Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyTownUSA69</b></div><div>Ya, everything I’ve read the last 2 years says the Pens think he can be a top 4 D. And they have no problem putting him in the 2nd pairing when there is an injury or to give someone a rest. He’s isnt given sheltered minutes either. Last year he played 14 minutes a game and in 2018-19 he played almost 17 minutes a game(16:41). So I don’t know why they signed Ceci and traded for Matheson. I thought for sure he’d be our 3rd pairing LHD, or RHD. Everyone was screaming last year, fans and analysts for him to replace JJ on the right side 3rd pairing last year. He plays the Right-side too, just as well. And I read that his 1.1M contract was a reward cause the Pens organization thinks a lot of him. But he’s perfect as a 7th D, I guess. Seeing he plays both sides and they trust him. I would like to see him actually get a fair shot though.</div></div>
Yeah I completely agree, like I only watch the pens occasionally but he also has super strong underlying defensive metrics. Truly no idea why they signed Ceci when Riikola could do that job infinitely better.

Year 2
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyTownUSA69</b></div><div>I don’t think the Pens have much need for J.Donskoi. I personally think he’s overpaid. And the Pens organization likes Riikola. Its why they rewarded him this year with the 1.1M contract. He plays both the LHD and RHD just as well. And is perfect 7th D. He can slide into the 2nd or 3rd pairing nicely on either side. And is solid Defensively and has a good offensive touch too. Since coming over from Russia, he’s put up solid numbers the last two years in limited ice time.</div></div>
Yeah that's super fair, I'm a big fan of Riikola. Not sure why PIT signed so many guys on the backend

Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyTownUSA69</b></div><div>Wait till Stars fans get a hold of this deal. I recently did an ACGM with Dennis Gurianov coming back to Pens. I did McCann, who is 24 years old, and back to back 35 point seasons, and a 2nd round pick, and they were outraged..lol. I thought it was an overpay. And so did many Pens fans!! But apparently they love Gurianov in Dallas and his one good year..lol.
Sorry, I did McCann and a 2nd round pick for Gurianov and M.Pysyk(a 3rd pairing or 7th-8th RHD).</div></div>
Can you blame Stars fans for being crazy about him? Gurianov is likely to be their best 1st round drafted forward since Morrow in 1997. Even since the 2006 draft, there’s been 2 players picked by Dallas who have scored 100 career NHL goals. Benn and Reilly Smith - who didn’t produce until he was traded.

I made that trade thinking it would happen at the deadline and the pens are rebuilding and Letang wants to go to a playoff team.

I would be pumped if they can get Granlund but I would try and start him as 3C and if that doesn`t work move him to Sid or Genos wing and make a midseason trade for 3C

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchMarnerElite </b></div><div>Damn that’s a really good team. I’m not sure if Pittsburgh accepts, they’d want a 1st included for Jarry. I see that Hyman, Rielly and Mikheyev are all taking discounts.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MitchMarner_16</b></div><div>you could give them all more and trade muzzin and sign a UFA LD</div></div>
Pens don’t do that deal. No need for SDA or Korshkov. Both would be just assets to trade away for us. And Ian Scott. Blah. Not T.Jarry. T.Jarry is an 25 year old, All-Star goalie signed to a 3 year 3.5M/year contract. I doubt he doesn’t bring more back in return. And that would leave a major hole for the Pens. Unless Casey DeSmith has a really good year, and in that case, he would probably be selected by Seattle in the expansion draft and be more of a reason why we would keep Jarry. I think they would just keep him unless they were getting overwhelmed by an offer.

Buyout Strategy 20
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Fafhrd</b></div><div>Edmonton needs depth and Hickey and Komarov can do that. Neal doesn't add anything, and it's financially a win for the Oilers.</div></div>
I’d disagree with that. Oilers have solid depth at the moment and Neal was scoring goals at a great rate last season before busting his foot was on pace for 30. Even being mostly pp production it’s still worth keeping around burn another year off his term then explore options next offseason. Outside of a very minor trade belief is oilers are done and set for next year.

Seattle Kraken
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyTownUSA69</b></div><div>They have to take one player from each team except Vegas. So there is gonna be 30 players taken in the draft. Some are gonna be moved to their AHL team or traded.
They can’t take an AHL player. The player has to have played in the NHL for 3 years and have 70 games played in the last 2 years to be available. All other players are exempt.</div></div>
No, you need to expose 2 forwards, 1 defenseman and 1 goalie but Seattle can select a pending UFA or an AHLer. The 70GP rule is only for the 3 (forwards and dmen) you MUST expose.
In 2017, among their 30 picks, VGK took:
-RFA Teemu Pulkkinen from Arizona (had only played 13 games that season; 49 in the past two years)
-UFA Connor Brickley from Carolina (0 GP in NHL that year, 23 in the past two)
-UFA Jean-Francois Berube (UFA that year)
-RFA Brendan Leipsic (0 GP in NHL that year, 6 in the past two)
-RFA Griffin Reinhart (0 GP in NHL that year, 29 in the past two)
We'll take the Penguins as exemple:
They protect Crosby, Malkin, Guentzel, Zucker, Rust, Kapanen, ZAR/McCann, Letang, Dumoulin, Pettersson and Jarry.
Assuming they meet exposure requirements by playing this season, they expose Tanev, Lafferty, Matheson and DeSmith.
The rest: Blueger, Angello, Jankowski, Rodrigues, Miletic, Currie, Gaudreau, Aberg, Ceci, Riikola, Lindgren, Czuczman, Ruhwedel, Trotman and Lagace can also be selected by Seattle. It's unlikely for most but they can be taken.
Only the (7-3-1) or (8-1) players cannot be drafted by Seattle. So yes, they can take an AHLer.

Reinhart and Nuge probably won't even get invited to camp honestly, guys like Stone, Barzal, Scheifele, Couturier, Stamkos, and Bergeron are far more likely to make the team. I also think Hart and Kuemper are better than Binnington

Pens trade Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HockeyTownUSA69</b></div><div>He played in the AHL last year right?? In my opinion the AHL is the 2nd best league in the World. Then the KHL. My reasoning is, b/c it’s a much closer game to the NHL than the KHL is. Liiga and The Swedish hockey league are also very good!! But for me it goes: NHL, AHL, KHL, SHL, Liiga as the top 5 pro hockey leagues.</div></div>
He played some, but he was injured for much of the season and was a healthy scratch for part of it as well. He ended up playing 39 games for the Reign. His offensive game was solid, but his defense was below-average, at best.

This is incorrect. Both teams can retain 50%. As in this instance buffalo can retain 50% then detroit can infact retain 50% of the 4m making halls cap hit 2m.

And Buffalo and Detroit are already retaining salary on 2 players. You can only retain salary on 3 players at a time. They would max both teams out of their buy-out options and retaining anymore salary on any more players in trades.</div></div>
Detroit is currently retaining on 0 players

IDK but I'd sure like to see it...even for a 9 game sample and if it doesn't work, send him back to the Q. he didn't look out of place in the scrimmage in the return to play... he's gotten bigger, stronger, and faster. I'd love to see it. if he could come in and put up 10-15 goals and just break even in corsi and maybe even help make a decent 3rd line, then it could have huge benefits...
