Nothing 2 Crazy
I think a lot of those RFA's are overpaid.
Ejdsell and Sikura wont get above 900,000. They haven't played enough NHL games to deserve anything more. Same with Perlini, but I dont see the hawks offering a contract.
I dont see Forsberg resigning here. He's pretty much guaranteed to be in the AHL if he does. Some other team would take a gamble on his as a NHL backup.
Forsling I dont think will get anything above 1 MIL either, mainly because of his injury issues.
koekkoek and Kampf seem about right.
I like Dzingle, but i think that would be a big gamble contract. Also, if hes gunna sign a BIG ticket contract in the off season (which he will) he wont take a 2 year deal. some team will offer him a 5 year. probably around the 4 Mil +/- $500,000.
And i dont think Kubalik can sign anything other than an entry-level deal. because he was drafted, unless he has waited the 4 years, and on July 1 he would be an UFA. im not sure about that though.
other than that lots of cash to play with in free agency. its been a long time since that has happened.

Quoting: drewjenks

It seems like you're the one who's getting a bit "salty".
Lets be truthful here....you're not not a big fan of the Leafs newfound success?
You do seem to have a lot of answers though....so I'm hoping you can help me figure a few things out:
1. Why hasn't Nylander signed an offer sheet yet? (word on the street was that Nylander would get tons).
2. How many teams will have the cap space (and desire) to offer Matthews $13,000,000 plus? (while giving up four 1st round picks for the privilege).
3. How many GM's believe the Leafs wouldn't match 100% of offers out of principle? (even if they have to trade Matthews, they won't let someone steal him).
4. How many GM's would commit career suicide for something with a 99% failure rate? (do you want your industries most powerful company out to get you?)
"Not being a d-bag here, but they're legit questions".... so please help a brotha understand?

You’re reading sarcasm where there is none.

not being a d-bag here, but its a legit question/situation. his agents job is purely to get him the best deal he can. and he, i would think, has some good arguments as to why he would deserve or even warrant the same kind of cash and term. It could be an interesting development.

decent isnt even gunna cut it for Dorian and Melnyk at this point. If he does trade Karlsson and Duchene or anyone else hes gunna have to come out as the clear winner of that trade. or he's not gunna have a job anymore. for how much they gave up to get duchene. theyre are gunna need to get close if not more on that return.

Its pretty arguable that duchene is the better player of all three of them. so more than likely it would be a schmaltz and a 1st for him alone. down year or not.
just cause you keep adding a lot more "ok/mediocre" assets doesn't mean it adds up to about equal. OTT is gunna want less quantity and more quality for their star players.

I also dont see how the asking price wouldnt NEED to include one of Debrincat or Schmaltz
If the asking price for Patches/Skinner/Faulk is one of those players, that Duchene wouldnt need the same on the return

Quoting: Stan_Bowman

WE CAN READ THE DESCRIPTION FINE YOU DONT NEED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS, IT IS PERFECTLY READABLE AS IT CURRENTLY IS. THE TRADE YOU PROPOSED IS PROBABLY A VAST UNDERPAYMENT FOR PACIORETTY NOT TO ALSO INCLUDE SHAW AND RETAINED SALARY. THE HAWKS PROBABLY WONT TRADE AWAY THE GUY THEY DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND, SO IF YOU’RE PROPOSING A FIRST ROUND PICK THEN IT’LL PROBABLY HAVE TO BE A 2019 FIRST WHICH IS LOTTERY PROTECTED. OTHER THAN THOSE TWO THINGS I THINK IF THE HAWKS COULD GET AWAY WITH THE TRADE AS IT STANDS WE WILL BE GOLDEN FOR A COUPLE YEARS.

not really quoting you, just wanted to include you.
Scott Powers was on the blackhawks talk podcast and he brought up an interesting point about how Stan was talking about how "oh the league is getting younger and faster. and we have to adapt to that. look towards making those same changes to our roster" yet, before FA the roster was looking to be pretty young. you can also say very inexperienced but basically going off what Stan said in interviews at the draft about trying to get younger and fast with and without the puck. But then they add 2 28 yearolds, a 34 and a 40 year old. Scott said on the podcast that basically the roster at the draft up til now went from middle of the pack in age, to back to about the 5th oldest avg team age in the league.
it was just an interesting point about how bowman has been saything, but then does kind of the complete opposite later. "we have assets in multiple 1'st that can be packaged to make the team better for next year" (drafts both picks), "we are looking to make a big splash in FA this year" spends 5 mil on kunitz, ward, and manning...... but then trades for more cap space AFTER basically everyone is gone from FA. its all just super odd. i really dont know the direction of this team and where they are going. they keep saying, they want to be competitive but also not risk the future. but being stuck in the middle, at least to me, doesnt really allow you to get that good at either.

which seems soooo risky to me. Youre guaranteed faulk for an extra year, but i would have a bad feeling that if the team as a whole still has a down year and slips out of a playoff spot (rest of the lower D cant keep up, or if crow take another long term injury leave) the risk of a lottery first and skinner maybe walking in FA. Sure, if Panarin is available you have just that much more cap space. but basically ditching your next top line center after toews is done with no one in the pipeline. thats a big risk to "win with the core guys within 2/3 years"

i think the only way the hawks end up with panarin is if he goes all the way to free agency. which kinda looks like a decent possibility with all the grand standing between Jarmo and Panarin.

i dont really see much of an argument to the whole "im not gunna give as much cause he only has one year left on his deal" you can negotiate with the aquired player, his opinions might change. it doesnt change his value too too much. its not like some teams gunna go to OTT and be like " here is 2 seconds for karlsson... oh i dont plan on resigning him"
if that was true, then every team would say just to drive the price down.

Regardless, trading Seabrook and his $6.875M for Eriksson and his $6M contract would be such a joke. You only save 2 years because Eriksson's contract is shorter but he's also the inferior player. everyone knows that hawks are in the weirdest spot, any deal pretty much at this point is gonna be a waaayyyyy over pay on the hawks part. sure, it may not bet as dirastic as i said, but it sure as sh*t feels like it at this point. bickel; had like 3 years left on his deal that was around 4 ish mil (i think) and it took tuevo and some change to get that contract off. sure, seabs isnt as bad as bickell. but that contract man, that contract is basically the black plague.
