Dubois if Cup Final goes past June 22nd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>If he's a future first line player, is Roy a future first line player as well? What makes Kulich a first line player? His play in the WJC? His play in the AHL?
What has he "proven" at this point? FWIW: These are genuine questions, I'm not saying he's not, I just don't understand why everyone is so sure he is.</div></div>
Kulivh dominate everywhere he played. Roy was great everywhere, but wasn’t the powerhouse Kulich is

He’s a stud. Future first liner but I don’t see the point of moving potentially Demidov for him

Wahlstrom cost at max a third. Holmstrom cost around a second. You can remove Barron

Punishing PLD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SaucyDog</b></div><div>Gibson's numbers have been miserable the last few years. With his cap hit and remaining term I can't imagine Anaheim is going to get much more for him. If they could, he'd already be playing elsewhere.
I could see a team requiring another asset to take on PLD without retention, but we're still talking about a 25-year-old power forward. There is always someone who thinks they can be the one to "unlock" players like PLD. See: Rob Blake in 2023.
As for Reichel/Kaliyev, I'm curious what you think is off there. Both have shown flashes but are inconsistent. Maybe LA needs to throw in a late pick, but LR has only played like 2 months of really good hockey so far in his career.</div></div>
Gibson is still worth a first despite his bad numbers
PLD could bounce back, but even if he does, he still isn’t worth 8,5m. It would take a superstar to dump him.
Kaliev is older, a worst draft pick and a worst defensively. LA pretty much admitted his time is up there. Chicago loves Reichel and would want to keep him for the future

A top 4 RD, wich we don’t have. If we target any top 10 pick, I think Seattle might be interested in Matheson and other pieces

Getting there
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garitjax</b></div><div>Not quite sure how that is wild or funny. Zegras has produced more in his first few years than any of the others. Terry didn't really break out until 24+ and Z started having similar production at 21. Carlsson easily projects as a corner stone piece but Z has potential as a PPG 1st liner. McTavish has potential but the offensive upside isn't as high and frankly his defensive game and penalties aren't any better than Z at the moment. Zell and Minty had good seasons but they're stills a ways away from being real difference makers. It was quite clear that Z stirs the drink the is the Ducks this now.
I can only assume as a Mtl fan you've believed the nonsense the media spat out for clicks that Z is available and is somehow not a player verbeek wants. That he's the next Drouin or some nonsense. He's not, nor is he in danger of it. He's done everything management has asked of him and both verbeek and Cronin were quite complimentary of him at the end if the year.</div></div>
Wow, you really support your claim. You know you’re talking about the worst forward defensively in the entire nhl lol. He didn’t even score at a .5 ppg this year. He doesn’t have PPG potential (at least not safe PPG potential), he won’t score more than 70, and for a forward this bad defensively, that’s quite bad lol. I would take the second OA pick in the last draft, the third OA pick three years ago, a 70 pts scorer good defensively and the second best prospect in hockey WAY before a 70 pts offensive only forward.
Your assumptions are quite false, I don’t think Verbeek has the guts to sacrifice jersey selling for a better team. I don’t want him on Montreal, as he would cost a superstar price when he is a second liner with no defensive skills whatsoever.
I can only assume that since you’re a Ducks fan, you believe you’re always right and you know everything that happens in the team. You probably see in the media how good Zegras is and not stop one second at his defensive play and his mid season.

Next Year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>I don't think either of those things are necessarily true, but likely the only way Montreal would make a trade for Dubois is:
-that there is retention so that he doesn't have a higher cap hit than Caufield and Suzuki
-Montreal sends someone like Anderson the other way
-Montreal isn't giving up any quality futures
LA should just buy Dubois out.</div></div>
Dubois is a third liner getting paid 8m. He has as much negative value as superstar have positive value

Montreal doesn’t want Dubois. He is one of the biggest cap dump in the league. It would cost Byfield just to move him

Hire me as the maple leafs GM
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>How can you say someone who had 16 points in 15 playoff games last year and 49 points in 54 playoff games in his career has been invisible his entire career? He is literally almost a ppg player in the playoffs, that isn't invisible by any stretch of the imagination.
The playoffs are heavily reliant on good goaltending and great team D, that is how Montreal went to the cup series in 2021, it's how 90% of true contenders build their team, and it's why you see teams like Toronto and Edmonton get put out early by teams like LA, Montreal and Boston (teams that out work them even though they have less high end skilled players). When the playoff style changes to be more run and gun type than defense oriented, that is when I will stop blaming D and G for letting down a team, BTW that will also be the day that the Stanley Cup Playoffs will have been ruined forever by pansies that would rather se a 10-9 game than watching and understanding what playoff hockey is meant to be, a battle of attrition, skill and pure will power to play through broken bones or appendicitis.</div></div>
Marner score some points here and there, but he isn’t good. He is invisible.
Toronto has had a very good D in the past 2 years. It’s not the problem
