Yeah, the Cap will keep going up
But not enough for us to fit new contracts after next year for :
Byram, Quinn & Peterka
And then the following year :
Tuch & Benson (& maybe Levi)
Sabres just can’t bring in a guy like Konecny & pay him

This is one of the more realistic Buffalo ACGMs I’ve seen
And it wasn’t even done by a Sabres fan !

Next year
Sabres can’t bring in anyone who’s gonna need a big deal- gotta save Cap Room to pay out young talent…. We have 5 big time deals we have to get done over the next few years
We don’t even consider adding Marner
And he wouldn’t waive to come here either

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>Because they can't leave. I don't think Quinn and Byram have leverage to demand anything. I would be contacting bensons agent asap to get a bridge done, he looked like he was on the verge of breaking out at the end of last year. Peterka has been healthy, and produced, consistently, if I had to pay one of those guys, I'd pay him.</div></div>
I hear ya, but i think there’s a disconnect here
I’m not asking what YOU would do
I’m talking about what will actually happen
Of course, neither of us have a crystal ball
But the point I’m making is that Adams isn’t gonna back himself into a corner like this
He’s gonna leave Cap Room to sign the kids
And his m/o is to sign young “core” players to long term deals,
not bridge contracts

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>They'll bridge the guys that are here.
Wanna make space, weegar won't be here, that's not close for him, and I don't think he's just an offensive d anymore, which means he's worth even more. I want the best team possible, so I'm not sentimental about names. Cirelli as a legit two way center could make cozens expendable, provided savoie on an elc is up to the task. That's about 6 million in cap gone. Then, look at every player on this roster making between 2.8 and 4 million, some of those guys are the first ones to go. Ryan Miller said it a long time ago- the middle class in hockey is disappearing. If there's a cap crunch, it's not gonna be dahlin or Thompson that goes.</div></div>
Why exactly will all those guys get bridged ?
Or more to the point, why would they all AGREE to bridge deals ?

We would need to get rid of Skinner the following season,
but that seems inevitable at this point

As unlikely as they are, let’s just say we could pull all these moves off
Where do we get the Salary Cap to pay Byram, Quinn & Peterka next year?
And how do we get room to pay Tuch & Benson the following year?
Even with bridge deals to all the kids (again, unlikely),
There’s still no way to fit them
As exciting as this might be for 1 year
It simply doesn’t work moving forward

Kraken Next Year
It’s a “maybe” from the Sabres
I think we’d want a better pick, but that’s not really the issue
Jokiharju is our only RH defenseman who can play in the top4,
and we do like him
So we’d need to have a replacement before we could move him
And i could see that as a possibility
Also, Tanev does make sense for us
He’s the type of player the Sabres could use

Byram didn't play with Dahlin most of the way down the stretch so he's gotta earn it at 2LD with a new partner.
I'd put money on Dahlin and Power staying together because they were excellent at the end of the year.
Peterka will likely get a full extension.
All told that's only like 17M$ in AAV. Plenty of room for a big addition or two.</div></div>
Quinn is gonna have a big year & get a big contract
And the following season, Tuch & Benson & (probably) Levi will get raises
