Franchise altering
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shaners79</b></div><div>Yeah,tough decision to make but Brady's is the type of player we need to push forward.</div></div>
Exactly. Brady would be an excellent linemate to play alongside Jack. If Jack doesn't improve in the face-off circle, Brady is one of the best non-center forwards at winning face-offs. His grit (number of hits) would help on a line with Jack and a RW. Bratt, Hischier, and Meier need to stay together. Haula needs to center the 3rd line again imo. For Tkachuk, not sure if a package of 2024 1st (top 5 protected), Mercer, and Marino would not be enough, just right, or too much.

The type of dman we need
I was looking at stats recently and was thinking if hits and/or blocked shots could be a factor for the defense. As of today, Severson has more blocked shots than any of the devils d-man thus far this season, and Graves has the same amount of blocked shots as Siegenthaler (who has the most for the Devils thus far). Carrier would be great (top 10 in blocked shots among d-man atm). Zadorov would deliver allot of hits, but does not have the best stats as far for blocked shots and Tanev is the inverse. Wish we could get someone like Hanifin or like Connor Murphy (CHI) or bring back Adam Larsson. But, those guys will probably cost an arm and leg and some of them are probably not up for a trade. Hopefully, Miller will play soon and help the defense. Side Note: any updates on his status?

Odd Ones Out
Meant to do it for the off-season - just wanted to do a quick one while on my mind. We do have a surplus on O and D. If we were to keep Holtz and Mercer, and Bratt signs long-term, - I think Sharangovich would be the one out of the top 6. I was stuck between Walsh and Muk as far as defenseman goes. Meier would be great fit for this lineup.

If Slaf goes first Teams want to draft Wright
I think the Devils could use some more physicality on both offense and defense (I feel they need a stay-at-home right-handed defenseman - one reason I thought about Lindstrom from Detroit). That's why I thought about taking Lucic with M. Tkachuk. I would hate to lose Mercer, but M. Tkachuk is becoming one the best forwards in the league and would come at a price to get him. As far as Detroit, I was at a toss-up among Bertuzzi, Rasmussen, and Zadina. Zadina getting a fresh start, or Rasmussen if moved to LW since Hughes and Hischier have the top center positions locked down for the foreseeable future. As far as Ottawa, I forgot about Shane Pinto in Ottawa's farm system and having Stutzle and Norris.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PaulieWalnuts</b></div><div>Both teams decline the Tkachuk trade, doesn't make any sense for either party. (and honestly, a top 6 forward with center capabilities, one of the leagues better top 4 D and 6OVA pick is probably an overpayment for Tkachuk).
Bratt gets at least 2m more AAV and preferably some more term to go with that contract.
Marchment gets way more than that in FA, at least 4m AAV I'd think. I think he's a good player to target though, I'm a fan of his game.
I don't mind trading Johnsson for that return, though maybe Montreal isn't the best fit for him.
Nor do I mind trading Zacha for a late 1st rd pick either, but I fail to see the point in including Kuokkanen here.
Kuokkanen has some unrealized upside but also provides very solid forward depth in the short term, there's always gonna be someone that's injured and Kuokkanen provides great cover for that.
Signing Manson is probably a mistake, his game's fallen off and I don't think it's gonna improve in the future, likely the opposite.
You should probably have looked into getting another goalie, Zacha would've been great to use as basis for a trade involving Samsonov or Vanecek imo.
Daws probably needs at least one more year in the minors before truly being ready to take on NHL responsibilities.
I really like the lines though, overall not the worst AGM I've seen, thumbs up.</div></div>
I admit I'm not the best when it comes to doing the contracts and prices. I definitely feel with Wood and Kuokkanen returning, and with Holtz (and possibly Foote and few other minor leaguers coming up) definitely see some trades coming, but not sure who would the odd person/people out. I would wait on Blackwood with his status, though Samsonov or Vanecek would not be a bad idea. I have been happy with Daws and everything he has tried to do thus far. Appreciate the feedback and everyone else's.

Devils are in kind of the same boat. Logjam in the middle to bottom 6.

Had a feeling. Originally had Sharangovich instead of Foote. Not sure if that would be enough or changing one of the picks to a 1st rounder.

The Vegas trade I actually saw from someone else on the site. Full credit to that individual. Vegas does have cap trouble. Wasn't sure to trade one LD not named Bahl, Smith, or Mukhamadulin in the deal.

Sharangovich would probably be a possibility. But, I feel then one piece on the Devils side would have to be taken out of the trade, or Vancouver would have to add a piece in return. I say no to Mercer, he doing good. Was not sure about Johnnson, though he has had a good start.

Definitely can see Ottawa grabbing a center, guess I was little too focused on how the order of the top 10 will go down.

(NJD/ARI) - Hall, Speers for Bahl, Merkley, Schnarr, 1sr round pick, conditional 3rd round pick
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WellIDK</b></div><div>Well I'd say win for Coyotes. I honestly don't understand this trade from Devils perspective. You got Hischier, Hughes, Zacha and McLeod as centers and you trade for two centers who aren't better than those 4. Sure Bahl is a pretty good prospect, but it doesn't hurt for the Coyotes with OEL and Chychrun as top 4 LD's. Sure those draft picks are good. Probably a mid 1st and a 2nd or 3rd. But when you get a quality top 6 player at 3M cap hit without giving up anything special, you win the trade</div></div>
I was hoping the Devils would have tried to get someone like Chychrun as the centerpiece in this trade [even if the devils had to add more to their side in the trade]. The Devils do need more grit & size on defense, so I'm happy with the acquisition of Bahl.

Carolina Trade (D and RW Help)
I agree, but Zacha is still up in the air to play left wing instead of playing center. The Devs are stockpiled at the LW and C positions right now after getting Johansson, and if Q and McLeod are going to be permanent on the roster next year. Henrique is probably the other odd man out, but I don't think we would get a top 2 defensemen in return.

Kovi [FLA]
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>synes7hesia</b></div><div>That FLA trade...why? Kovalchuk, Cammy (salary-retained), and one of Nico/Nolan for a player who has hit 50 points twice (Trochek)and a guy being billed as an offensive defenseman while only putting up 17 points (Matheson).
Totally overpaying on NJ's end here as Trochek/Matheson don't get anywhere close to being worth a first-overall + a semi-high quality player and a decent player after a bad year. Not to mention that Nico/Nolan can eventually be as good as Trochek if not better plus having more time in our system to adapt and learn how we would like them to.</div></div>
Originally, I was either going to give the 2018 2nd round pick from FLA back instead of the 2018 1st, or swap Barkov for Trocheck. I think you confused yourself in response, the pick for Nolan/Nico was not in this trade, (2018 1st round pick was, along w/ one of 2017 2nd round picks). But, definitely see where you going. Thanks for your feedback.
