WE CAN READ THE DESCRIPTION FINE YOU DONT NEED TO TYPE IN ALL CAPS, IT IS PERFECTLY READABLE AS IT CURRENTLY IS. THE TRADE YOU PROPOSED IS PROBABLY A VAST UNDERPAYMENT FOR PACIORETTY NOT TO ALSO INCLUDE SHAW AND RETAINED SALARY. THE HAWKS PROBABLY WONT TRADE AWAY THE GUY THEY DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND, SO IF YOU’RE PROPOSING A FIRST ROUND PICK THEN IT’LL PROBABLY HAVE TO BE A 2019 FIRST WHICH IS LOTTERY PROTECTED. OTHER THAN THOSE TWO THINGS I THINK IF THE HAWKS COULD GET AWAY WITH THE TRADE AS IT STANDS WE WILL BE GOLDEN FOR A COUPLE YEARS.

I'm sorry Mr. Bowman, but I'm afraid it is too late.

not really quoting you, just wanted to include you.
Scott Powers was on the blackhawks talk podcast and he brought up an interesting point about how Stan was talking about how "oh the league is getting younger and faster. and we have to adapt to that. look towards making those same changes to our roster" yet, before FA the roster was looking to be pretty young. you can also say very inexperienced but basically going off what Stan said in interviews at the draft about trying to get younger and fast with and without the puck. But then they add 2 28 yearolds, a 34 and a 40 year old. Scott said on the podcast that basically the roster at the draft up til now went from middle of the pack in age, to back to about the 5th oldest avg team age in the league.

it was just an interesting point about how bowman has been saything, but then does kind of the complete opposite later. "we have assets in multiple 1'st that can be packaged to make the team better for next year" (drafts both picks), "we are looking to make a big splash in FA this year" spends 5 mil on kunitz, ward, and manning...... but then trades for more cap space AFTER basically everyone is gone from FA. its all just super odd. i really dont know the direction of this team and where they are going. they keep saying, they want to be competitive but also not risk the future. but being stuck in the middle, at least to me, doesnt really allow you to get that good at either.

He didn't clear that much space up for no good reason. He tried to sign FA players, but they didn't want to come to Chicago. So that plan failed. Next plan, dump Hossa contract, make room for trades, and play the market as best he can. If the prices continue to drop on Faulk/Skinner/Patches/et al as we get closer to the season, and he can get what he needs without sacrificing the future D chips, he wins. If he can't, he signed the old folks home players that get them through this season (and I guess next with Manning... Christ he better not suck...), and JJ's "silent rebuild" becomes a little louder.

Point is, Stan has been trying to play all the options. We won't know what he can pull off for probably awhile now. Now we wait...

Also, can we PLEASE put a goddamned moratorium on all of this Andrew Shaw nonsense? I loved Shawzie. But he's gone. He shouldn't come back. Ever.
