Sqm918. We have had "arguments" before over player value but really don't see the justification in the Flamed and Junior GMs analysis.
Flamed: Either the trades is good or bad, or somewhere in between. But to write, "Add a 5th" sways the trade either way......C'mon grow up. Oh, and who gets the 5th? Or haven't you thought that out yet?
JuniorGM Thirteen scoring points in a year, shouldn't make a heck of lot difference if a Dman either Hamilton or Maatta is the better player. Certainly for the cap difference maybe Maatta is better value. And what has the overpriced Hamilton done to really help the Flames. One playoff round win? One thing having Fleury on the team would bring Calgary is goalie certainty for the next almost three years. Elliot is a UFA so maybe the process of finding goalie starts all over again for the Flames. Just sounds like we have have two Flames satisfied with the less than middling status quo.

If this is an offer sheet compensation model, I think you owe an extra 1st rounder to make it 2 1sts, a 2nd and a 3rd. You have to take the total contract amount and divide it by the lesser value of (1) 5 yrs or (2) the contract length. So 6.5M x 6 / 5 = 7.8M.

Limited NTC Question

Quoting: DD67

I know that players with Limited NTCs submit lists of teams to which they can be traded (or vice versa). Does anyone know when these lists are submitted?
I'm curious to know how that's going to work for the Expansion Draft. Will players be able to add the Expansion teams to their lists prior to the Expansion Draft?

It varies depending on the clause.
Many of them are required to submit their list on July 1. In some cases if they do not submit, they don't have a NTC for that season.
Some of them have to submit their list "in a reasonable amount of time" from when the team requests the list

Getting Cole's term with no significant prospect and or pick is kinda the opposite of what Toronto is interested in right now. I tried thinking of a way to change/improve it but I have come to the conclussion that Cole coming to Toronto just doesn't work imo.

I said it because Murray is set on Fowler being the cornerstone franchise defenseman the Ducks need. The team that wants Fowler is going to get fleeced and have a cap dump going to their team if Fowler is being moved

Then why has he been rumored to be on the trading block all year?

All of the rumors have been coming from outsiders. None of the respectable sources from the Ducks have mentioned Fowler. The only odd man out currently on defense is Vatanen.

Some new ideas
Hey guys,
The sites awesome and by far the best one out there. Keep up the great work!
Got some new ideas and tweaks for your consideration:
- Not sure the complexity involved that would be needed but being able to "roll forward" the calender season from 15-16 to 16-17 etc while keeping the changes you've made from the previous season would be awesome. Rather than make your 15-16 team. Close, Restart. Roll forward. Enter all the data from the previous AGM to the new one. Once again I'm not sure how hard that would be to do but I think it would be really cool.
- Make me an offer mode. My original idea (AGM thread) needs a couple tweaks but the idea is interesting.
- Make any section with data sortable/filterable. Example Players section - Free agents, Browse cap hits etc. (By age, handedness, etc) The trends section would be much better if it were filterable also.
- Incorporate into AGM or simply just add this to the site: http://nhllotterysimulator.com/
- In AGM mode, have a pop up tell you if a trade puts the other team over the cap so at least you know. Similar to NHL16 in be a GM mode.
- Instead of having a recall player drop down list, have all those players with a smaller but actual player "rectangle" icon in the AHL buried section. Having them more accessible is easier and lets you insert them into trades without having to recall them first then being able to trade them. The whole buyout/retained salary section is too space consuming for what it really does. A single line similar to when a player is put on LTIR is suffice to give the user the info while being out of the way. Showing all the players in the system in the AHL buried section below the actual team would also be advantageous to be able to slot prospects and players accordingly to their value/skill etc with the organization. The AHL buried section currently is weird because it applies to veteran players and some young players the same way sometimes. Example for MTL. Sending Jacob de La Rose to the minors puts him in the AHL buried section even though he is on a 2-way ELC. That's a small issue though obviously.
- Include the inactive players that are not officially retired in the sign UFA/RFA section for the AGM. This way you can insert players like A. Matthews to the team with all his data without having to create him.
That's all for now.

Not a Pens fan.....is this good or no?
Daley fits the pens style of play much better than Michalek, so I wouldn't make that move. Also, I agree to steer clear of Hamhuis (or any UFA for that matter) cuz pens are not close to contending for a cup

Pens
I just don't see how this makes the team better... I dont think a third pairing of Bartkowski/Weber is better than Pouliot/Lovejoy, and neither have the upside potential that Pouliot has.
Killorn and Hansen are good players... But is it that much of an upgrade over Kunitz (who has found his game lately) and Hornqvist? Plus, both deals (the Vancouver deal especially) greatly favor the Pens and I doubt the relative teams take them.
That bottom 6 looks like a mess compared to what it should be when healthy with our roster. Plots needs to be scratched, his skating is just not a fit for the system that Sully runs. Curious what your issue with our fourth line is, considering how great they have played recently.
Then Pens may be forced to make a move due to the Fehr/Bonino injuries, but I doubt they do any this extreme.

That trade is kinda shat. Dumoulin has been one of our better defensemen and the pens don't need to give up a first rounder to get a solid top-4 defensemen IMO.

Nice job of picking up Weber. I think the Rangers should go after him next summer depending on their situation. I think he's somewhat underrated, and he probably will play on a cheap(ish) contract once he hits free agency during the summer. Good puck mover

Think This Is Fair?

Quoting: Sqm918

Quoting: F50marco

I'm not sure if you did these just for fun but seriously no joke, these are pretty bad trades. (Depending on which side your on of course). Amazing for Pittsburgh, not quite even for the other teams.

Well, I will break them down 1 at a time. The Colorado deal is by no means a deal that Colorado would take. They love MacKinnon and rightfully so. He is a beast, but it's not really an unfair trade. Malkin is a lot better than Duchene and MacKinnon is a lot better than Sprong. The skill level difference is larger between MacKinnon and Sprong that's why I added the 2nd rounder, so it makes it more even. The Devils deal is actually my favorite of all the trades I made. Devils want offense and Pittsburgh wants defense. Perron may help their offense and Clendening is a young guy would could develop into a player great player or a bust. Too early to tell. The Ottawa deal I could understand the dislike. Ottawa wants a veteran to play with Ceci and the other two pieces add depth. The Columbus deal was a long shot, but like I said above, I was just trying to find equal value. I would have made it Prout instead of Savard, but he cap wouldn't work, but the cap wouldn't work with the current deal unless they waited until Savards new contract began next season. All in all, after some thought, I think the Devils deal may be the only deal that may work.

Respectfully disagree on the NJ one big time. I'll explain why on each one though:
Trade 1)
Malkin on paper is the best player in this trade. He still is a beast. Where this trade loses steam is in the long term. Malkin has already started declining. (Not drastically thank god but nonetheless). His health proves to be a problem year after year. He also makes one of the most cap hits in the league. Mackinnon still has 10 years of prime playing time ahead of him. Duchene has been getting a bad rap this year but Colorado would be crazy to under sell on this guy. Whether you believe it or not he's still a #1 centerman. Not of the ilk of a Toews, Kopitar etc but a #1 center regardless. He is also still young. Plenty of time to still get better. Sprong is nice prospect but he was taken late in the second round for a reason. He just isn't as good as Pitt fans want to admit. Not saying he sucks. He is a nice prospect but take the Pitt bias goggles off and you realise he isn't worth as much as you think. The second rounder has little value. What does a late second rounder get you? Sven Baertschi, Chris Stewart? etc (Last years deadline). The real NHL doesn't work the same as EA sports NHL16. There are so many factors that make this trade not as even as you think. Malkin>MacKinnon and Duchene>Sprong + 2nd rounder doesn't make this trade fair. In the logic your using, the difference between Malkin and MacKinnon is made up for the difference between Duchene and Sprong + 2nd rounder. Actually its not. So..... why would Colorado make this trade.
P.s. If we were talking about 08-09 Malkin, thats a whole different story my friend.
Trade 2)
As I've mentioned in other threads, Perron's value has decreased substantially. He isn't worth what you paid for him last year anymore. Tack on the fact that he is a UFA. There is the possibility that he doesn't want to sign with the devils and if he did, the Devils could get him for free in FA anyway. Clendening is nice prospect but he's also 23 yo and hasn't done much yet in the NHL. His value isn't that high either. Now, Adam Larsson is a top pairing defencemen. He's young, big, mobile, signed for cheap, a top 4 draft pick etc etc. Why would NJ want to make this trade?
P.s. Of all your trades this is the most unlikely one. Honestly.
Trade 3)
I still can't believe Pens fans think tacking on a prospect or picks with Scuderi makes it "okay" for him to be traded. Simple solution to clarify. If another team could do this would you do the equivalent of me trading you Scuderi, Plotnikov and Erixon for Ian Cole coming back to me? (Just a hypothetical of course). You'd laugh in my face. Not saying Weircioch is a stud player or anything but yet again I ask, Why would Ottawa make this trade?? They can get Scuderi from you guys for free if they wanted. Am I wrong guys?? Erixon and Plotnikov are ok but aren't anything special. You'd have more chance of making this trade if it were JUST Plotnikov and Erixon for Weircioch. Throwing Scuderi in there does not make Ottawa better, it makes them worse. I ask a second time, why would Ottawa want to make this trade?
Trade 4)
Hornqvist is solid player, Dumoulin is coming along nicely and Cole is nothing more than a 4-6 D man. Savard Is a top pairing defencmen (when I say this I don't mean All star Dman but he is a top pairing defenceman. He can play big minutes). Boone Jenner is the Jackets next captain and is already a very good player and Matt Calvert is a decent 3-4 fourth liner who can play up and down the lineup. The problem with this trade is that both teams want the same thing. Better defencemen. CLB has scoring wingers already. They want NHL ready Dmen. Preferably RH ones. Cole and Dumoulin help a little but they lose Savard in the process. CLB has an abundance of scoring threats already but lacks top end Dmen. Pittsburgh gets the Dman they want but CLB doesn't get something they really want. Overall value wise, its close if both teams where already stacked at each position but thats the problem, they're not. Why does CLB make this trade if it makes them worse at the position they want to get better at??

My Idea On Boedker

Quoting: Sqm918

Thanks Marco...for agreeing that the trade is fair. But maybe you should actually read my comments. Ugghh..............I was generalizing sqm918, as in if you don't want "people" (in this case palhal) commenting, don't post the roster to the internet where "people" (in this case palhal) are allowed to comment on it. If reading makes you dumber, maybe you should seek medical help.....
Is that simple enough for you to understand.
"You like a few others on this site don't think before commenting and make yourself sound foolish" - Maybe you should take your own advice on this one?

I really dislike when people include Fleury into the cap problem when really hes only making 5,750,000, why dont you include Hornqvist. Fleury is one of the most Elite goaltenders in the league he is making a 3500000 less than Lundqvist i think he is a steal at his price.
I think this is hyperbole. Pitt's problem isn't their core, which isn't far out of line in cap % with other successful teams. It's injuries. I wouldn't call it dumb. It's definitely two teams trading colostomy bags; but getting Bickell sets up moving Perron for something of actual value. No real drop off in forward depth between the two.
There's also a chance that being traded would void their NTCs. Then both teams could look to offload these bad contacts.
Colostomy bags? That's original for Armchair GM. Good work.
