SO what's the story. This guy had 30 goals last year right? Is this a Beleskey situation where he cashed in on one good year?

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HadesOfSoCal</b></div><div>I understand rebuilding, it can suck. But Bob Murray does it terribly. He doesn't trade for young assets, he brings in old useless 4th liners and doesn't give time to young players who deserve enough. Comtois should definitely be in the lineup over someone like ****ing Rowney or Deslauriers. And why do we still have Manson? He should be gone by now. There were plenty of teams interested but Bob Murray is such an idiot and thought it would be worth it to keep him over guys like Montour and Theodore.
Obviously it's painful to watch a team rebuild, but when the team does absolutely nothing and makes their fans rot, it's absolutely unenjoyable. I'd rather be a mediocre wildcard team for a while than sit and wait for 5+ years to actually watch some enjoyable ****ing hockey. At this point, we're watching paint dry. We're losing fans and losing money. Murray needs to go and Madden needs to take the reigns.
Gibson's prime is going to be wasted on a team who's purposely sucking unless Murray does something smart ( which guess what, he won't )</div></div>
Respectfully I am going to disagree. You don't want MC playing the role of Rowney or Deslauriers. If they are not in a position to play to their strengths then they should be playing elsewhere. There are roles on the roster that need to be filled. Not everyone can be a scorer. Nor do we want our future scorers to develop the habits of a grinder. Its the same reason we have Manson. We need guys to play those defensive roles. I imagine that we waived Djoos over Larsson specifically because we needed to keep someone who can play PK. There is a reason why a team like Toronto struggles as much as they do. I doubt you would see much change in the direction of the team once Madden takes over either. Also looking at the Vegas expansion draft in hindsight is the epitome of a poor assessment.

That's a strong word for a team we haven't seen healthy in like 2 years or play a game in 10 months. Imo, you add 1 legit top liner in there and there you could see improvements from multiple guys just on the extra support. Like Getzlaf not being counted on as much. Rakell having more support.

Id swap Perrault with either Tracy or Lundestrom. Id also drop retention to 800k. 2 mill to hold for 4 years is rough. 800k is is an even salary swap there. Wont be enough for CBJ fans but I think the value is there.

taxi squad Killahs
It is a viable way to bank some cap space assuming the team doesn't need to max out its roster if they can. Im not sure what the rules are in that. Id swap Mahura and Larsson and put Curran on the taxi squad. Not as much space is banked but its more likely. Also wonder if they would do that to Backes.

I feel like that is probably the best the Ducks could do. I'd rather send Lundestrom than Steel though. Ducks are giving up 2 if the top 3 centers and only replacing 1. We're not sure if Zegras can step in yet.

1. Terry is highly thought of in the Org and many feel he could become an impact player.
2. Teams need players like these. You can't ice an entire team of kids. These players have roles and you don't want the kids you mentioned playing those roles.
3. Even if the Ducks didn't need them doesn't mean they should settle for picks because the others teams don't feel like giving up first round picks to deal with their cap dumps. The Ducks are not in the business of spending money to help other teams with their cap issues. And giving up players with value for second rounders who have a low chance of actually being NHL players doesn't change that. Sorry, but the Ducks do not touch these.

So the Ducks give up 4 actually useful players and take on 2 significant cap dumps for 3 2nd round picks? Yeah not so much.

Id swap Heinen and Milano and Terry and Silf. But I think this can be a legitimately effective group. Id expect Jones to be In SD in this case though.

I'm sure hed be sheltered but those lines are probably pretty interchangeable. Getzlaf probably has the toughest match ups while the other too probably face shut sown lines based on who's playing the best

Kraptsov but it makes sense
So the Ducks give up their Number 1 D for a prospect that doesn't even crack their pitiful forward lineup and a second round pick and even take a cap dump as well. I'd say that is an easy pass for the Ducks.

I got the sense from BMs interviews that he would like to improve his forward grp. He'd probably prefer to do it by trade but I'm not sure whos out there that I could actually see BM paying for.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>csick</b></div><div>Sergachev can play both sides and is a huge upgrade on Manson. He’s a legit #2 Dman right now and I think he’s better than Fowler. As for Killorn he’s a 50pt winger and Cirelli is a 50pt elite 2 way centre</div></div>
I honestly don't watch enough Tampa games to really argue the point but looking at the numbers to me it looks like Serg is sheltered in Tampa. Something the Ducks would struggle to do. He only had 34 pts last year getting PP time with the 5th best PP in the league. Got less PK time per game than Luke Schenn. Serg had the 4th best SAT % and the most Offensive zone starts of any D who played at least 30 games for Tampa. His PPG is about equal to Fowler who had similar numbers on a much worse team. As for the other 2 that is fair but I would still consider Killorn a downgrade on wing. He doesn't have the upside that Rakell has and its not like Rakell is bad defensively. Like I said Cirelli is the big get but the other pieces don't really make sense to me. Maybe just leave it at Cirelli and Killorn for Rakell and Steel?

Adding Tyler Johnson
The Ducks writer for the Athletic has mentioned it a few time that the Ducks are interested in Johnson. But he has also hinted that he doesn't likely make any moves until the season starts and he can place Kesler on LTIR. I'd probably take Johnson for their 1st. I'd try and get some retention like we did with Backes, Especially at 4 more years. Honest I see a deal like this happening eventually.

Trades
Honestly the value looks fine but I'm not really sure why the Ducks do it. Sergachev is a great player but he's not an upgrade on Fowler or Lindholm so unless we trade one of them I don't see why we would want him. Cirelli is the big get here but we have Steel who is a year younger and may be able to be what Cirelli is, though this still is the biggest immediate update. that upgrade is countered a bit by downgrading on wing and then we have a hole in D corp for a PKing Dman. It just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense to me as a Ducks fan from a roster structure stand point.

That's fair and I'm not sure I have an answer but id look at Patches. Since he is older, makes significant money and not really someone who has significant history with the team and might be one the most desirable by other teams. If there was a single player who made sense to move I think it is him. But not being a vegas fan Id also look into who ever Tuch has the most chemistry with and move the winger who normally plays with that player as long as it isn't Stone.

Imo, best move is to make room in the top 6 for Tuch while getting back a player for the 3rd line who makes significantly less than who ever they trade. I'd also look into way to grab Haula if they can clear enough space.

Pretty sure you will need to LTIR anyone who gets injured if you want to call anyone up. That will make things difficult when guys get minor issues and are only expected out a game or so. No backup forwards either. In a year where teams might be playing 3 games in 4 nights.

With the exception of the Ducks fans who think the Ducks should tear down you are going to find that the majority are very much okay with keeping Manson. We know what he can be. He and Lindholm have proven it together. Better to hope he gets back there then trade him for scraps we don't need.
