Philadelphia offseason
Also, no offense to Claude Giroux or Farabee, but I'd like to see Lindblom on that top line with Couturier, he was leading scorer before his diagnosis. If he can return to that form or even close to it hes a 30 goal scorer and needs more than 3rd line minutes. Also would like to see Giroux and Frost together, moving G down would give him some more rest as he gets older and putting him with young Frost would be a cool way to bring the rookie in and have a mentor in G to show him along, similar play styles so it would be neat. They had some chemistry and played together in the short time Frost was called up this season. All in all I think this is pretty realistic. They might try to move JVR, I think they bring Elliot back, but I don't see them being big players in free agency. Cap situation is going to necessitate promoting from within and they've got guys who can step in and play.

Philadelphia offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>I can see how it hurts. But PHI clearly wants to move him for some reason.</div></div>
Some reason...watching him as a fan when he's not scoring is frustrating, I can't imagine being the GM and realizing the guy before you gave him 7mil a season to score 25 goals in like 17 games and take the other 65 nights off. He's like Wayne Simmonds, he'd get hot, score 6 goals in 4 games and then go cold, but Simmonds brought more to the team than just scoring. He brought other elements that made him noticeable even when he didn't find the back of the net. JVR is not physical, fast, doesn't really forecheck, doesn't do much in the defensive zone, so literally if he doesn't tip a puck in from 4 or 5 feet out you wouldn't know he played most nights. I love JVR, super nice guy (which I think is also frustrating because you see his size and imagine if he was more aggressive and played with a little snarl how he'd be a great PWF) and I'm glad he got paid, but the Covid Cap situation is really making that contract a bit too much to deal with while improving the team. Like you said, there are plenty of young players ready for bigger roles, so allocating 7 mil for a bottom 6 FWD really isn't adding much value.

How do I get me some Kassian
NAK is the guy on the Flyers who is like Kassian, smaller and less insane and intimidating, but he's younger, faster, more skilled and cheaper. Him alone in the deal Edmonton should say yes. Adding everything else on top of it is just a little excessive

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Silkysmooth42</b></div><div>Its completely crazy because its just wrong
Why downgrade Kase to Virtanen while retaining and giving up a 4th
Why Get rid of debrusk for a later pick to sign a worse player
Why sign Dillon when you already traded for Ghost
Why sign Sheahan (who cant score) when we have TOO MANY bottom 6 forwards
Not a good ACGM sorry man</div></div>
Is this a Chiarelli burner account? You must have some sort of professional hockey management experience for criticizing this guy so hard. Why sign Dillon if you trade for Ghost? Ugh, IDK, because theyre completely different defensemen and not redundant. Ghost would replace Krug's style of play and Dillon play shutdown defensively? Not a B's fan so idk about how good DeBrusk is, I just know he's a top-6 winger so I'd agree Virtanen/Granlund 1 for 1 don't compare, but adding both balances out your lineup a little better than what you have now, which is pretty much 1 GREAT line and then not much else which is Boston's biggest flaw

Swap Bellows for Wahlstrom and Eberle for Nelson and I'd say thats really fair. You can't count Pullock as a huge part of the deal because its just his rights, WPG still has to pay him

Winnipeg Fans Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptJosef</b></div><div>Patrick needs a change of scenery?! The guy has a migraine disorder. It's not as though a trade sorts that out. We're just going to have to be patient with him, frankly he has zero trade value right now.</div></div>
Migraine disorder is part of the problem, but he's also going to have problems with fans and media in this town which will attribute to his stress and confidence. I think it's unfair, but seeing Lindblom return from cancer and play put the writing on the wall for Nolan. Did you hear the organization praising him, his teammates saying anything about him? No, he's on social media posting about buying a new mattress when his team is winning an OT game in the playoffs. That shows you how invested he is in his teammates and the organization and they see that. I bet you anything he gets shipped somewhere this summer.

If I remove JVR, would you be interested in a package with Sanheim instead of Ghost for either Laine or Ehlers? I really want the Flyers to target one of them this offseason and I would be fine parting with Sanheim to get them. Myers is a deal breaker

because Philly has enough young talent to replace him with in Lindblom, Konecny, Farabee, Frost, Aube-Kubel who are all needing more ice time. I get it, you don't agree or dont like Voracek but don't be a crumb. I guess young talent you wouldn't know much about if you root for buffalo because outside of Eichel none of your draft picks pan out

Buffalo would be foolish to turn that down unless they have zero care about winning games. You think 1 year of Marcus Johansson is greater than the value of Jakub Voracek? Say what you want about Jake, he's still a Top-6 RW on about ANY team in this league.

Patrick is a former #2 overall pick and needs a change of scenery and hes from WPG, as does Ghost. He could return to a PP1 quarterback with 60 point potential if given more ice time with a different coaching staff. Laughton is a useful top-9 fwd, JVR could replace some of Laine's PP production, and Zamula is a very highly ranked D prospect, which last I checked the Jets are in need of. Two first rounders...I get your point but I still thought its enough quality within the quantity haha. What it it was Sanheim instead of Ghost?

Throwing ideas out there
Love how people still want to send Laughton back to the 4th line next year. Guy is arguably the best winger in the top-6 right now, but he'd be super useful playing 8 mins a night as 4C. Laughton is evolving guys, get on board and give him the credit he deserves.

The Flyers gave up 1 goal to each of Tampa, Boston, and Washington, and their top line and PP did not record a goal. They can defend ANYONE, and Montreal has nobody. Pretty sure if Ovechkin, Point, Kucherov, Pastrnak and the like couldn't solve the Flyers, Max Domi and Philip Danault aren't gonna cut it.

Thoughts on this lineup
I like it a lot actually. Better than moving Laughton back to 3C because that 2nd line is untouchable. Maybe Jake on 3rd line gets JVR going, becauses Grant alone is not enough to drive that line.

Yup we see you. Gave STUPID money to Panarin and Trouba who by the time your young core is useful they'll be on the decline. I still think Rangers have too many bad contracts for even a 1st overall pick to overcome and turn them into a contender. I don't think any of Chytil, Kakko, Kravstov are going to pan out the way they were originally projected to. Do love KAndre Miller though...

Abs fans what do you think
Trade a guy you just signed plus a 1st for a 7th, and move a #2 overall pick to 4C? Also, how does SJS have the money for Hayes if they let Pavelski walk? Plus Zacha ahead of Laughton and Patrick? I would rather play Rubstov than sign Zacha, but that might be a bias for how much I hate everything NJD related, and think their team still sucks even with the moves they made. If they get 80 points this season I would be surprised

Yea I had no idea if that was a sour negotiation or not, couldn't remember if it had been difficult. Just a guy I looked at and based on the contract, I thought maybe that's a guy who DET would be willing to part with for a major piece on their back end that they seem to be lacking.

I just think the sense is that the team is going to move on from him. Sanheim is going to play top-4 minutes. Provorov is 1st pair, so do we really want to allocate 4.5mil for a 3rd pair defender, even if he is the PP quarterback? I agree I would ideally like to keep him, but with the moves of Niskanen, Braun, Fletcher saying Myers is playing 3rd pair and he's earned it, that makes me think that Ghost slots in as a 5th D-man currently. I think in the right move, he'd be expendable, but it would cost somebody a decent price to pry him away.

Lets hope MB isnt big dumb and actually gets someone on D
As a Flyers fan, that is as realistic of a proposal for Ghost as I've seen from a MTL fan, though I don't know what they would do on PP1 without Ghost on the point. Not that the PP couldn't use a tweak or improvement, but Ghost's shot is something that they don't have a replacement for on the current roster, and certainly Provorov, Sanheim, Myers, Niskanen could play the point on the PP, but that would be a big step back in the point blast and elusiveness that Ghost brings. He also keeps pucks in at the blueline sometimes that he has no business saving, which is important to keep pressure on the PKers.

Provorov is going to get more. His agent apparently is pushing for $8mil, which I know is his job and he won't get it, but starting it that high I don't think there's any way he signs long term for anything less than around $7. Also Laughton is also low-balled, think he gets more than that. Then your cap is in serious trouble. I'm worried these RFA's are going to blow this up this offseason. Chuck is going to have some decisions to make. I don't know if he could go back if he'd still retain that $$ in the Niskanen-Gudas trade, I don't know if they were planning on 83mil, and now the 81.5 number is going to be hard to handle without making some more moves

Reminder to all the Buffalo fans thinking we have a plethora of centers to throw away in Philly...Claude Giroux has played LW for the past 2 seasons. Nolan Patrick has not shown he's a Top-6 player yet, so we are looking for a 2C in Hayes, slotting Patrick at 3C until he's ready for a larger role. And Couturier, don't get me started on that nonsense. He's not going anywhere, Selke-quality 75 point 30 goal 1C at $4.3? Best contract in the NHL

Scenario 2 - Hayes Walks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MGabes19</b></div><div>lol totally agree with Kunitz's face. And I certainly agree that it would be better to have a home-grown 4RW, but it seems like the brass has made it known that they are looking for 3RW/4RW. I am hopeful that they can sign a decent player (low key hoping they sign Panik, but I know the hockey world has very differing opinions on him), but I wouldn't be surprised by an "experienced veteran" signing, i.e., Kunitz. Let's just pray that this scenario does not play out hahahaha</div></div>
I wouldn't mind a shorter term vet, like a Donskoi, but I don't want to add a winger long term unless it's a slam dunk kind of signing. If Hayes would sign, we've already got a logjam at FWD in the next year or two, and ideally you wouldn't want Frost, Farabee and co. coming up and playing 4th line minutes long term. I like the Spezza idea of getting a shorter-term placeholder for a Morgan Frost/Nolan Patrick in behind Couturier, but I worry about his quality at this stage being an issue. Don't want to waste another 2 years middling in mediocrity and flirting with a playoff spot. Want this team to take a step forward and they should given the young talent and Hart in net

You came at my post with your backhanded snide undertone buddy, I'm just pointing out that you shouldn't be in a position to talk considering you've had the best goalie in the world (at times) over the last decade almost and haven't sniffed a cup. The Flyers at least made it to the Finals in 2010 behind Michael Leighton...who did they embarass in the ECF again? I can't remember? Enjoy the next 7 years of Shea Weber bud
