I wouldn't be against a gamble on Norris but would obviously prefer Pinto as a Canes fan. I'd imagine that if you want the Canes to take the Norris gamble, you'll also have to take on Kuznetsov's $3.9M cap hit this year (which does expire next offseason).

Drai
Can't see the Avs being in the bidding for Draisaitl with what he'll command as a salary. They also realistically have something of an internal cap now imo with MacKinnon. The value isn't something the Avs should baulk at in a vacuum, but I'd also rather have all three of those players (assuming a recovered Nuke and if not recovered then the value isn't there for EDM) than add one in the form of Draisaitl. No question he's good but it's a team game. The damage that would do as far as building the rest of the roster would be catastrophic.

Carolina Hurricanes signed William Carrier (6 Years / $2,000,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigVuVu</b></div><div>we didn't improve. we lost Teuvo, Pesce, Skjei, Guentz, we're gonna lose Necas. We didn't trade / buy KK out. And we didn't sign anyone good. Carrier 6x2 and Eric Robinson cmon. we're gonna miss the playoffs</div></div>
I remember the 2021 offseason.
"Why didn't we resign Dougie????"
"Why did we trade Jake Bean????"
"Why did we trade Ned????"
"Why did we sign DeAngelo????"
"The canes are cooked"
"Fire Don"
And then we won the metro and all the people losing their minds forgot about it. I get that emotions run high but this is just how this franchise operates. We have success by thinking outside the box and not doing what everyone expects us to do. People are flipping their **** when we haven't seen the team play a single game.
Everyone was wanted to fire Don in 2021 and now people are doing the same with Tulsky when, it should be said, the season hasn't started. This team made the playoffs in 2019 with 37 year old Justin Williams on our first line, we're not going to collapse into nothing just because we let our aging veterans walk. Patience is a virtue, one that our fanbase lacks, as I've discovered the last 24 hours.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JarvisforSelke</b></div><div>I think the AAV offsets it... at worst they just buyout or trade it later with little cap repercussions</div></div>
Burying the contract in the minors is also a viable option and almost certainly better than a buyout, only counts like 700k against the cap in that case, probably less in a few years with increasing salaries.

I could see him take less to stay in Tampa but not less than $4M as listed here He's worth a minimum of $6M x 3 and could get more on the open market
Utah needs a superstar with a name they can sell.

I doubt he gets moved at all but if I had to guess it would be Canes or Jets. They are the 2 teams that clearly want a top 6 center

It's a tough one to gauge. I ran it by a coworker (Sens fan with no stake in the game) a couple weeks ago and we couldn't figure out what it would look like. On 1 hand Kadri is clearly a much better player right now. On the other he is like 10 years older and signed into his late 30's at 7M.

That definitely favors Calgary. Maybe Kadri is a little bit better right now but probably not for long. I could see a deal around KK though

Matheson is more impctful</div></div>
He was 3rd in TOI because Montreal had nobody else on their blue line. He’d be a #4 defenseman at best in Carolina.
Rod put Necas on lines with some of the worst offensive forwards on the team all year, including in the playoffs, where he still put up 9 points in 11 games.

I do? I mean even if he didn’t have them, he isn’t a need. He’d be playing third pair here both this season and next

I would think this is close but I doubt Canes fans are looking for a defenseman even though Samuelsson is a solid one. I would think they would be more tempted with the 14th and an offensive prospect

I would guess canes do if they’re interested in him. Late first and a project type D who still has some potential but likely tops out as a bottom pair or 7D offensive dman doesn’t seem like a winning offer to me. I’d take it tho!

Could be a chance for a third team to get in there. Hurricanes rumored to have interest in Konency if the Flyers don't want to meet his price. Flyers would love another top 12 pick in this draft.

It's a genuinely baffling move by Detroit. There has to be something else related to this to make it make some sort of sense.

I don't hate this - don't see Vegas doing that deal unless they're in on a bigger fish like Guentzel , but I actually like this lineup. Nicely done.
