If Panarin isn't extended by the Jackets a year from now - 90% chance he's re-signing with the Blackhawks......
We will see, now obviously that would be out of the question if Bowman signed JVR this summer or committed long term to a top 6 LW...... Then Panarin wouldn't be back, but if Bowman tosses a 1 year deal at a guy like Kovalchuk - that would be a good indicator that Bowman plans to bring Panarin back next summer...
We will have to see......Bowman is going to have 18-20 million to spend on free agents this summer, so what he does should really give us an indication on what the future is of the Blackhawks.....
It's going to be a very interesting summer for Bowman and the Blackhawks, perhaps franchise altering.......

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MikeyVC97</b></div><div>The Bolland for Hossa deal is perfect sense. It's basically a logistics trade. Both players will be on LTIR this year, however, Arizona would like the deal because Hossa's contract gets them to the cap floor for 3 seasons as opposed to Bolland's 1 year. Plus Hossa is only owed 1 mil in cash for the next 3 years = 3 mil total whereas Bolland is owed 5.5 in cash for one season. So Zona saves actual cash while helping their cap floor problem.</div></div>
No it's not....
Hossa's contract doesn't prevent the Hawks from spending Hossa's cap hit this summer..

<strong>Can LTIR be used in the off-season?
Yes, LTIR can be used in the off-season while the 10% off-season cushion is active. LTIR in the off-season is calculated using the basic equation outlined above, which permits a team to exceed the off-season salary cap. To use off-season LTIR the team must provide doctors proof that the player in question will continue to be injured at the beginning of the regular season for 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days.</strong>

Tavares
The Hawks aren't signing Tavares, it makes no sense, he would never sign with a team to play 2nd line C, the Hawks already have Schmaltz and the last thing the Hawks need is another 10 million dollar cap it......... Schmaltz and Debrincat need to be signed too, so the Hawks are going to need cap space for that...
Also, Hossa has value to a team that wants a 4.275 salary cap coupon.... I would want a 2nd round pick for that, or use him as a trade sweetener....
Hossa's status doesn't affect the Hawks cap situation at all - Bowman can spend Hossa's cap hit this summer so Hossa's contract is irrelevant... The Hawks can go 10% over the cap this summer and Hossa's going on LTIR the first day of the regular season so there is no need to trade Hossa, unless a team wants to give up something nice for that "cap coupon"...

No one proposed that...
Crawford & #27 for #11 & 12 would be fair.... Maybe the Hawks toss in something else, but it's close..
All I know is the Islanders are looking for a legitimate starting goalie and several rumor mills have floated Corey Crawford's (and Cory Schneider) name(s)........ And being how valuable to the Hawks Crawford is, I just can't see Bowman moving Crawford (in a package) for anything less than those 2 first round picks.
Besides, if the Islanders are truly interested in Crawford you bet they're going to do their due diligence.

I could care less about Ho-Sang - he's not the major piece of the deal - picks #11 & 12 are...
Crawford & #27 for #11 & 12 would be fine with me - they can keep Ho-Sang..
I would just like to see the Hawks walk out of the draft with 3 of the top 12 players in this draft and if it costs Crawford I'd be fine with that...... That's why you swing a deal with Carolina for Faulk, and if Bowman takes Darling along with him I think the price will be a bit lower..... Then you go and sign a guy like Carter Hutton and a duo of Darling/Hutton I think would be alright..

I think re-signing Panarin as a UFA was Stan's plan all along.
Panarin seems to like the NHL in general - he's had a smile on his face since he got here... I find it hard to believe Panarin would turn down an opportunity to be reunited with Kane...
If it matters many said the same thing about Saad "oh Saad will never be back".......... We all know Bowman wants his players back, sometimes they're too old when he gets them back but Panarin is only 26 - he has plenty of miles left on him.... And honestly, I don't think Bowman would have made the Panarin/Saad trade if Bowman didn't think he had an opportunity to bring him back 2 years later (2019)..
If Panarin is there come July 1st, 2019 Bowman will absolutely try to sign him...

I think Kovalchuk would do just as well as Panarin playing opposite of Kane...... And on a 1 year deal that opens up the possibility of bringing Panarin back next summer....
Look, as an individual I don't like Kovalchuk either - but the guy is still a very good player and the Hawks need a legitimate top 6 LW......... What do you propose? sign van Riemsdyk to a 6 year deal?? lol...... The Hawks need to keep cap space open to sign Schmaltz and DeBrincat (both of whom are going to want 4+ on their next contract)....
And I don't know what's wrong with Ho-Sang - yea, he has attitude problems but he's a low risk high reward player.....
Look at the long term outlook with that roster....... The Hawks would have like 35,000,000 to play with next summer..... They could get DeBrincat & Schmaltz both signed-long term.... They would also have an opportunity to sign Panarin long-term...... Bowman could set this team up for another decade of contending...

Crawford is invaluable to the Hawks, but if the Hawks can walk away with 3 of the top 12 players in this deep draft then I think it would be worth it - it would be an excellent move for the future - but that would be the price for me to pull the trigger.

I don't know why people keep on trying to throw Hossa into deals when Hossa doesn't handcuff Bowman at all......... Bowman CAN INDEED spend Hossa's cap hit this summer.. IF a team wants Hossa they're going to have to give up assets because Hossa is basically 4.275 coupon against the cap and that has value to a team....
I would want a 2nd round pick for Hossa at least..

So yea, no need to trade Hossa. But if a team wants him to circumvent the cap floor then I'm sure Bowman would want something of real value back..
Hossa is not a "cap dump"...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rangersandislesfan</b></div><div>Whoever it is, they'd probably need to add. How much they add depends on who the d-man they're getting back is. IMO they could move him for picks/prospects instead, cause they are (or at least they should/will be) rebuilding.</div></div>
A rebuild is out of the question.... I know many are praying for that but the Hawks aren't anywhere close to a rebuild..... Look, they had one bad season - they were the best team in the west last (regular) season.... They had one of there better regular seasons last year...
The problem with this team was that Bowman didn't have the cap space to make the improvements he needed to make last summer...
Bowman is going to have 18-20 mill in cap space this summer and the improvements Bowman needs to make won't be that much...... The Hawks need some veteran help - that's all.... I mean look at the Hawks defense. How were the Hawk supposed to win with that? then Crawford went down...... Look, the Hawks played 18 rookies last season - it wasn't pretty... Now combine all of that with the fact most of the Hawks vets just had down seasons - that was a recipe for disaster... Last season was the "worst case scenario"...
The Hawks are good for at least 2 more seasons..... If Bowman makes the signings he needs to (and I think he will) and the Hawks still don't make the playoffs - then we can talk "rebuild" but until then this season was nothing more than a "forced anomaly".... Bowman was handcuffed last summer so the Hawks were forced to trade away decent players and replace them with bargain bin UFA's and rookies that played like ROOKIES...
I have total faith the Hawks will turn it around next season.... The Hawks have the talent - they have all the right top-end players - they just don't have the role players they need..

how much would it take for COL to trade up at the draft? (Kotkaniemi)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>moli92</b></div><div>COL has the 16th overall pick in the 2018 draft. However, I have my eye on Jesperi Kotkaniemi. most places ive looked have him ranked in the 10-20 range (some even have him in the top 10), and I would love him on the Avs (draws comparisons to Mikko Rantanen: JK had 29 points in 57 games in Liiga as a 17 year old and MR had 28 points in 56 games in Liiga as an 18 year old. Both are Finnish forwards who had similar production in the same league in their draft years and i think MR could help mentor JK a few years down the line).
since Kotkaniemi is one of the few top centremen available, he may be picked earlier than draft rankings suggest.
So, assuming the Avs were to trade up at the draft for Kotkaniemi:
1) how high of a pick should they aim for to land kotkaniemi?
and
2) how much would it cost them? (they would swap their 16th overall for the __th overall pick, so what would they need to add in addition to that 16th overall pick for the trade to work?)</div></div>
If you want to move up a couple of slots it usually costs a 3rd round pick to do it....... So your pick and your 3rd round pick.....Of course that's only to move up from like 15th to 13th..... And that obviously depends on who teams have their eye on..... Moving up from like 8th to 4th would probably cost #8 overall and next seasons first round pick.

As a Hawks fan I'm fine at #8, obviously it would have been great if the Hawks got one of those top 3 picks but the Hawks will get a fantastic player at #8 (probably Evan Bouchard) and I'm fine with that..
I would really like to see Bowman maybe acquire another pick or 2 if possible, or package Nashville's First with a guy like Anisimov to move up..
Either way the Hawks will end up with a definite top 4 and hopefully top 2 defenseman... If the Hawks can get another Seabrook or Keith out of this draft the lack of success this season would be worth it....
I would love to see Bowman swing a deal for Bobby Ryan along with Ottawa's #4 overall for Nashville's pick and something else - I think it would really be worth it.
