Offseason getting better defensively and younger
I would accept that offer as the Anaheim GM, but you need that pick to be our 2024 choice, not the 2025.

All three teams decline. Ottawa and Nashville aren't trading their high-quality youngsters for expensive veterans and Seattle is looking for impact forwards, not depth players.

My esteemed friend has it right: Too many errors.
1. We are not buying John Gibson out.
2. Jakob Silfverberg retired from the NHL and will be playing for his club side in Sweden next season.
3. Other than possibly Lagesson and Meyers, I don't see us signing one of those UFAs.
4. Your line combinations are way off.
5. Olen Zellweger will be a regular this year.
6. Verbeek said that he will try to add a right-shot top-6 forward and right-shot top-4 defenseman this offseason, either by trade or free-agency signing, and you haven't made such an effort.

Offseason Attempt
For the sake of completeness, I think that you should give us your thoughts -- if only in outline -- on what you foresee for the RFAs that you <strong>didn't</strong> sign: Lundestrom, Vaakanainen and Lindstrom. Personally, I'd keep one of the defenders just in case Luneau isn't ready for Prime Time.
I like everything else here, but my feeling is that even if we fall to fourth next Tuesday, we still have a shot at Levshunov because I can see the two teams between us and Celebrini selecting among Demidov, Lindstrom and Buium.
Go Ducks!

Next year
I'd rather have Trevor Zegras long-term and Frankie Vatrano for one season than Mitch Marner for one season. Plus, there's the chance that we might want to re-sign Frankie, which we will be able to do, versus the no chance that we'll be able to re-sign Marner.

The idea that Ottawa would be the team adding in a Brady-for-Marner trade is as hilariously cuckoo as the similar idea in a contemporaneous ACGM that Toronto would be the team adding in a Morgan-Reilly-for-Jakob-Chychrun trade.

I came here because of the Anaheim trade and I was about to comment on it when I saw the Ottawa trade out of the corner of my eye. What in the world would suggest to you that in a Reilly-for-Chychrun trade, the Maple Leafs would be the team adding, never mind Toronto's second-best prospect?!?!? Wow!!
The Liljegren - Robertson package is undervalued, too.
Oh . . . no team is giving you more than a sixth for Conor Timmins.

If we manage somehow to unburden ourselves of Pierre-Luc DuBois, we're not going to invest assets to acquire a 33-year-old lame duck #3C.
You don't have Jordan Spence on the roster, although you re-signed him. He's definitely NHL quality.

No, thanks, Radko Gudas is the hardest hitter and toughest guy on our team. If we want the most-often-offered guy on yours, there are plenty of other ways to obtain him.

No, we'll want more for Trevor Zegras. The difference between those two 2019 draftees is a lot more than the value of a speculative future first.
McMichael, career to date: 155 games, 27 goals, 24 assists = 51 points
Zegras, first three seasons: 180 games, 49 goals, 90 assists = 139 points

Making it work
I can imagine investing a fourth in one season of Cody Ceci as a depth move if our efforts to land a top-4 RhD all fail, but we have no interest in the disappointing Bourgault or need for a sixth LD in Broberg, so we'll hang on to our 37-goal scorer, whom we might want to re-sign next summer. Plus the thought of turning him loose with McDavid and Draisaitl and becoming Zach Hyman 2.0 is too frightening to contemplate for very long.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Cadyn</b></div><div>Do you know Dylan DeMelo personally, and has he told you what kind of team he would sign with in free agency? <div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LosPatos</b></div><div>*money has entered the chat*</div></div>
Los Angeles finished 6th out of 8 in the division in the pandemic-shortened 2020-2021 season, 7 games out of the playoffs. That off-season, Phillip Danault signed with the Kings for 6 seasons at $5.5 million. Sometimes, players go where they'll fit best and expect to succeed.

For Niemela and two thirds you get Max Jones and Brock McGinn, not Trevor Zegras.
Tell me what value that Dallas third (can't be earlier than 92) has to Anaheim when the Ducks have picks 66, 68 and 79 in front of it and pick 100 behind it.

Purely Hypothetical Draft Scenario - Flyers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Renegade_H</b></div><div>You confuse me. NYI, Kings, and Ducks fan?
Also, I had a convo with a very active Anaheim poster and we agreed this could be in play due to logjam at C.</div></div>
My loyalties are geographical. I'm an old NY Islander fan because I grew up in New York City but moved to California once the dynasty was over. I got to Los Angeles just in time for the Wayne Gretzky trade, so I've been pretty lucky with my hockey fandom.
I wouldn't trade out of first overall just because we had Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish in the center and Cutter Gauthier, Mack Celebrini, Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras at forward. In my fantasies, I've thought about the following line combinations: Gauthier - Carlsson - Killorn, Zegras - Celebrini - Strome, and Vatrano - McTavish - Terry. Each line has one forward good in the faceoff circle and a "gunner" (Gauthier, Celebrini, Vatrano), a play-driving distributor (Carlsson, Zegras, Terry), and a defensively-responsible 200-foot character player (Killorn, Strome, McTavish).

Yes, Stamkos, Pesce and Levshunov would be the perfect off-season for us.
With this roster, there is a very good chance that the Ducks would become the surprise contender of 2025 just like Philadelphia was in 2024.

One of those 5 as to leave whats your pick
This post perfectly illustrates the problem Toronto now faces: all of these players are essentially untradeable not because their value is low but because it is too <strong>high</strong>. No team is willing to pay the price shown no matter which Maple Leaf is offered in the deal.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>The Leafs easily decline seven year of Huberdeau.
The other teams easily decline all those trades.</div></div>
