Shenanigans
Lol
Your disclaimer is noted, but it’s still an absurd idea
1- Sabres like Skinner & aren’t trying to get rid of him
2- especially not if they have to give up pick 11
3- and there’s pretty much no chance Skinner would wave
Hope it’s fun for you to imagine ,
bc it’s just not happening

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>Right - as are the proposed signings / extensions from the OP for '25-'26. I just was noting that those cap additions will likely be offset by the potential subtractions I noted, leaving no excuse for the Sabres not to add a decent player with term and high cap hit........this summer or next.</div></div>
It’s not an excuse
Budgeting to fit these contracts moving forward will help keep us from losing guys we don’t want to
Are there ways to bring in someone like Konecny, etc ?
Sure
But is it reasonable?
Probably not. Seems very unlikely

Summer blockbuster crazy
Hard pass from Buffalo
And not just bc it’s an overpay
Sabres can’t fit his next deal under the Cap
Not unless you’re taking Skinner as part of the trade
And it’s very unlikely Skinner would waive

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The420SusMan69</b></div><div>Well you'd have him for the 24-25 and 25-26 season, ideally the cap is high enough by then and maybe the Skinner contract is gone too. He'll likely be an 8 million player is my guess</div></div>
When Skinner is moved out, that Cap will be taken up by young talent who’s gonna be getting new deals
Byram, Peterka & Quinn after next year
Tuch & Benson the year after that
We just don’t have much Cap space that we can devote to bringing in new players- not long term anyways

My Big Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>How far away are the prospects (Kulich, Savoie, Ostlund) from being ready to meaningfully contribute in the NHL?</div></div>
Savoie and Ostlund haven’t even gotten to the AHL yet
And we are at the point where we aren’t “rushing” to get talent here- we’ve made that mistake too many times
Kulich could be ready for next season
But there’s talk that he could end up a winger in the NHL- or at least start there
Same basic talk with Savoie, but i think the Sabres wanna see him get some time in the AHL
Ostlund still projects as a 2way Center for the middle6
Again, likely to go to the AHL first & not jump right to the Sabres

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Perfect. Good to know.
My thought process was with Tage, Cozens, Kulich, Savoie, Krebs, Ostlund.
Wahlberg may be the odd man out. That was simply from an outside perspective, you as a buffalo fan would be much more in tune with that than me
At this point, what is Krebs future looking like? Projecting like a 3C/4C?</div></div>
You aren’t wrong, we are definitely going to be overloaded at Center- really at forward in general (all those guys play the wing too, but we still don’t have room for ALL of them)
But it doesn’t seem like the GM is ready to start moving out bodies yet
That might be a mistake, but it’s what it seems like
Krebs hasn’t been disappointing as much as he’s just been buried- but now that we traded Mittelstadt, it’ll be interesting to see if the Sabres give him his shot at 3C, or if we keep him as our defensive center & bring in another guy
I think- if given the chance- he projects as an above average 3C who could move up or down the lineup if needed- especially if he gets a chance to start using his offensive skills more often

Put aside whether he is available, that is a separate discussion.
What would his valuation be? because I am currently valuing him equivalent to an early 2nd.</div></div>
I think your valuation is in the ballpark
But again, it’s not about valuation. I’ll believe our GM is looking to move out prospects when i start seeing it happen- or AT LEAST start hearing legit rumors that we’re looking to make moves like that
I don’t think the Sabres are looking to make the kind of deal u want us to do with u guys
Sorry

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>The odds that Clifton is still on the team in his final contract year seem slim IMO - he seems destined to be traded before 2025-26 opening night IMO. Likewise, if Skinner doesn't rebound this coming season, the talk about buying him out (if not able to deal him) seem more palatable next summer.
Although Quinn and Peterka seem joined at the hip since their Rochester promotions and are equally valuable, I think Peterka is more likely to earn that cap hit by 2025-26 and Quinn being more on a bridge, prove-it value because he has more to prove in terms of staying healthy and full-season of production.
Adams can add big salary this summer - and if he's able to identify an impact player that fits with the core's age range (i.e. Cirelli or Crouse would be such example), I think he will.</div></div>
Those moves you’re talking about are for NEXT offseason though
Seems to me like the type of trade ppl here want is more likely to happen then, not now

I don’t think he’s a guy we are looking to deal
It’s not about valuations
I just don’t think our GM is ready to start throwing around our good prospects for aging Vets
We are still focused on building from within & developing our young talent
If we go after a RD by trade, that means we are moving on from Jokiharju & looking for an upgrade
So a trade we might- MIGHT- do, could be something like Jokiharju + for a CLEAR upgrade
Probably someone better than Marino imo
He hasn’t exactly been “great” lately

To be fair….
Our fellow Sabres fans are just as bad

Ask vegas, tampa, Toronto, about the cap. They are more than fine.
And move Skinner with 3 to 4.5 million retained.
Deal is done.
You're already planning giving benson big money lol. This was my 3rd rated prospect in last years draft, but I'm not concerned about his cap. Geez sab fans, talk about counting your eggs.</div></div>
Toronto is a great example of why we need to keep an eye on our future Cap & not spend frivolously
Not budgeting for the future will end up doing more harm than good
