper than Kempny's, and Carlson is happier skating with Dillon, but Carlson has put up his best offensive numbers of his career playing with Kempny, so I'd honestly be surprised.
Other guys that lots of Caps fans on here are giving away cheaply are Hagelin and Panik, two wings who consistently get about 30 points a year and not only play on the Caps' top penalty killing unit, but helped it rise from a bottom ten unit before their arrival to a top ten unit this year. Kempny's defensive improvement was a part of that rise as well. I highly recommend all three players, but I don't think a 7th pick is doing it. The Caps could use a right shot defenseman. They could use a center who's good at faceoffs. Their prospect depth has again been rated the worst in the league by the Athletic, so prospects at any position besides LHD should be tempting.

Tell Me About Michal Kempny
He's still good but Caps are absolutely loaded at LHD and they want to give youngsters (Siegenthaler, Fehervary, and then Alexeyev soon) more TOI. They aren't moving Orlov so Kempny makes the most sense. They'd probably move him for a 3rd or if they get bidding going maybe a late 2nd.
