Mighty Ducks of Anahaim 24-25
You did way too much here.
Vatrano will stay until the deadline
ANA isn’t retaining $3M on Gibson, nor taking on Campbell
Same for Lehner
Lacombe, Lundestrom, and Regenda could be expendable, but that’s not the right return to target (don’t need more LW, and a 4LW isnt addressing a need)
Hronek would be nice, but the quantity approach vs quality likely doesn’t get it done
Reinhart alone, sure (I’d prefer stammer if we can pull it). Not Rein and Guentzel. Ducks have a ton of guys coming off ELCs in the next 2 years, that’ll put us in a terrible spot to be able to keep them around

We've told you, 2nd pairing RD or middle 6 RW of equal caliber and age range. Or LaCombe plus the EDM 1st for your first.

A couple late 1sts certainly doesn’t make Verbeek want to trade Zegras

Newhook is mid, Zegras is actually good, Anaheim declines unless its your 24 first as the main piece.
We don't need anymore middle/bottom 6 pieces you get with those picks, were stocked

Run it back next year
Kings aren't going to trade Turcotte (much less with Kaliyev added) for a 4th line center and a scratch.
Also, nah, Carts doesn't get his 77 put in the rafters. He might get a "Legends Night" if they bring those back, though. To me he falls into a similar category as Justin Williams.

Wonder if we could throw like 8 million + at one of those two for 2 years — that would be more ideal imo

Reinhart is a great target, but I wouldn't expect him to ever repeat this season, and I wonder if he'd take that, given the tax differences here to FLA are a huge savings.
To answer the question, 22-26th overall, the defense would still be an issue, we'd still allow too many goals against. We really need another defense first D for Mintyukov, if that means keeping Luneau and Leshunov in SD for a couple seasons then so be it.

Brutal offer
Also weak western conference? The West has won the last 2 cups and all the teams at the top look like Juggernauts. Right now the West is way stronger than the East

There is a better chance of me playing for the Avs then them trading assets and taking on a $3.5M 3rd pairing dman, especially considering they could just re-sign Walker for something close to that. Easy no.

Haven’t looked that far ahead, will have to do some research on it thanks

I would prefer to build with those picks instead of using them on Zegras. Probably doesn't help I've become Brink's biggest fanboy either. Zegras is a good add to any team but I doubt the Ducks want to move him.
I'd only consider the Chychrun trade if it came with an extension.
Not really sure why we would sign Stamkos though, I doubt after our exit month this year we have a solid enough team to truly push playoffs, but then again we could flip him for a decent package if push comes to shove.

Gibsons Value
Having looked into his advanced stats, and having watched him play extensively, his only issue is engagement. His high danger and medium danger GSAX is still up there with the best goalies in the league, it's his low danger that's been suffering, and that comes down to stuff that happens as a result of defensive lapses, blown coverage, just not getting any help from his own team.
He's clearly frustrated with getting wheeled out to take a beating behind a suffering team, the vibes aren't there a lot of the games. I've been in the same situation in beer league where I stand on my head for half the game, my team does F*** all to try and compete, and I just stop caring since no one else out there is, and I'm not going to hurt myself in a game that is already over.
As to his trade value, it's hard to know, we have no problem with salary and are very happy with a Gibson Dostal tandem, he's a great.mentor for Dostal who still yoyos from game to game with his performances. The only reason he moves is a sufficiently attractive offer or him actually demanding a trade.
As to last seasons rumors, Verbeek wasn't shopping him, Dubas was calling on him and the Toronto media went crazy on the rumour to the point Gibson's agent had to release a statement publicly stating he had no desire to go to Toronto. The rumors about Gibson never suiting up again were Frank Seravalli, who is a known rabble rouser with Anaheim info, dude hasn't been right about anything on our team, basically ever.

Gibsons Value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Byrr</b></div><div>The problem with the 'bad team' argument is that his backups are always playing better behind that same team.</div></div>
Not significantly. Last season, Gibson put up a .899 SV%, which is almost exactly league average. The median save percentage by teams last year was .8985. Dostal put up a .901 playing a backup role (i.e. easier starts). Keep in mind that Dostal is a highly regarded young goaltender that is expected to be a quality starter in the league.
I'm not saying that Gibson should be getting Vezina votes or anything, but he's definitely still a quality goaltender in the league. I'm a Kings fan that absolutely can't stand the Ducks, and I have no problem admitting that.

The problem with that argument is the backups are always getting the easier assignments, hence the improved stat lines.

No, it came out as a rumor last summer that Gibson had said that he would never play another game for the Ducks, and he had to come out and publicly deny that. The Ducks said they had no intention of trading him.
His numbers don't look good, but he has had one of the single worst teams in the league playing in front of him for the last several years.

Canadiens 2024-25 starting lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Not close to either player, each of whom is comparable to Cole Caufield.
You cannot construct realistic trades that benefit both sides by starting the process thinking about what assets you believe you can afford to give up. Instead, a good place to start is by asking yourself what the OTHER team needs that might induce them to trade you the asset(s) you're trying to acquire. For Anaheim, that's a quality RW or RD, or a sufficiently high draft pick to select one.</div></div>
And to piggyback on the team needs train, the Canes need a clear cut 2C or a young winger replacement coming back for Necas. They have no need for D or D prospects.

Doesn’t really do much for Arizona, they have an abundance of picks and quantity of prospects, they are shooting for gold, need of franchise changers via draft/free agency or any trades.

Picking 5th
That's not even close, especially since the chances are they'd get Florida's 2025 1st. Definitely have to lose Arizonas 2nd going back too. It would probably cost Hutson or Reinbacher, since that's what they'd be giving up, the chance to get a top pairing defenseman with their pick.

Blues and Montreal fans thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>Hate it from a Montreal perspective. Not only do I prefer around 2-4 forwards in the draft to Snuggerud, I'd rather just take the D-man and try to trade for a prospect that better fits Montreal's needs than Snuggerud.
You're also severely underestimating how long D usually take to develop if you think any from this draft will be a top pair D in 1 to 2 years.</div></div>
I understand that normally a dman takes longer to develop I'm just saying Parayko doesn't need a fully developed top pair dman to play with. Him and a 20 year old Silayev would still be great. Fair on Montreal not wanting Snuggerud.

I think MTL will have better prospects available at 5 so they’d probably pass. Plus I’m still very excited about the prospect of Thomas feeding snuggerud for a decade. I think he’s setting up for a massive season for the gophers after acknowledging he wasn’t good enough last season
