<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Schmidt is bad and a waste of 5.9mil, especially as Ellis is on LTIR
That defense just is poor. Drysdale on RD3? Belpedio? Investing almost 11mil in Schmidt and Walker?
Jarnkrot? Zegras isnt a C, hes more of a LW. Youre going to play 3rd/4th line muckers Jarnkrot/Joseph/DiGiuseppe/Lycksell over any number of younger better guys?
Yopu've made alot of moves to move up in draft and then turn around and trade 3 1sts, a 2nd rights to Zavagrin and 3 players for Zegras? Thats a laughably OVER offer.
No Andrae, Tuomaala, Attard, but Belpedio, and a bunch of muckers?
Not buying out Johansen and Petersen and wasting almost 7mil in cap by keeping them in minors?
Just not sure what youre doing, trading alot of fairly young assets and picks for middling players and then going all in on Zegras? Seems like a lot of muck and downgradesd across the entire team just to get your hands on Zegras. If Zegras at 5.7mil for 2 yrs is worth that package he must be MacDavid.</div></div>
Schmidt can be 50% retained and flipped at the deadline for assets. If Andrae shows he is ready he can come up then.
Jankrok is a cap dump to help inflate Laughtons price. And that D core is the same we had this year minus Zamula and Staal for Schmidt and Belpedio. Di Guiseppe and Lycksell are 13th and 14th forwards. You really want to call up younger players to ride the bench??
Zegras Center stats in his first two seasons put him in elite company. Only a handful of centers, which is what he played his first two years, have put up two 60 pt U22 seasons, and they all turned out to be elite. Zegras trade is a lot of assets. None of them are Top 10 picks though.
Why would you buy out Peterson and waste cap space the following year when you don’t need the space this year and you could bury him in the minors? We already will have enough dead cap in Hayes, Atkinson, and possibly Johansen. Do you want to end up in Minnesotas cap situation? Seems like a smart strategy.

Offseason deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>Great point. My evaluation of Samuelsson is- big body, not particularly physical, I've heard him called "the cobra" because of his long reach and poke checking, looks to pass on zone exits, average skater so he doesn't carry, more defensively inclined. He was a perfect partner to let dahlin do his thing, but the magic went away. I would prefer...sigh...again...a physical right shot top 4 defensive d, if that's available for Samuelsson (plus depending on value), I'm in. Otherwise, trading him for a second would be a hard no.</div></div>
So what your asking for in return is Risto?

I see Schmidt, especially at 5.9 for TWO years, as horrewndous bad value, and close to a cap dump. Even at 50% Schmidt has another year left, at some point you want long term vets to play with the kids in PHI, thats not schmidt.
PHI doeasn;t add a 3rd and WPG does, is closer.
Just think you've taken too many cap hits (kulak, schmidt, johanssen and dreiger), with 3 of them having term left</div></div>
I agree with you that I don’t think Tanev got enough but us fans don’t determine the value of the players. The GMs do. Schmidt has one year left after this one. He will have value at less then 3 mil if we retain half at next deadline. Especially after the defense whisperer gets ahold of him.
I did take quite a few cap dumps but that is to maximize returns in trades. The Flyers are “rebuilding” you do that by collecting as many assets as possible.

I would love for them to get a 1st for Walker but with what Tanev went for I’d be shocked if they did unless they take back a bad contract or send Walker with Seeler and get a first that way. The rumored ask of a 1st and a 2nd for Walker + Seeler seems unrealistic after that Tanev trade.
Schmidt + 1st for Walker I’d be happy with. Let Brad Shaw work his magic with Schmidt then flip him at 50% retained next deadline for another good return.

Sens aren't trading for yet another goalie without first fixing their defensive issues. Hard to evaluate the current goalies whem the team in front of them doesn't give them a chance in hell.
I also doubt that the front office wants to part with either of Greig or Pinto. Both are highly valued.</div></div>
What do you think the defensive issues are? System or players? On paper the d core seems like they would be pretty solid.

Filling holes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RyanMclovin</b></div><div>Why would Edmonton pay two firsts to be in the same situation?</div></div>
They wouldn’t be in the same situation. Peterson expires in one year so they could either buy him out and be on the hook for a lot less years or they could bury him for a year then when Drai contract expires they have more cap space to build better team around him and McJesus which could be part of their pitch. They also get a d for this year that would help them on their run.

Tuomaala has been really good, so has Zamula, add 5th maybe, and no need to add ellis in there, (he'll go on LTIR anyways and NASH will view his inclusion as a negative), and McDonaugh at almost 7mil and his age doesn;t carry that kind of value</div></div>
Fair enough, I really think McDonagh would be a great mentor/vet partner for Drysdale and the entire d core. Having played for Torts before is a plus as well. 2.5 years of McDonagh is a good time line too where he won’t block a potential first round pick dman from the upcoming draft.

Just because a few of us want to sell him doesn't mean everyone does. Sure he has had rough games, but every goalie does. I'm not saying Hart is a game changer who would fix Buffalo in seconds, because that would be lie. I'm just saying that Hart is a valuable player to our team and doesn't have negative value.</div></div>
I’d be perfectly okay keeping Hart. Only move him in these because we’re “rebuilding” and have a strong pipeline of goalies for once.
