If Marner wanted 9.6 million it would’ve happened already.

It looks like Mr Ferris may have over reached. I find it awfully telling how he was so vocal right up until he could talk to other teams and then went silent. My guess is the big money offer sheets never came. Aho getting what he got points to GM's being far tighter than many thought. So if Marner isn't getting big money from other teams, and wants to play next year, Ferris is going to have to bend on his ask.

I agree and the beauty for Dubas is that Marner is maybe 2 million more than Aho... maybe a bit less.. so the price has been set for Marner at 10.5 tops

Just like Nylander did...right? Oh, no that actually didn't work out that way. Unfortunate precedent has already been set regardless of Aho's Offer Sheet...which by the way...That's a blessing in disguise for CAR. Last year was Aho's 1st year @ the #1C role...took his team to the conference finals...was over a point per game...and had Selke/Hart votes. DOMINANT 1st year as a #1C.

NYLANDER MAKES LESS THAN 7 MILLION! Dubas won that negotiation in a huge way. I just can't understand how blind people are on here. Nylander has put up points at a much better rate than Skinner and he got 9 million a year. Hayes, isn't even close to as good as Nylander, makes over 7. Nylander gets less than 7 and its a travesty. You guys are hilarious. Marner wanted Matthews money and no one will give it to him so now what? Sit out an entire year?

Marner has until essentially game 1 to sign and if he doesn't he misses the season. The Leafs can't afford to give him a prorated salary because of their cap situation.

You can't compare (2) other KNOWN...REALLY bad contracts...and say...Hey I've got the least smelliest dump out of these three! Kucherov signed a $9.5M deal...then scored 128 points too! There are good deals and bad deals. When Nylander signed...it was a jump ball...then he scored 27 points. Can he come bounce back? ABSOLUTELY, but it's impossible to think he's lived up to his ~$7M deal with 27 points to show for it. I will admit though, his playoffs we a little better than his regular season play...still not $7M good, but better.

If he truly has until Day 1...like you say...then Marner has all the cards...just like Nylander. AND YES, Dubas messed him twice with Nylander. If you're going to cave (which he did) then at least do it early enough were you don't mess up the players development...27 points (or .5ppg) couldn't have been the hope for last year's total.

Nylander would wait until Dec 1, Marner can't if he wants to A) Play this season and B) Play in TO, he has sign before game 1 or he sits or gets traded. Nylander waited until the last minute and then called Dubas to make the deal. He caved not Dubas. Dubas wins and he knows it and he lets everyone else just talk.
