<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HabsRafiki</b></div><div>This is not the perfect deal but it deserves more consideration than it's getting. I realized long ago that there's no point in trying to make a deal with Edmonton fans. They fall in love with their players (especially prospects) until they suddenly turn and hate their guts. Habs fans have this unfortunate trait too.

Look, Draisaitl is an excellent player with a first-line cap hit. With Lucic killing them on the cap and Puljujarvi looking like a bust, without making a move LIKE THIS (Draisaitl for a top-level player on his entry-level contract), they're going to be stuck with an imbalanced roster for a very long time. Freeing up $7M for signings and then buying out Lucic in two years would allow Holland a lot more freedom to do some magic.</div></div>

The oilers have a projected 25 million dollars in cap space for the 2020-2021 season. Trading a 50 goal scorer and a 100 point player to create an additional 7 million isn’t going to help them. As for overvaluing players, sure you could make that argument, but I don’t see how it applies in this situation.
