Dubas Likely To Be Aggressive
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>I'm not saying I necessarily would pay them more either - maybe would need to find alternatives. And I don't think you egregiously underpaid anybody. I just think there's multiple guys there that have a very good chance of making a few hundred K more each. I normally don't like to nitpick AAVs - it's just when you're that close to the cap it might cause an issue haha.
Yeah I'd agree he's tough to gauge. With the cap going up I could see him getting the same AAV as a guy like Palat - maybe not likely though. Even if he does sign at 5.5 though, I can see Duclair/Wennberg/Walker getting some more. Again I don't think you're far off by any means, it's just any increase puts you over the cap. I'm probably just being an annoying nitpicker haha. So that's my bad. I do think it would be a good team though</div></div>
All good. I thought it provided depth the forward group lacks. Money might be tight to pull off. Maybe the goat recruits well lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>It's definitely a good team - I just think you underpaid most of the UFAs by a little bit. Which normally wouldn't be a huge deal, but you're right up against the cap. So probably will have to drop someone, maybe two players. I also don' see any signs that Pickering is ready for that spot yet.</div></div>
Maybe Wennberg and Walker get more. I wouldn't pay more for the others. Turbo's market is hard to gauge. He's a good two way guy but is his production worth $6+?? Idk. I'd struggle with that.

Changes for next year to get this team back to contending
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>Lets be honest though - Ned did not carry the team. The reason the Pens went on a run is because they decided to score like 5 goals a game. Ned's numbers were subpar down the stretch. What he showed is he's a very good backup - but not starter material. If you want to say he's a better bang for the buck, you can make that argument - but the goaltending here is definitely a downgrade</div></div>
I agree except i think he could be a 1b at least with what he's shown till right now. Definitely way better bang for the buck like desmith was, there was no reason to give jarry a pay raise like that when we needed to spend on depth even more.

Hes making nearly 11 mil, only has 2 points, has been very very soft. He also just doesnt look like hes trying when hes in the defensive zone especially on the PK. Hes been a liability for the Leafs defensively. And to top it off he was throwing fits on the bench just to get another shift 2 seconds later. If your teammates are yelling at you, you're obviously not doing something right.

Offseason 1 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>I saw, specifically in March, some times where he looked defeated or frustrated after a goal if thats what you're referring to. But the Pens were basically the worst defensive team in the league that month - so personally I'll give him the pass on that. Also there was a stretch where a ton of the goals hit off their own players, or defenders were running into Jarry - I think part of it was just shock.
Not sure what you mean by his antics and not being well received though?
I'm not saying Jarry is some elite goalie by the way. I've always had him in that 10-12 range give or take. Whether he's worth the upgrade to a team based on cap hit and what assets you have to give up - that's the million dollar question. I totally understand if people say they'd rather just give a 2mil goalie a shot and see how it goes. Especially for a good team like COL</div></div>
Oh I was talking about Georgiev not Jarry sorry for the confusion. And this is all applicable to Georgiev not Jarry, Breaking sticks, accidentally hitting teammates with his stick, literally letting in a the odd super soft goal. All that and he has been horrendous his last 5 outings, yeah the pk has been bad too, but he gave up 22 goals in his last 5 outings and just looked awful. He really hasn’t been good all year and the team did him no favors running Prosvetov as the back up for half the season over playing him particularly in November December and the first part of January playing him 30 times in that stretch. His QS% and GSAA stats I like to look at are career lows the GSAA is an atrocious -12.1. Good talk my friend!

Offseason 1 2024
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>Yeah I gotcha - that's what we're here for haha - just throwing out our opinions. Love the conversations.
I mean Jarry would kind of fit that bill though no? If you give the guy average defense he'll drop like a .915. Sure he's not perfect, some injuries and consistency things - but that's what separates the elite from the good. His games started would say that overall he's still a relatively available goaltender as well - probably mid 50 starts a year.
I definitely understand the cap hit point though. Just because a guy is an upgrade doesn't mean he's worth it. That's why I said I'm not saying COL would accept the trade.</div></div>
I mean honestly the answer is going to go one of three ways. 1) Georgiev rights the ship and takes them on a deep run then it’s all moot. All he really has to do is be .900 as COL is the highest scoring team and 5v5 team this year. 2) Georgiev stumbles, Annunen comes in does what he has done so far in the regular season and takes them on a deep run and the solution long term has been solved. 3) they both struggle and the Avs are out in the first or second round and they are looking for a new starter and then anybody including Jarry is an option. Honestly I’ve seen a fair share of games (perk of work the seats are exceptional) in person and he has just look beat after he gives up a goal, and his antics down the stretch are not well received by the team as a whole.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>Not saying 10th is impressive - just that it shows he's been pretty available. I also wouldn't count getting the runs as being hurt haha. But fair enough - to each their own.</div></div>
Honestly COL is on the verge of an existential crisis in goal. Georgiev has been horrendous, in his last 5 games he is 1-4 didn’t make it out of the first period in one game and gave up 22 goals. Yeah the d has struggled mightily but COL has to have at least a steady goaltender that is available and gives them .900 goal keeping. Honestly no answer is really off the table, but one thing that can’t happen is they take on a bigger cap hit than Georgiev. That’s my two cents at least.

Slight Retool
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Robinho3799</b></div><div>Kings better keep their 2nd rounder, save a lot of cap space and sign Nedeljkovic for half of what Jarry is getting for 4 more years.
I wonder what the Predators Fans think about the trade for Saros. Heard they want multiple first rounders + a top six winger.</div></div>
Ned isn't a starting goalie, I don't know where people get this idea from.
DET tried that it didn't work out. It wasn't because the rest of the team was "bad." His play was legit bad.
Most people realize he's not a starter which is why that hasn't happened again even though a lot of teams needed goalies.
He's good in small doses though. But you can't rely on him to carry 50+ games.

How we could line up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JSEB93</b></div><div>I'd be fine with a Monahan signing - as well as the Smith trade. Not the biggest fan of the whole goalie scenario though. It seems a bit steep for Ned - and if we're paying him starter money I'd probably try Blomqvist as the backup to spend money elsewhere. And while I'm not opposed to trading Jarry I'm not the biggest fan of the return - mainly in bringing back Husso. Although I understand the thought process with him only having one year left - and that DET would probably want that cap going back. You've got some extra cap space as well that I'd try to utilize.
EDIT: My bad - forgot to read the description about the last dman and realize there was a hole there haha. Yikes. Ignore my cap comment</div></div>
Hard to move Jarry without taking a goalie back. Obviously, I would like to run Blomqvist, but wouldnt mind one more year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Nhl_oilers</b></div><div>I am willing to bank on that Pickering would help you out more than Chychrun in the long run. It’s not for sure that he would sign a deal with y’all, and although he is good, he is severely overrated imo. Pickering could develop, and be with Pittsburgh for years to come, as Chychrun would probably just be on for 1 year, or so. For more to add, Chychrun, Karlsson would be an atrocious pairing!</div></div>
He is only an overrated prospect in the sense that we simply have an empty cupboard. If he was a prospect on a team with a deep prospect pool I’m sure he would receive considerably less attention.

You can say a lot of things about Torts... but him being a clown isn't one of them.
And no,, they don't need a cherry picker who isn't a team player. No one does. Which is why he can't ever find a long term contract.</div></div>
I don’t want to make this about that jack butt of a coach but yes every team needs a skilled winger. Having a bunch of defensive minded forwards never works. You need scoring.

He's all about him. No one needs that on their team and it's why he has never been able to find a permanent place.</div></div>
Torts is a complete clown, so I wouldn’t be using him as an example of anything other than being a jack butt. We have a team full of defensive minded forwards who are backcheck champs. We can use a “cherry picker” because we need goals.

I'm just explaining why someone might describe him as such. I actually really liked him here in Columbus and still resent that he was traded for Dzingel in 2019. But he is the definition of all tools, no toolbox. Skates fast but has no idea where he's going.

I've said this to another Pitt ACGM but, I don't think Pitt will get more than the 3rd they gave up for Smith in the 1st place.
If Vegas adds it's probably a roster player like Dorofeyev who might get waived anyway to make room for Smith so that Pitt gets first dibs

6 more years of DUBAS and list of things to expect
I'll bite;
1.) Rutherford tried going to toughness route in 2018, it completely destroyed this team. I'd rather outscore the opponent than try to out-muscle them. How is the Reaves signing going Brad?
2.) Karlsson is 81st percentile in xgoals against. He is playing very good defensively. Graves is 57th percentile, not great but passable for 4.5MM and this is his low, he will likely rebound.
3.) Jarry is currently 4th in the NHL in GSAX 5v5. So far so good.
4.) Eller, Acciari, DOC, have all been good signings.
5.) Undersized players can still contribute and be very valuable. I don't get the hate?
6.) Why are you against analytics? It is a great way to understand players in a vacuum but it does disregard emotions (which can be important)
7.) This might be valid. I can't explain why this team isn't winning. They look like Edmonton before the Oilers broke out. There might be too many cooks in the kitchen but that is extremely speculative.
Honestly I'm ok with what is going on. The Pens have 3 cups that I recall watching and 5 in my lifetime. That's more than I can say for basically every other franchise.
