<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Something to keep in kind that isn't shown in these trade comps is how many playoff teams had cap space and what % of their cap they had to deal with per year. A major driving force for Monahan's value is his potential cap hit being basically AHL replacement level. So many teams have so little cap space to move this year as opposed to some of the comps years.

This may be one of the toughest years for playoff teams to go get players at the TDL. Its not so bad if you have a cap dump you can send the other way but many teams have done tidy business and have neither cap space to get a 3-4-5M players nor a cap dump they could send back of equal value to offset the player coming in.

So Monahan at 950K (50% retained) is basically the only option some of these teams have if that's the type of player they want. if this TDL was transposed over another years TDL, the value probably would drop. The main driving factor for Monahan's value is probably this particular seasons circumstances. Not so much that he soooooo good.</div></div>

It is one of the reasons I included the ROR deal because it came at a premium because the salary was 25% of original. Jarnkrok also included for that reason too ($2m retained down to $1m). I guess I leave it up to readers to determine what fits and what doesn’t.

The environmental landscape (league wide cap space, availability of other centers, etc) is really hard to factor into these.

Separately, I had thought about doing one of these using just comps from a single year. For instance, my favorite year was probably 2007 (which was nuts). I’d like to make a list of all the guys that were traded that year…and the most similar player today. (Who are the modern day versions of Peter Forsberg, Chris Pronger, Keith Tkachuk, Bill Guerin, Yanic Perreault, etc)…and what it would look like today if we had that many stars moving around.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>F50marco</b></div><div>Sorry man, I disagree and have read the entire post. While there's snark there sure at one point, its totally tolerable and within the rules IMHO. No more than some of my replies to be absolutely honest. As much as its annoying as f***, "goading" at least that level isn't infraction worthy if its done within the rules.

I do believe this was more against the rules than anything he did:

And this IMHO looks like a power trip as there was clearly nothing done to cross any lines.

Listen, i prefer the mods take the onus themselves to correct the situation if there is some sort of dispute against them because 1) If I just delete everything it just looks like we're just trying to cover everything up and 2) if you were given an warning/infraction, they'd never know about it which only leaves them questioning if mods are above the law so to speak.

Honestly, just easier for everyone to get ahead of it and clear the air. Believe me, if I truly felt he was in the wrong here I'd gladly be throwing down some words but I can't in good conscience say he did anything wrong there and if anything, respectfully, you were much more in the wrong than he was.</div></div>

Finally got around to it. It's been a bad week for me and I think my emotions got ahead of me on this one, even so far as getting in my own way for getting an apology out.

In more focused news, what's the mood of the room for permanently banning user Campabee during his next infraction?
